Day 27: Library
Libraries, he'd found, were rarely as dull as people made them out to be. Though he felt no magic in these tomes, they were still full of useful information. Maybe some of them could tell him a little bit more about this world he'd landed himself in.
For that matter, why hadn't he run into any of the others yet? They'd all been fairly close together when they'd left Rekord, but he hadn't seen a trace of any of them. He was able to communicate easily with the people here though, which led him to believe Mokona was within a mile or so. Unless the ones running this little game had some other way to let all these other-worldly people communicate amongst themselves. In which case, the others could be very far away indeed.
The library had that wonderful smell of old books, and Fai traced his fingers along the shelves, skimming titles and pulling books that struck his fancy. Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, The War of the Worlds, and with a smile, he found Bram Stoker's Dracula as well. Raven had been telling the truth then, in spite of his own lies. Ought to be a good start. He sat leisurely at one of the tables and began flipping through his selections.

So much blood was on her own hands that it no longer mattered what the little humans did. As long as she was having fun, they could blow each other up as they pleased.
"Reading's boring no matter what it's about. It's too much like school!" School. Ugh. At least that was one good thing this place didn't have. Still had nagging humans that tried to make get her to read, but no homework for her to force on someone else.

Citan ran his eyes along the titles on the shelves. Not a single book was familiar to him. He wasn't entirely surprised.
"Though there is much to be said about learning by experience," he added, mildly, still smiling.

This was an odd young woman. Though he was used to strange children. He didn't do very well with them, but he was used to them. He wondered where she came from and why she struck him as strange.
no subject
A good reason why she needed to get back home; she had an Ark to finish downloading!!

How long had she wanted to complain to someone about the Earl's policy concerning her schooling? Long enough to earn a huffy rant, it seemed. Rhode was happy to rant, it was comforting in a way.
no subject
"Why only you?"
no subject
The Earl making only her go to school didn't make sense no matter how she looked at it. She was his princess! He pampered her the most, let her have what she wanted, when she wanted, without ever asking for a reason. He even did her homework for her! But even with all of that, he still demanded that she attend school along with humans. It wasn't like the Earl tried to blend in with those weaklings as he made her do. Why did she have to?
Didn't he not want them suppressing their Noah side?
no subject
He remembered, of course, but he hoped that she would elaborate. He was simply curious. And there was always a chance that the information could be useful to him at some point.
no subject
sometimesallowed those secrets to slip out to others. She's teased Tyki just a little bit ago about lambs, and she had teased Allen Walker with things the Earl didn't want him to know ever since first meeting him.Should she tease this man about the Earl? Nah, he wouldn't understand any bit of what she'd tell him if she went there. He could have some information though, since it was the Earl she'd been ranting over. "He raised me." Ever since she had become a Noah, that was.
no subject
"Oh, so he's like your father, then? Perhaps he really does think this is what's best for you. Fathers always try and do the best for their daughters."
no subject
After protesting, she went back to his earlier questions. "My big brother's a Lord, and I get called Mistress a lot." "Lady" now, thanks to Lord Tamaki. Oh, that reminded her! "I'm from England," she added. For some reason, that information had set Tamaki off earlier. She wondered if it would do the same for this guy.
She shifted from side to side on her feet, swaying a bit now out of boredom. Conversation - she'd stumbled into one without intending to and now it was falling into the boring strain that caused her usual aversion to the activity. She hated the tedium no matter what form it took, and this variation was bound and set on her family.
Just saying she was bored and skipping off as she felt like doing would be too suspicious. She debated some actions in her mind - the frustration of venting now gone. Maybe continuing would make things get more interesting. How about she ask some questions for a change, hm?
"Do you like blood?" Always the best conversation starter.
no subject
"Hmm? Blood?" He shrugged. "In my profession, you certainly can't dislike it." He couldn't say he had any personal affection for it. Perhaps he had, in his youth, when he wielded his blade and armies fell at his feet. But now it was simply the oil that made people run, little more.
no subject
Oh, if he did kill people, she may have a reason to like this human. Noah or not, there were sometimes those rare human exceptions that she liked. Not liked in the same way as Allen Walker, but in the way of liking conduct. She had her favorites from the past - murders, serial killers, tyrants - and each of those favorites had shed a good deal of blood in her eyes. That was the kind of like she was emphasizing here with her questions to Mr...
"What's your name?" she asked separate from her other questions.
no subject
"I'm Doctor Citan Uzuki," he said. "And no, I don't kill people. Not intentionally, of course! I'm a doctor. I perform surgery and amputations when need be. Though when war came, we all had to do our duty."
no subject
When he mentioned the war, her interest eased over to caution, and her intended questions fall to the floor. None of the Earl's forces had the need for a Doctor - Noah didn't sustain injuries for long - so that made this human before her part of the Exorcist's side. Or would have made him part of their side given what she knew. What she didn't know was what she needed to question to be sure.
"Which war?" she asked carefully.
no subject
"But it was a very violent and long-lasting war."
no subject
"I bet there was a lot of blood!" she said, her mood returning to as it had been earlier.
Amputations and what not always made for enjoyable activity. She doubted he had as much fun as she did in that area, but it as interesting to think that he preformed similar things to her, especially since he did not seem saddened as he spoke. Any normal human would have shown some traces of sadness or regret for having to mutilate their kind. Citan had even admitted that he didn't "dislike" blood either. That gave him a little respect from Rhode's Noah side. Human nature at it's worst was deserving of recognition after all.
