Nightshift 26: M31-40 Hallway
[From Here]
He’d walked past the bathroom Usopp had introduced him to on the first night, before heading directly towards the last hallway in this particular block. It was rather fortunate that he was placed so close to his ally’s location, and he found it more of just a matter of playing a waiting game as he silently marched down the hallway.
Passing by the other rooms without too much notice, Yuber’s movements came to a stop just after halfway down the corridor as he came across M33. It took a little rearranging, but the knight managed to hold the two blades and the torch in one hand, before he neatly folded his arms across his chest. He didn’t bother with his usual tactic of simply entering into the room, but instead found himself comfortably leaning with his back up against the wall while he waited for Usopp to emerge.
The knight was only hoping that he wouldn’t be kept waiting for too long.

Hopefully he wouldn't have to wait too long.

Nonetheless, he made his way through the few meters separating their doors to the boy, who was already waiting for him and stopped beside him.
"You have some kind of job to do tonight?" It was as good as a hello, not nearly as good as an apology but unlike Yohji, he had not learned to apologize quite yet.

Quickly, Caim looked around and slipped out of his room, heading for the nearest hallway so he could try and track Farfarello down.

He had not made any plans with anyone, but he was confident it would not be too difficult to locate them, so Wesker set out to find his team.
Funny, how he had already come to think of them in such terms.

The sense of dread in the air had only reinforced what he'd already planned for tonight. Like his first night, he wore two shirts and his coat, not to mention two pairs of pants--hell if monster leeches were going to be biting him that easily again! Which was a confident thought, but he was feeling rather shaky as he spotted Yuber and quickened his steps over. He was carrying only his frying pan as a weapon right now.
"Y-Yuber." Usopp gestured for the knight to lean down closer, so that Usopp might whisper confidences in his ear. His eyes glanced over the blades and widened a bit, but he didn't comment. And instead of saying what he'd meant to say, he instead asked, "Do you feel... something weird in the air? Say... l-like we're all gonna die, or something?" It was a reasonable question, he thought. Usopp did get those feelings a lot, but this particular instance seemed a bit different somehow. Usually he at least needed some sort of horrible monster out to kill him before that, or a looming island that could potentially contain horrible monsters out to kill him, or, well, something.

As the door to Usopp’s room finally opened, Yuber felt a single brow rise up in question as he caught sight of his ally. From what he remembered of the other Usopp was naturally skittish, but it seemed as though tonight it was only enhanced as he caught sight of the double layer of clothing, and the frying pan held within their grasp.
Leaning down wordlessly after Usopp gestured, he didn’t miss the stutter in their voice as he listened to the whispered words. The words spoken to him caused a small amused breath to huff past his lips, and after he’d straightened himself, Yuber shook his head slightly as he murmured. “There is most certainly a heavy atmosphere weighing the air tonight.” Unfolding his arms, one fell gracefully back down to his side while the other moved up to absently brush aside his blonde bangs. “But such an atmosphere will only get to you if you allow it to be so.”
Maybe it was because he was so use to being the one causing such a negative air that the atmosphere wasn’t affecting him too much, but Usopp was already skittish enough without having to add more to the equation.

To get supplies, of course. And food. But supplies, too! Though that food was sounding pretty good!
He didn't waste much time getting ready. With his hat on his head, he pulled his trusty frying pan out of the closet before gingerly removing the treasured soldiering iron right after it. For a gleeful moment, the pirate debated on going outside to try and find Usopp, but then he remembered that he had a special treasure that needed protecting, and, in a shockingly rare moment of foresight, decided that maybe it'd be better for him to stay in one spot while he looked after it. Usopp knew where he was, so he'd come find him.
Of course, he hoped the sharpshooter showed up sooner than later. Treasure or no, Luffy wasn't really the type to stick around in one spot any longer than five or ten minutes. He couldn't guarantee how long his patience would last.
In the meantime, he plopped himself down onto his bed, frying pan on one side of his body, soldiering iron on the other, and he folded his arms over his chest, simply waiting for a little bit.
Re: M37
"Luffy!" Usopp knocked once before coming in, figuring Luffy wasn't the kind of person who felt his privacy was too important. "You ready for tonight's kitchen adventure?" He was grinning, although it felt a little manic, the weird rush of thrill at secrecy from his meeting with Yuber combining with the odd and unnerving atmosphere tonight. Maybe he should get a second opinion...
"And do you get a really awful feeling about tonight? Like something horrible's going to happen, maybe?" The grin faltered.

...he was kind of relieved that he hadn't been chosen for this night. If he had, Indra would have been even more dangerously ravenous. Instead, Roland could control himself and try to do the right thing. And if that was possible, then perhaps he'd get the chance to increase his total value. With that he could defy Aidou and get some of those shackles off of him. He could hope, anyway.
no subject
But Roland hated being idle. It was aggravating, and now that he'd been given a new lease on life, he had to take every opportunity he had. Perhaps it would be best to visit that one whom he had savaged earlier... it was a risk, now that he knew that the other could actually provide sustenance, and with the hunger he was feeling, but Roland knew he could contain himself. And the pain of that hunger would be at least some penance towards the boy he'd mistreated.
With that in mind, Roland strolled off towards the room in question, hoping that Ginji couldn't put two and two together.

Exiting his room, Kurama hurried down the hall. Last night, he'd seen his friend in room M28. It was the best place to look if he wanted to find Hiei.

The serial killer wasn't too sure of what to make of the announcement. Sounded like they had a few backstabbers in their midsts, and it wasn't them! Still, Landels had left some hints or something about their identities, which, in their shared opinion, was delightfully assholish of him. It also meant that Kasady had to be careful what to feed the staff here if he decided to go that route.
Never tip the entire hand off at once, and maybe that's what they did wrong. They gave the Head Doc too much and now he didn't have a need for 'em. Which meant he'd just thrown them right back to the wolves.
'Course Carnage didn't feel like getting too involved right now. What they did want was some front row seats, and that meant heading for the second floor.

Right now, he focused on what he was going to do tonight. He'd told Tamaki he'd see about the medical meeting he was holding a few doors down. He could easily slip into that for a few minutes. He also had told Kon that he would travel around with him so not to be alone.
Also there was Haruhi. He needed to find Haruhi. There was no telling what she was doing right now. If only he had thought to get her room number, dammit.
To much to think about, to much to process. Oh, was that a radio post? Shit, he needed to take notes on that. Dammit! He was no good at figuring out riddles. Koizumi could though, why the hell wasn't he here? Never mind all that. He needed to head out. Kon was waiting for him.
(Outside M33)
Kurama hurried back down the hall from Hiei's room, turning the brief encounter over in his head. Hiei still seemed to be as uncooperative as ever. And though he highly doubted that the smaller demon would be able to accomplish what a hundred or so other patients could, he was more than welcome to try. As long as he didn't get himself killed over it. The last thing Kurama needed was to see another friend disappear from this place.
Reaching Sousuke's room, Kurama paused outside and waited. He hadn't been gone long. No more than a minute or two. Since his traveling companion wasn't in sight, it was likely he hadn't left his room yet. But Kurama was patient, he could wait.

He stretched langruously, limbering himself up for the night. The wounds were still pulling a bit, but they were clean and healing up. That was all he could ask for really.
He grabbed his trust vegetable peeler and headed out. No real aim, just a bit of exploring.

Sheska had finally made it to the hall that she was fairly certain would lead to Mr Tamaki. She checked the first and second numbers and then dashed towards number 35, skidding to a halt and turning quickly towards the door as she reached it.

It would have been a lot better to have been able to catch up with the others earlier, not to mention know what they were up to tonight, but things didn't always like working out the way you expected them, right?
Contagious kid injuries or whatever aside, though, Allen and the others were in one piece, as far Ravi knew, so that was something.
Well, there was always tomorrow for comparing notes or something like that.
Ravi set out to make his way through the dark hallways.

"Finally," Raine muttered. "So, having had time to try to deal with it... this is still nothing like I've ever experienced. I've heard references to an aura of fear, but I'm not certain if this is what the tales mean; what do you think?"
It wasn't hurting them, so she was guessing it was simply a scare tactic... if a highly effective one. The fact that distance traveled didn't seem to change anything was intriguing--despite everything, she did wish studying it was possible!

"Is it fearsome to you?" Rein asked pityingly. "I only feel hunger." She had no answers as to what the effect might be or how it might work- there were illusions in Midchildan magic but no spells that could directly affect the mind. Energy and matter, space and force were their domains.
She could affect minds, of course... but only those that had already become part of her. She'd had no reason to inspire terror in those poor lost souls.

Soubi could feel everything quicken. His heart, his feet, his thoughts, his moods. Even that thick air of forboding seemed to be weakening in light of his newly aquired information.

No Kurama either.
Frowning, he poked his head inside the room adjacent to his. Still no Kurama. Did he forget? Maybe an emergency came up. After all, people were brainwashed in this place.
He was antsy. Impatient. Odd, he'd never felt this way before a mission. Perhaps because he'd never had to wait. The Captain gave him his orders, he suited up and launched. Sergeant Major Mao and Kurz were always running right alongside him.
It felt unnatural to be standing in a strange place without them. Hell, it felt unnatural to be standing in a strange place with nothing but a closet rod and paper sacks full of flour and chili powder. How on earth could he perform a rescue mission with nothing but this?
No, no thoughts like that. Sousuke had performed countless successful missions with less to work with. If Kaname truly was in this place, he would rescue her. He was sure of it.
However, rescuing her also involved actually moving. He could wait a little longer. No! Kaname came first! His charge came first.
Gritting his teeth, he muttered, "Sorry, Kurama-san," and took off down the hallway.

As Kyon burst into the next hallway, his step had slowed down considerably without him realizing it. He didn't stop though, not for anything. Kon, for all he knew was getting ripped to pieces and was depending on Kyon to get him some help.
His ankles suddenly went weak and he almost stumbled to the ground. He steadied himself on the wall near by and caught his breath for a few seconds while still moving. That cat had taken a chunk out of his back, he could feel the blood seeping past his shirt and down his legs. This was many shades of not good.
He didn't like the idea of passing out in this place, so he kept going.

Reinforce dashed up the hall, the need to aid Kyon's friend outweighing what she considered the small chance of the nightshift denzines being bright enough to mount an ambush for arriving reinforcements. It had been her experience that they were animals in mind as well as (approximate) form, adept at stalking perhaps but not at deeper tactics.
"Save your energy for healing," Reinforce instructed Raine as they ran. "I'll attack using half my magic, and if that isn't enough to defeat the enemy I'll use the other half to cover your retreat with his friend."
Though, she left unsaid, if Kyon's friend was in the same civilian mold as Tamaki and his friends anything powerful enough that she couldn't gain the advantage on even with a weapon and her full compliment of stored magical power would likely have killed him already...

Kon followed after Reinforce and Raine calmly, forcing himself to walk normally despite the pain in his leg. It wasn't that bad, but it just meant that he had to be careful with the weight he put on it either way. He glanced between the two women, observing them both thoughtfully. Were it any other situation, he would've been instantly 'trying to charm' them (as he would put it) but it was this situation. They'd saved him and there was a risk of the monsters returning.
Maybe he'd try it later.
"So, er." He rubbed at the back of his head a little, before flashing a brief smile. Right, small talk after being all jittery. That was effective. "Who're you two? I'm Kon."

She wasn't, she realized belatedly, going to be able to help with the first aid with her hand covered in gore. That meant more practice for the St. Francis children, of course, but she'd rather be able to attend to things herself if the need arose. Though she'd technically never given medical aid before either, she couldn't help but think of her knowledge as making her more experienced.
But regardless, to see blood on her hands again made her wonder where she'd gotten that temper from. Had she always been like this? Had it arisen out of the time she'd been broken? Or was it not really hers at all...?
