Nightshift 26: M31-40 Hallway

[From Here]

He’d walked past the bathroom Usopp had introduced him to on the first night, before heading directly towards the last hallway in this particular block. It was rather fortunate that he was placed so close to his ally’s location, and he found it more of just a matter of playing a waiting game as he silently marched down the hallway.

Passing by the other rooms without too much notice, Yuber’s movements came to a stop just after halfway down the corridor as he came across M33. It took a little rearranging, but the knight managed to hold the two blades and the torch in one hand, before he neatly folded his arms across his chest. He didn’t bother with his usual tactic of simply entering into the room, but instead found himself comfortably leaning with his back up against the wall while he waited for Usopp to emerge.

The knight was only hoping that he wouldn’t be kept waiting for too long.

Kon followed after Reinforce and Raine calmly, forcing himself to walk normally despite the pain in his leg. It wasn't that bad, but it just meant that he had to be careful with the weight he put on it either way. He glanced between the two women, observing them both thoughtfully. Were it any other situation, he would've been instantly 'trying to charm' them (as he would put it) but it was this situation. They'd saved him and there was a risk of the monsters returning.

Maybe he'd try it later.

"So, er." He rubbed at the back of his head a little, before flashing a brief smile. Right, small talk after being all jittery. That was effective. "Who're you two? I'm Kon."

"I'm Reinforce." She left Raine to introduce herself. "It is just 'Kon'?" Some cultures didn't use surnames, of course, but where she'd come from it was a common feature of people like herself. Which was to say, people who weren't really people.

She wasn't, she realized belatedly, going to be able to help with the first aid with her hand covered in gore. That meant more practice for the St. Francis children, of course, but she'd rather be able to attend to things herself if the need arose. Though she'd technically never given medical aid before either, she couldn't help but think of her knowledge as making her more experienced.

But regardless, to see blood on her hands again made her wonder where she'd gotten that temper from. Had she always been like this? Had it arisen out of the time she'd been broken? Or was it not really hers at all...?

"Raine Sage," she replied, curious herself about the lack of last name--there might be a lot of reasons for that, and she was always interested in hearing about other cultures. The next time she and Reinforce were alone with nothing to do, she needed to finally ask about some of the societies Reinforce had known. Raine didn't even care which, since she'd apparently never heard of any of them; she just wanted to learn about them. Education for its own sake was always worthwhile in her eyes...
