Day 28; Bus 3

There was, Naomi decided, some sort of cosmic irony in all of this. Not that she was trapped in a deranged and possibly other-worldly asylum with a man she'd idolized for years and a boy who was being investigated for - among other things - the murder of her fiance. No, at this point, those were perfectly normal occurrences. Rather it was the soft, pretty, feminine pink sweater dress she'd been stuffed into in the morning. A chance to wear normal clothes, and she looked like a soccer mom. The white blazer and white boots only made her look like a soccer mom who maybe hadn't given up gogo boots.

It was humiliating. Why couldn't she have jeans and a sweater? And sneakers? Something she would conceivably wear? Not this damned pink monstrosity. And her nurse kept saying how pretty she was.

She didn't care if she looked pretty.

Grumbling to herself, and taking it out on her muffin, Naomi was shoved onto an empty bus and told to 'sit tight'. Oh, she'd sit tight alright....

At least she was relatively certain L was alright. She'd spent the whole night with him, and other than falling on his ass, nothing had happened to him. And hopefully nothing would happen to him in town, either....

"Well personally, after last night a nice quiet ride can't be the worst thing in the world..." Mion stretched in the seat a little and glanced out the window, taking in the scenery. "Heh... Feels like forever since I've seen the outside world, but it's only been... three days now. Go figure."

"Yeah, nights aren't exactly all that fun around here, are they?" Hughes chuckled. "It's been.... almost two months for me," he admitted, leaning back in his seat and turning to look out the window. He expected it to be... different, somehow. Foreign, alien...it was perfectly normal.

"Time's funny here. It doesn't seem to move right. I know it's probably just a trick of the mind, but....."

"Not in the least..." Mion blinked at the man as he turned to look out the window. "Two months...? Wow... At least you're okay after all of that."

"Well considering all the other kinds of tricks this place has, one like that can't be impossible, right...?" Mind tricks to make the day longer or actually making the day longer...? Something like that, but regardless, whatever it did, Mion didn't think it was fair. To take them from their lives and all that was one thing, but it had to have some limits, right?

"Yeah, almost two months." Hughes nodded. "Seems like a hell of a lot longer, though." He didn't know if he'd say he was okay. He was tired and worried and drained and missing his family.

"It wouldn't surprise me if they're messing with time or our perceptions of time or something like that. Who knows." He sure as hell didn't, and it drove him nuts.

He wondered if it would be the same today. Did the institute's power really extend this far?

"I bet..." Well that had been kind of stupid. The longer you were here, the worse off you'd be... She'd probably be a wreck or something if she had been here that long. Mion ran her hand through her hair and wondered how she could fix that particular error.

"I wonder..." Mion paused. What he had said and what her thoughts on the matter already were weremaking her think... "Is this even a 'trip' at all? What if it's all some kind of setup just to see what we'll do?" She paused. "I guess either way the best thing to do would be to try to take adventage of it though..."

"Well, they usually don't pull anything weird on us in the day." Hughes pursed his lips, thinking. He felt he had a pretty good grasp of the sort of person the Head Doctor was, but the man was damn hard to pin down.

"But just because they haven't done anything before doesn't mean they won't. I hope everybody's on their guard, just in case. And learning all they can. It's not like we'll get a chance to slip away - they're too good for that - but we can learn a lot on this trip."

"True... I wonder why that is, though," she paused. "I mean, it's not like we don't know what's going on, and I really doubt the outside world would care either way if things only happened at night as opposed to day and night... Is this some kind of gameto them?"

"That's right... And we could probably try to find some supplies or something, if we're lucky..." Mion wondered if she could get lucky and find that phone they had been looking for in the town. If that was the case, maybe she could get through to the real outside world...?
