Day 27: Library
Libraries, he'd found, were rarely as dull as people made them out to be. Though he felt no magic in these tomes, they were still full of useful information. Maybe some of them could tell him a little bit more about this world he'd landed himself in.
For that matter, why hadn't he run into any of the others yet? They'd all been fairly close together when they'd left Rekord, but he hadn't seen a trace of any of them. He was able to communicate easily with the people here though, which led him to believe Mokona was within a mile or so. Unless the ones running this little game had some other way to let all these other-worldly people communicate amongst themselves. In which case, the others could be very far away indeed.
The library had that wonderful smell of old books, and Fai traced his fingers along the shelves, skimming titles and pulling books that struck his fancy. Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, The War of the Worlds, and with a smile, he found Bram Stoker's Dracula as well. Raven had been telling the truth then, in spite of his own lies. Ought to be a good start. He sat leisurely at one of the tables and began flipping through his selections.

Sousuke stood up, looking a bit awkward, "I suppose that if these people wanted to kill me, they would've done it already, but being safe is better than being surprised," He looked down, frowning. Was he... depressed? This place was not only keeping Kaname from him, it was denying him his sanity and peace of mind.

He returned his attention to the kid sitting against the shelves. "What's your name?"
no subject
"My name is Sergeant Sagara Sousuke. I am not cleared to reveal my call sign, operating unit, or organization at this time," He bowed his head slightly, "Nice to meet you, sir."
no subject
Well, at least the kid was knew what he was and wasn't allowed to do. Sagara was every bit the proper little soldier, if very paranoid and somewhat strange.
no subject
Fabulous on a battlefield, not so good at keeping quiet in a library.

So instead, he looked up at Statesman and waited for a clarification or explanation.

But something bothered Sousuke a little. This was the second time Captain Cole has addressed him as 'son'. "Forgive the inquiry sir, but is it customary in your organization to refer to officers by terms of endearment?"
no subject
"Sometimes, yes. You don't like being called 'son'?"
no subject
Well, except Sergeant Major Mao and Kurz. They called him Sousuke--but Mao, being his commanding officer was allowed, and Kurz just had no regard for protocol at all.
no subject
Perhaps he could have Sergeant TK and this Sergeant work together?
no subject
"Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate her," Sousuke said, tilting his head down slightly. It was his own fault--he shouldn't have counted on someone he'd just met. He should have simply carried out the mission by himself.

Marcus didn't think that it would go well for anyone if she wasn't.

"As for being able to find her..." Sousuke trailed off, wondering if he should explain the situation. He decided against it. "I haven't checked any of the medical labs yet. That will be my primary goal tonight."
