Day 27: Sun Room (4th Shift)

Momo's mind was turning over all the possibilities surrounding this "field trip" to the surrounding town when she settled down in the corner of the Sun Room away from the Arts & Crafts room. She curled her legs underneath her as she waited for Shouko-san to find her. The shinigami had no idea what she looked like, so she kept an eye on all those entering the room.

It was still very cold, or at least she was cold, and the momentary thought of getting her coat from her own room passed through her mind amidst the field trip thoughts. She pushed it away and decided to deal with it being as cold as it was since she'd already been late to one meeting today and didn't want to start making it a habit.

As she waited, she pondered the next day's possibilities. Maybe, just maybe, once away from the institute the shinigami will have access to their full reiatsu. And if not, maybe they'll have a better idea of how they are being limited so much. Maybe Aizen would be able to find her then. He'd save her... right? Right?

So not just Rinali, but now Kanda was here too? It was good that they could work as a team now, but what of the people back home? Were they still doing alright? Had anyone managed to find Cross? He would be a big help if they could actually find him. Then again, maybe he was stuck here too. Allen repressed a shudder. He had no desire to meet up with that man anytime soon.

He'd had a long day, honestly, after dealing with Rhode and then a surprise visit from Rinali. Though the message board hadn't helped. Rhode was all riled up now, he was sure, and had found more than a few other strange people that shared her tastes. He couldn't say it made him very happy, but there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it.

He found a seat, however, and waited for the others to arrive.

[a short hello from alu and then meeting with the Exorcists]

The scant bits of scent in the notes were all that he could use to track this 'Allen' down, but at least his intended prey wasn't trying to hide. It was slightly difficult at first, but the vampire managed to pin down the other's location. He entered the sun room, pausing at some point near the doors to scent the air.

Aha.

Smirking, he made his way over to where Allen was seated. This was going to be fun.

Dean slowed pace toward the Sun Room as Landel began babbling on about some 'field trip'. He just snorted derisively, shaking his head as he entered the section of the Institute he was probably most familiar with.

Oh, yes, indeed, and as I'll be personally chaperoning one of the buses into town, I do hope to meet some of you in person and become familiar with the faces that –

"Become familiar with your face. Son-of-a-bitch..."

He basically threw himself on the closest couch, positioning a pillow under his head before lying back and sighing heavily. He couldn't believe he was still freakin' here. So tedious. What he wouldn't give for a bit of entertainment, preferably of the female variety. Well, maybe he'd keep an eye out for a beauty or two, or three, while he was busy being bored out of his mind. Nothing else to distract him, save for the bunch of crap strengthening his poise on the situation, like rejuvenated thoughts on tactics, Sam, Diva, and...

He linked his fingers flat over his abdomen, head tilted to enable him a good shot of one doorway; and for anyone who walked through it to catch the eyes of a man who was clearly fed up with this gig.

Whatever. Dean crossed his arms, feeling exceptionally petulant this afternoon. His eyelids fell when hot flashes of anxiety threatened to invade the calm he'd established.

Don't think about it. Don't.

Allen had expected to meet up with Rinali, Ravi, or even Kanda this hour. He hadn't expected the gangly man that now towered above him. "C-can I help you?" he stammered. This wasn't one of the people from the message boards, was it? He was huge!

Libraries were boring. The Sun Room, at least, had couches.

Naruto spent the day oversleeping, which his nurse once again scolded him for. He groggily and begrudgingly obeyed when she finally ushered him out into the last evening shift, but only because he was meeting with a friend, not because she had any authority over him. When he explained this to her, crudely, the only answer he received was to have his hair ruffled. Naruto envisioned being able to break her face without getting thrown into Solitary; it was a nice daydream.

The Sun Room was practically empty when he arrived -- no sign of Usagi-chan yet or her friend, whom Naruto imagined would look very smart (being the smartest person in the world, as described to him via bulletin board) and be easy to find because of it. With a loud plop he deposited himself onto the nearest couch, comfortably laying back with his arms behind his head and watching the windows up in the ceiling.

In a minute, he was dozing off and lightly snoring. Within two minutes, a trail of drool escaped from the corner of his open mouth as he shifted noisily onto his stomach and half buried his face into the armrest, limbs in disarray.

Alucard stood still, standing and looming over the little boy for a few quiet moments. Well, he wasn't surprised to find a child before him, after all, Rhode had expressed a bit of a love interest for him -and Rhode herself was a little girl-. And the boy looked quite frightened. Excellent.

"Remember how I said I would find you?" he grinned, finally speaking up, seeming ridiculously happy.

"I'm A. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

He oughtn't have been surprised that this man registered as an Akuma. His left eye darkened, the iris turning a bright, glowing red once again. Was that what the A was for? Akuma? It would explain the bloodlust. Allen steeled his nerves, though it was difficult to keep hold of them. His expression darkened slightly as he stood, frowning up at the man. Even standing, this "A" person still had at least a good couple of feet on him!

"Akuma..." he said the first word quietly, not sure if he believed it. "What do you want with me? I may not look it, but I'm an Exorcist. I'll... I'll fight you if I have to..."

[identity profile] madvampireking.livejournal.com 2007-09-29 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He watched, interested as one of Allen's eyes seemed to change colour. This was something he had never seen before! Or at least anyone else with glowing, iridescent eyes. Then he had that slight...feeling, that tingling which told him that something rather odd was happening, as if Allen's left eye was staring right into him, and then that feeling was gone.

"I'm not an 'Akuma', I'm a vampire," he replied in a condescending tone, arms folded. "And you look a little too young to be a fully-fledged priest, let alone an exorcist. You seem more like an altar boy to me."

After leaving Ami Usagi was awake and full of enough food to start thinking like a normal human being. Waking up to find her friend still in the institute had been a relief even though it still made her feel guilty to think that way. Having her power work had given her hope, but the more she thought about it the more its weakness worried her. It only continued to prove that she couldn't handle the situation on her own, and that the others needed to put themselves in danger for her as usual. It didn't help that Usagi's thoughts kept drifting back to Mamoru as she was led to the Sun Room. He was the one she wanted the most, not to save her, but to say the right thing and comfort her.

Usagi spotted Naruto easily, there were very few people in the Sun Room yet. In sleep he reminded her of her little brother Shingo-- she of course never slept in such an undignified manner.

"Naruto-kun~" she said loudly in his ear, not sure how much of a heavy sleeper he was but more than ready to start violently shaking him if she had to.

Field trip? That sounded like hell from a security standpoint. Good. But if things went well tonight, Riddick wouldn't have to worry about any of that.

The Furyan ignored the selection of furniture and found a spot by the wall near the arts and crafts room. He sat on the floor with his back to the vertical surface, left leg extended into the room and right arm propped up on the other knee. Haku was right, this place had some way of accelerating natural healing. But the killer still didn't feel nearly as well as he'd like. He regretted again the actions he'd taken last night that had led to broken ribs. And other things.

Speaking of regrets, he noted the patient he'd fought with earlier enter the library. Riddick thought nothing of the actual fight... only that he'd underestimated the effect of the sedatives that had followed promptly. At least Haku had helped him fight most of that garbage off.

Vampires weren't supposed to be real. This Akuma... it looked like there was not just one, but many souls trapped inside him. Allen's left arm twitched instinctively. The Innocence in his hand wanted him to destroy this monster. To set those souls free. He knew though, that right now, he'd barely the strength to stand, let alone deal with this.

He drew himself up to his full height of just barely over five feet, doing his best to look intimidating. An Altar boy?! "I'm sixteen!" he replied with a frown. "Besides that, we're under jurisdiction from the Vatican, but we don't work in the same capacity. I assure you that I am a fully qualified Exorcist."

Takaya was starting to feel a bit ... worried. That was the only way he could describe it, much as he hated feeling 'worried' over someone like Naoe.

Still, the fact remained that he still hadn't seen the asshole and that lunch had passed without seeing him or without him hovering behind his shoulder.

Now, he was sitting in the Sun Room, frowning in thought while sitting in a chair a bit removed from others.

Where the fuck was he?

HK was irritated after having to deal with that meatbag all through lunch. Usually it was more amusing than it had been, but what with his lungs being so very unhelpful, he could hardly get out a proper rant.

And these burns were strange to see on his skin. The branching fractal patterns of electrical damage almost looked like some sort of natural coloration on a meatbag, if it wasn't for the fact that touching them hurt.

But HK was excited about the idea of harassing meatbags outside of the facility tomorrow. Maybe the violent sort of harassment. Especially if he found where the meatbag in charge of all of this was.

[Waiting unknowingly for Yuber]

He'd poked his head in the library for a moment, but had quickly decided on the Sun Room again after seeing the library was full of fiction. Mark wasn't really in the mood for entertainment at the moment, he needed information.

So instead he parked himself in front of the bulletin board again and started taking more notes. There were so many people and names that it was becoming a jumble, but it wasn't quite enough that he could consider himself buried in information. Still, it reminded him of being in the bowels of ImpSec. The main difference was that his legs were starting to hurt a bit from standing. The messages tended to be posted so frequently and by such a variety of people that he'd given up on trying to nose forward and see who was writing what--besides that, he had the distinct feeling it would be considered bad manners around here.

The best he could hope for was to catch some of the strike-outs before they became such... and that was also beyond reach in some cases, as he swore the board had somehow kept busy despite lunch and was willing to bet that things had been posted and later removed or covered. People here were pretty secretive.

He should get around to checking for people he knew, just to be sure, after reading about some creature that imitated forms. If this were really an insane asylum (which had an ultra-retroactive theme because of style?) and the people around him were all posting their insanity, it was the biggest case of mass hallucination he'd ever heard of. Even the really crazy ones ("Who likes blood?") were recognizably crazy in ways unrelated to the general consensus by the population on night monsters, kidnapping, alternate worlds...

At least the staff was nice enough to give patients notebooks.

[identity profile] boot-i-licious.livejournal.com 2007-09-29 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The rush as people were herded from shift to shift made it difficult to keep sight of Allen, and she still hadn't caught sight of Ravi, except for a post he had left on the bulletin board. And Kanda was here, too? She wondered how many more exorcists were going to be trapped here.

She caught sight of Allen, talking with another man. She couldn't tell what, but something was obviously wrong with him from the way Allen was staring at him. The other man didn't seem particularly amused with Allen, either. Deciding it best to be there and lend support to Allen in case something happened, she approached and stood next to Allen. "Who's your friend, Allen?" she asked, not sure if 'friend' was the best term, given the situation. The man was huge and imposing, but she refused to be intimidated, especially when she didn't know what was going on yet.

[Wai, more breakdowns with Ritsuka? LOLOL.]

Field trips? He almost wished he hadn't heard that. It was a taunt, almost, a taunt from the ringleader to his circle animals - who would jump through a flaming hoop and try to kill him while outside these walls? But it was also a perfect chance... if he had been smart enough to avoid last night's injury, perhaps he would have been able to manipulate such an opportunity.

As it was, it cost a great deal of effort just to think about the situation rationally. Sitting gingerly on the edge of a couch, he rubbed both his hands across his face, creating a pocket of darkness to hide his expression. Aidou didn't care how it looked; he just need a moment. The daytime had been draining, more so than it had any right to be. And every time he let his mind slip, he thought of something else, and every time he closed his eyes, he saw something else...

The vampire sighed into his hands. 'Crap' was such a flexible word. He would never, ever speak it aloud, but it aptly described how he was feeling. Probably how he looked too.

And everything else about his existence in the last twelve hours.

Keman was a lot less concerned about the field trip than Dean was, probably because he only recognized half of the words that the Head Doctor had said. What were "buses?"

And how was he getting his voice to project like that in the first place? It was a mystery.

At any rate, his nurse seemed hellbent on keeping him away from the library ("girls don't like nerdy boys!"), so he found himself in the Sun Room yet again. At least he'd be able to find Shana and Valyn when they came in.

The dragon took a position on a couch with a pretty clear view of the door, near a human male who looked heartily sick of the whole situation. Keman couldn't blame him, really.

"Rough day?" he asked politely.

Hanyuu really didn't want to leave Mion after lunch. Although having to watch her words around the other girl was a little difficult, she'd gladly continue to do so if it meant she could stay with someone she actually knew. But, it didn't seem she had much choice in the matter, and she found herself being shuffled off by that nurse again.

Hanyuu took a look around the room, taking immediate notice that there were only a few others at the moment. She was actually grateful for that, since the crowded cafeteria had been rather unsettling. There didn't appear to be anyone she knew there, however, so the girl climbed onto one of the couches and curled up near one of the ends.

It was easier to keep her attention on the door that way, although it seemed she had forgotten some things about the physical world. Namely, she had forgotten how easy it was to fall asleep when you were warm and comfortable.

Hanyuu tried to keep her eyes open by reminding herself she needed to keep an eye out for anyone she knew. She really needed to think more about those monsters Mion had mentioned too, even if the idea was a frightening one. But, despite herself, her thoughts kept drifting to how warm the room was and how comfortable the couch was, and it wasn't long before the former spirit was dozing off, her head resting on the armrest.

Decisions, decisions. He hadn't seen Lord Hellmaster in here, which meant he was in the library. Well, Zelgadis seemed to be repelled by Xelloss, and that was a factor to consider. Were he to stay in the library, it might keep the ex-chimera at bay, but he also might make the connection more easily if he spied a particular 'child' in proximity to Xelloss.

Xelloss settled for a chair fairly near the library door, and looked about brightly as though expecting someone.

For a short while he was not in Landel's. Instead he was back home, after successfully breaking everybody out and dismantling the institution. Konoha was lauding him a hero for bringing its shinobi back safe (though Sasuke, unfortunately, suffered some minor brain damage and forgot everything about Oto) and they were finally recognizing that Uzumaki Naruto deserved the title of Hokage.

It was while they were handing him his hat that the dream went poof and a loud, high-pitched voice sounded in his ear (one of his fans?) to bring him back to reality. Naruto blinked one eye open and recognized the familiar bun hairstyle framing a pretty face.

"My hat," he whined sleepily and shifted onto his side. With a big yawn his eyes scrunched closed. "Gimme five m're minutes, Usagi-chan. Almost had the hat. S'gonna look so good on me."

[Um, waiting for Peogay I guess. >:O]

Jade was grateful to be blessed with a quiet lunch, taking the opportunity to organize his thoughts and file them as neatly as possible in their own respectable categories. Unlike a certain ignorant God-General, the Colonel found the subject of human experimentation to be a horrifically fascinating one, but that also meant that he had to be cautious for the others. After all, he was the only one that had any bit of common sense.

As tempted as he was to reclaim his spot in front of the bulletin board, he figured his Majesty would rather lollygag around than do any sensible amount of work. This easily included the Library, but he made note to take a look once he was able. In the meantime, Jade chose to situate himself on one of the couches, folding his hands over his lap and glanced around the room.

The faces of his fellow patients were becoming all too familiar, and the brunet managed to catch his brash roommate looking as banged up as he expected him to be. According to yesterday's events, they'll be returning back to their respected rooms after this shift, which left Jade absolutely brimming with excitement for the man's company again.

The Sun Room, Naomi reminded herself, as one of those irritatingly close-mouthed nurses escorted her away from lunch. She had more or less enjoyed her meal, taking a small pause from the insanity to speak of simple, inane things. Now it was time to get to work.

L was counting on her.

She scanned the room and spotted a young woman - very young as far as she was concerned - that matched the description of Hinamori. She approached slowly.

"Hinamori-san?" she asked, in case she was mistaken.

"Hat? What hat?" Usagi never got to wear many hats because her hair made it too challenging.

"C'mon no time for hats or sleep!" she began to whine, trying to get him awake again. "We have plans to make and kitchens to raid so that we can defeat Phil Atio!!!" Their secret name for the doctor was whispered.

Krauser was moving to just browse the selection, get an idea of who'd donated the books and whether or not there were any of those metal things that stopped books from sliding around.

He'd bet a broken one could hold an edge.

Problem: someone's leg in the way. (And an attached patient, too.) He stopped for a moment, running an initial assessment. Hurt, and fearless.

The second one was kind of boring, but hey, it was worth meeting his fellow prisoners. "Night shift gotten more interesting?"

Naoya let out a wide yawn as he was escorted to the Sun Room. His brain was still a bit fuzzy, but the extra hour to sleep was just what he needed to regain the energy that he lost during Arts and Crafts. But had his mind been fooling him...? Had he been so out of it that he had imagined...?

As much as he wanted to, he was almost afraid to close his eyes and try to seek out his brother. If lunch was all just something he dreamed up and he did try to reach his brother now... It would hurt. It would hurt worse than knowing his brother being here was dreamed up and Naoya wasn't sure if he could deal with that right now. The young man sighed and stretched a moment before sitting himself down on an empty couch.
