Castiel
20 September 2012 @ 11:48 am
When the shift changed, Gabriel didn't hesitate to take his leave, and Castiel couldn't blame him for that. He likely had other people he wanted to talk to, and as a newer patient, he might even be curious about some of the other areas. Castiel had seen it all multiple times by now, so when his nurse asked him if he wanted to move elsewhere, he declined.

It seemed better to remain in one spot for as long as he could and stay still so that his body wasn't pushed past its limits. His nurse couldn't argue with that, so instead she went to go get him some more painkillers, which he swallowed down instantly.

Relying on human drugs... It seemed ridiculous, though Dean had once given him a whole bottle to take. He wouldn't mind doing so again, but with the way his body was right now, that likely wasn't a good idea. So he'd just have to go along with what the nurses allowed him.

"Though Michael, you should really try to eat," his nurse insisted as she set a brown bag into his lap. "I know you're hurting a lot right now, but you'll feel better if you can get some food down."

Maybe she was right, but when Castiel stared at the bag, it seemed like a trial to even open it. Maybe if he just drank something... Slowly, he lifted his hand to push the bag open and reached inside to see what was there.

"There we go," the nurse encouraged him with a smile. "I'll be close-by in case you need anything."

At that point, she walked off, and he was left alone again. Maybe after he drank something, he could even see about getting some rest. Humans could sleep sitting up, couldn't they?

Anise Tatlin

Anise still felt awful. She hadn’t even bothered using make-up to cover her rash today – one glance was enough to tell she was sick anyway. The fever had been persisting for the past couple days, sometimes getting better or worse, but never quite going away. She was tired and sore and sweaty, and she knew she looked awful.

But there were still things to be done. She needed to talk to Barnaby, for one, though she hadn’t managed to catch the guy. She left a note on the bulletin, hoping he was present and willing to talk.

With that done, Anise took the bagged lunch she was handed and made her way out into the Courtyard. She didn’t want a whole lot of people seeing her looking so sick, and besides, the cool air felt nice against her skin. Anise walked for a while, finding a secluded place far from the doors, and sat herself down on a bench. She hadn’t eaten at breakfast, and she was really hungry… but she still didn’t feel like actually eating. As a sort of compromise, she started by taking a few sips from the juice box.

Rita Mordio

What the hell even happened last night? Rita remembered struggling with some kind of snake, and then… everything got kind of fuzzy from there. She knew what she saw, but she also knew it couldn’t have been real. It was more like a dream, but then, what was happening in reality while she was ‘dreaming’? Damn it, she must have looked like an idiot!

Rita was getting sick of all these tricks and hallucinations. The next time she encountered a monster, she was going to roast it to ashes, just out of spite.

Still seething, she brought her lunch to the Library and found an empty table to sit at. She went there almost automatically, and silently glared at her surroundings. The useless books, the place where that monster attacked her last night, the trap door she’d once again been unable to pass through… everything about this place was getting on her nerves.

She took an angry bite out of her sandwich, as if even that had wronged her somehow.

Link

Link willingly obeyed his nurse's urge for him to get up and move around. There were several rooms branching off the Sun Room that he had yet to explore. Link made his way into a place the nurse called the "Game Room" after the boss's announcements clicked off.

It wasn't anything special. There were no nooks or crannies to be explored, no doors leading deeper. Dead ends, though, were often never what they seemed. Link took a look around, opening game boxes and looking inside them for anything potentially useful.

He frowned upon seeing the small, strange items sitting on a low-set table. Link picked one up, inspecting it carefully with a slight frown on his face. While flipping the shiny object open and closed (it was on a hinge.), his thumb caught on a tiny lever of sorts on the side, and the once black surface lit up with a strange sort of unnatural sound, almost like a bell. The Hylian jumped, fumbling the magic picture box for a moment. He closed it a second later, but the sound (Now it was playing music!) did not stop.

Link could only hope to the goddesses that he had not just released some horrible magic power. Here, he could never truly know.

Gabriel
20 September 2012 @ 07:20 pm
Gabriel, no matter how hypocritical or snide Landel's well-wishes might have been under the veneer of niceness, had actually in fact had a rather nice morning. He'd managed to help Skulduggery eat something and checked in with Castiel. His brother's illness was, to all appearances, gone. Although the surgery itself wasn't going to be easy to recover from, at least that was an injury Castiel has chosen and wouldn't turn him into a monster.

So the Archangel was humming absently as he was led outside, smiling and, for the moment, more convinced than ever that he was where his Master intended him to be. Rachel had made it known she didn't think it would be a good idea for him to hover, so after making sure Castiel would be okay Gabriel had asked to go to the greenhouse this lunch-time, thinking of Lee and still with the idea of possibly making smoothies. Rachel had thrown up her hands and shaken her head when he toed off his shoes at the doorway, but she got her own back once they reached the greenhouse and Gabriel surveyed the stony path ruefully.

"Now maybe this will teach you to keep them on," she said, shaking a finger, taking the slippers and crouching to slide them onto his feet as if he was a child. "It's for your own good, you know. You'll injure your feet if you go around like that all the time."

"I'm sorry," Gabe said with a smile, not as repentant as he probably should have been and using the mischief to hide the ache in his chest. This woman was, at best, brainwashed and cursed to turn into a monster at night. He almost hoped she was complicit; the alternative was nearly too much to bear.

Still, as awful as the thought was, he set it aside as best as he could to avoid ruining his thus-far nice day. While Rachel watched from one of the tables, Gabe wandered through the greenhouse, eating his beef sandwich from the hand while enjoying the company of the plants and keeping an eye out for any fruit-trees.
