Day 29: Chapel
Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.
But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.
Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.
It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.
[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

Finally arriving at his destination, he couldn't help but feel glad he could finally take a seat and being temporary rid of the hassle of moving around in this form. He felt worn and tired, though it hardly had anything to do with his current trip to the second floor. Tonight had been complete chaos, to put it lightly, and though he had escaped the bus soon enough and even managed to explore, it was still enough to tire him in his new body. It was terribly inconvenient.
The lion had no idea why he had picked the Chapel over the Sun Room. He had no desire for any meditation or 'religious practice'. The latter didn't even ring any bells.
The feline had attempted to ask the nurse, though the little explanation she offered had only reminded him of the Circle of Life nonsense his father always told him. He wondered if these humans also believed they'd turn into grass after their death. The idea of transforming into vegetation, especially vegetation that was frequently walked over or eaten by herbivores, wasn't quite appealing, actually.
His motivation for visiting the Chapel must have been none other than 'curiosity', he concluded. And perhaps the vague promise of laying eyes on the person keeping them here.
That still left him wondering what he was supposed to do around here. Having not much better to do, he began gazing at his surroundings.
[ooc; free to be bothered]

However, there was something intriguing about the idea of a chapel for a religion that he had never heard of, had never been a part of. There had only been one religion in the twin worlds, and perhaps this idea of seeing something new (not unlike the "buses" from yesterday- although he would have preferred to have forgotten those) was what appealed to the side of him still human.
Walking down the wooden pews, Kratos stopped before one on an impulse. It was already partly occupied, but there was only one other man currently sitting in it- room enough, he supposed. Sliding in and taking a seat, he surveyed the chapel quietly, only to find that there was a firm resemblance to those back in Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. Irony indeed.

Another patient soon sat next to him, a tall man with reddish brown manes. These humans certainly came in various kinds, now that he actually payed attention to it. Not only was there a difference in size and built, but their manes came in practically every color of the rainbow.
"Good morning." he greeted. The former lion was proper enough to take the other patients as an example and speak in a hushed voice as well.

"Good morning." He returned the favor in a similar soft tone, leaving his words hanging for what seemed an eternity. Socially Kratos failed, and he was at a loss on what to follow up with. Searching for something to say lest he let the situation grow too awkward for either's liking, he spoke the first thing that came to mind:
"...Your posture suggests that you are uncomfortable- thrown into uncharted waters, have we?" It wasn't the best thing to say, but at least he was trying?
no subject
"That happens to be quite the understatement, actually." he admitted dryly, not seeing any sense in denying the obvious. He had all reason to be uncomfortable, both in regard to this...Chapel and whatever had to be done here, along with a body that still continued to remind him of a bald monkey.
"I am Scar." he added. It was something most began a conversation with -- an introduction. But perhaps he happened to deal with someone who wasn't very skilled socially.
no subject
"Kratos Aurion." Ah, introductions- how could he have forgotten? It had never been his policy, giving his name out freely- another example of constant vigilance impeding on the normal functions of society. There had been no need for introducing himself back on Derris Kharlan- everyone had already known him whether he liked it or not.
"I suppose my previous question was...unnecessary, then, for it does appear that we all have been thrown into uncharted waters." Kratos's eyes narrowed as he scanned the chapel briefly. "Although, these waters are a little too familiar for my own liking."
no subject
"I take it you don't have a good experience with these...Chapels, then?" Scar replied curiously. Perhaps it could tell him more about the purpose of this room. Or 'religion' in general, as the nurse's explanation had failed massively at informing him about this subject. The information could possibly be rather useful, even if it would only aid him in looking less like a fool.
no subject
"With chapels? No, but with their purpose, yes. Religion- or even the concept of worship- has...never been for me." Here he smiled grimly. "Having been unintentionally involved in the creation of one, I have never truly believed in the idea that a deity controls my fate."
no subject
There was a short silence after Kratos had finished speaking. If his words were anything to go by, religion was about the same as worshiping. Which meant that this chapel's purpose obviously was to worship these...'deities' he spoke of.
The King didn't knew anything about deities, but to think someone like that would control someones fate...it almost seemed absurd. Kratos' words only seemed to confirm this: the creation of one...it didn't make the idea any more believable.
Certain actions simply led to certain consequences, and the King didn't see how anyone could control such a thing. If you chose to jump from a cliff and died, it was simply because you wanted to. Certainly not because you were destined to jump from that cliff on that particular moment.
It was almost as ridiculous as those child stories back home. The person who had thought that the stars were the 'Great Kings of the Past' must have had a rich fantasy.
If such a thing was true, he wondered what that said about the stars in this world.
"The idea indeed sounds rather absurd, I have to admit." Scar replied simply.

Then of course there was the matter of fate, and while Kratos didn't believe in any sort of god or goddess, he most certainly believed in fate, closely related though the two were. However, since his arrival at Landel's, he had felt that belief begin to wane...
"I take it you have no experience with chapels, then?" Kratos asked nonchalantly.
no subject
"There happens to be a distinct lack of them in my world." What they did have in the Pride Lands? Rocks and grass.
