Day 29: Chapel
Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.
But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.
Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.
It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.
[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

The navigator looked up after drawing one more line, eying the girl next to her, a girl with hair almost identical to hers but a bit longer and obviously blonde. She hadn't been particularly wanting an interruption, but if it was a question about her maps, her life's calling, how could she resist? "Yes. More precisely, I'm modifying one I had previously obtained; it's just not as accurate as I'd like."
She looked around slowly, noticing Sanji was also in the chapel, but far enough away that he probably wouldn't notice her. Thank goodness - he looked okay. It made her smile a little bit as she looked back to the girl. "I'll also be working on a map of what I was able to see of the town."

When she compared them to the other girl's though... hers seemed almost juvenile in comparision. The sketchy lines and lack of proportion almost made Naminé ashamed to show this woman, clearly a professional, what she had drawn up, but on the other hand, it was important to see if this woman had anything new.
"Ah, see... I'm trying to do that as well. But it's hard for me to get to certain places," Naminé explained, hoping the woman wouldn't mind sharing some information. "I was wondering if we could compare locations? Your map is really good, I hope you'll be able to find mine useful..."
no subject
She winked at the girl, twirling the pen around in her fingers. "That's because I'm a professional. This is what I do - I map and I navigate," she said. She hadn't really had a chance to show off since she had come here; most of her time had been spent with her nakama, who knew her abilities one hundred percent. For the first time, too, her knowledge hadn't been at a disadvantage.
Nami reached out, grasping the girl's journal in her hand. The map was really similar to the one she already had, and as sketchy as the one Usopp had prepared, though a little less so. There were only a few parts she could modify. Her hand poised above the paper, she asked, "May I?"
no subject
"Oh, of course!" The blonde smiled, letting go of the map and letting the woman do her work. Of course, the subject of introductions only really crossed her mind much later. The more important conversation about the map seemed to take priority over introducing herself, but now that they got that out of the way...
"Oh, yes, my name is Naminé. It's very nice to meet you," She smiled, watching as the other woman worked.
no subject
Though when Naminé offered her name, Nami couldn't help but take pause, looking up at the younger girl with a grin. "Ha, really? Nice to meet you, too. I'm Nami. What are the odds of that?" She wondered passively if Naminé was called Nami occasionally. She hadn't met anyone with her own name before.
"What do you do, Naminé? In your own world?" She was turning back to the girl's map, embellishing it and double-checking to make sure it looked all right. After all, Nami had given information about herself..
no subject
She opened her mouth to thank the woman when she heard the woman introduce herself. Well! She had never met anyone with the same name (well, not quite the same)!
"Oh! I always thought I was the only one with a name like mine! That's so nice!" She beamed, clasping her hands together. It said something when something as simple as finding someone with a similar name brought the girl joy.
"Oh..." The question of what she did back in her own world was... very difficult to answer, for a multitude to reasons. "Well, I wasn't really anyone. Just a girl with good memory and a sketchbook," She answered for now. If Nami wanted to pry, then Naminé could probably find a better time to explain everything later.
no subject
Unfortunately for their conversation, Nami was all for privacy; while she could have pried for more telling information, what was the fun in that if it meant making the girl uncomfortable? Nami wasn't the nosy sort. She'd go with the information Naminé gave her. "So. What kinds of things do you draw from memory, then, name-twin?"
Momentarily, she'd finished with the map Naminé had given her, as complete and well-drawn as she could manage. She'd even marked her own room, F35, on the map; if Naminé chose to question it, she could, but it was a silent offering of help of sorts.
no subject
"Thank you!" She beamed as she examined her new map. Hopefully the next time they met, Naminé could have some new sections for Nami to copy, though it would probably end up being the other way around...
Luckily for her, Nami's next question was easier to answer.
"Oh, anything, really. I lived a pretty sheltered life up until now... but I met a boy who was able to show me all sorts of new things. You could say I was drawing his memories," She explained, making drawing motions on her sketchpad. "I always wished I could go see those worlds, but even after I was able to finally move around, I didn't really get a chance... and now, I'm back in a prison hearing other people telling me about their home."
Despite everything, Naminé had to have a laugh at what she just said; it was sort of funny when she thought about it, actually.
