The Intercom
08 June 2012 @ 03:09 am
As the nurses began to get ready to escort patients out of the cafeteria, the intercom jingle sounded over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, patients!" the Head Doctor's voice cheerfuly boomed through the speakers. "I hope everyone is pleasantly full from today's brunch selection! Some of you have a nice surprise waiting for you at the front of the building. Those who have visitors today will be escorted by their nurses to meet them. We hope you're looking forward to it!"

There was a brief pause that was only punctuated by the shuffling of papers.

"As for today's movie selection, the votes are in, aaaaand it looks like 'Jesus Christ Superstar' -- the original 1973 version, of course -- took first place. The nurses have kindly set up a projection screen in the Sun Room, where our show will be playing for both third and fourth shift. Feel free to grab a chair and watch for however long you'd like. Otherwise, everyone has a free choice of where to go for this shift. Enjoy!"

The intercom clicked off, leaving everyone to pick where they'd like to go for the shift -- that is, unless they were "lucky" enough to receive a visitor.

((Like the announcement says, there's a movie playing in the Sun Room, but it's also free choice. Visitors will take place in Waiting Room / Lobby 1 and 2. Let us know if you have any questions!))

James Wilson

Having to work on a Sunday might have been something that Wilson complained about, if it wasn't for the fact that his schedule here was always so light. Even when he'd had a heavier schedule back at Princeton-Plainsboro, he couldn't say that working on Sundays was a thing that never happened. He couldn't count the number of times that he'd sacrificed his free time to go into the office and do paperwork or dictations or whatever else needed to be done.

It was part of being a doctor, honestly. Anyone who didn't think that their life was going to get consumed by it was probably delusional.

That being said, Wilson felt he'd done a decent job of keeping his interactions with the patients strictly professional. He could have tried to track down some of them in Doyleton yesterday, for instance, but he'd refrained. The idea of getting too tangled up with a mental patient was something even he wasn't about to get involved with.

Despite having to come in on a Sunday, though, Wilson was only needed after lunch, and so he was working on a full stomach as he entered his office and sat down at his desk. Today he would be seeing two patients: Jude, or Allelujah, the man with the split personality -- and someone new, a Watanabe Yori. Wilson got his files in order and then waited, curious to see who would walk through the doors first.

Guy Cecil

While Guy's conversation with Tear had taken a more somber tone in the end, he was still glad to have confirmed that the girl was all right. Sleeping in was not her style in the slightest, but seeing how something similar had happened to him recently, Guy knew how easily it could happen. In the end, he hadn't suffered any ill effects as a result of that day spent asleep, so he was going to not worry too much about Tear.

Anise was the one he was more worked up about, especially because he didn't know who she had told about her illness so far. Was he the only one? Was she planning to tell the others? Guy didn't feel right keeping it from them, but he didn't want to run around spilling Anise's secrets, either. It was something he was going to have to check with her as soon as he could.

In the meantime, it seemed like the movie that he and Claude had decided to vote for had been picked as the one they would be watching this afternoon. Claude was definitely going to be happy about that, and Guy was pretty excited to see it too, now that he had some idea of what it was about. Calling some sort of religious figure who had sacrificed himself a "superstar" certainly seemed odd, which was probably why it had stood out to Claude in the first place.

When Guy entered the Sun Room, he saw that his friend hadn't made it there yet and that the staff was still setting up the projector. With his first pick of the couches, Guy made sure to choose one that had a clear view of the screen but wasn't so close that it might hurt their eyes. He took a seat and then kept an eye out for Claude, figuring that the younger man would be along any minute now.

Castiel
08 June 2012 @ 04:11 pm
With how he was feeling between the wound on his shoulder and the overall body aches the illness was plaguing him with, Castiel hadn't minded the opportunity to eat on his own. For once, no other patients came over to speak with him, possibly because the pain he was in was noticeable somehow. Either way, he'd managed to eat enough to quell the twisting in his stomach and had then, against all attempts, fallen asleep.

It was the first time such a thing had happened when it hadn't been forced on him, and it was only when a nurse shook his shoulder that he woke up, half in a daze, and realized what had happened. While it was disturbing to realize to what extent his body was shutting down on him, the nap had at least eased up some of the pain that he was in.

With the second shift having passed far quicker than expected due to that unexpected doze, Castiel now had to decide where he wished to go next. It seemed that he wasn't due to see a doctor or a "visitor" at this point, but when Castiel stepped into the Sun Room he was told that they would be playing a film called "Jesus Christ Superstar."

In other words, remaining in that room wasn't an option.

As usual, his first choice in such a situation was to go to the library, and so that was where he ended up. The silence was even more of a relief than usual, due to the state he was in, and he quickly found himself a book to read -- Dracula -- and took a seat.
