DAY 26: Men's Showers (Second Shift)

Gluttony didn't want to leave his Lust, not after he'd just found her!  But the mean tasty nurses said he had to.  "You can't join her in the women's showers" was a bad excuse.  He didn't like the mean tasty nurses.  Maybe Lust would let him eat them later.  Still, he knew he would see his Lust again, and that was good.  He liked Lust.  She was good and beautiful and smart and kind.  Why did they have to take him away from his Lust?

Still, he would see her again.  And she would tell him it was okay to eat the tasty nurses, and that would be good.  His new friend liked eating people, too.  That made him happy to find a friend who shared a love for eating people.  Today was a very good day.

As he entered the showers, he stood under a shower head and opened his mouth wide to drink up the water.  It wasn't as good as eating people, or eating waffles that didn't scream when he bit into them so weren't nearly as good as eating people, but it was still swallowing something, and that made him feel better.

William blinked his eyes open at the greeting, it seemed he'd get his chance to continue questioning sooner than he had thought. Turning his eyes to the other man though, William visibly paused. Wesker's eyes... were very inhuman. If William had not already decided that any experimenting on Wesker was off limits (something about loyalties and the like) then he would have becoming a truly frightening man indeed.

Instead he was merely thoughtful as he studied the other man's face for a moment.

"I am to take it your plan succeeded?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Quite," He closed his eyes before continuing. "I was stabbed through the chest by the tyrant and managed to survive it. I am very nearly impossible to kill."

He had other interesting effects of the virus as well, the enhanced senses, the strength and speed, but he wasn't in any hurry to tell William everything.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"That is always convenient," William replied thoughtfully, eyes studying Wesker for a moment longer before returning his focus to showering. While the other man had not mentioned it, William knew about the other possible effects of the G-virus. After heading the project and studying the virus until it was perfected that was inevitable.

Whether Wesker was in possession of them was the question though, the virus had been altered afterall. Yet by the sounds of it, the other man must have gained something to survive a Tyrant.

"How long have you been here?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've been here for about six days," He wasn't really certain how much time was passing in this place, but that sounded about right for how long he had been in Landels.

"They conduct experiments on the patients at night, and brainwash them on other nights to turn them against the rest of us. Last night they would have had experiments, so tonight people will be taken and brainwashed."

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
William kept quiet as he listened to Wesker speak. Brainwashing? Experimentation? Wesker had said more than enough for William to die a happy man, not that it was going to happen any time soon. Not if he had anything to do with it, anyway

If they were conducting experiments, they had to have the chemicals and the equipment. If they had the supplies, they had to have somewhere to keep said supplies (unless they were far more unorganized than they let on). In any case, they had what William wanted and he'd be damned before he let it out of his sights.

"Is there any particular reason for this?" To break them? To terrorize them? Or perhaps the man behind it all was simply insane. "Would you happen to have any ideas as to where this brainwashing happens?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am not entirely sure why they are doing this, if you take your radio with you at night you'll find that there is a man speaking over it who is apparently trying to help the patients stop this place. Not that he's very good at helping us," He was annoyed with the man for just sitting back there and doing nothing.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No on the location for brainwashing then. He would have to do a bit of research then, William had a feeling that if he searched around he'd find someone who would know the location. Or if he wandered around he'd stumble on it. Time consuming, but still effective.

"Ah, yes, I heard him last night," William chuckled at the memory. His roommate was bothersome, but it was endlessly amusing to watch him panic. "I believe he enjoys his riddles far too much."

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I feel I should tell you now, before you meet her, that I have a daughter, William," Wesker wasn't quite sure what all to say about this, but the better he explained it now the less he'd have to answer later.

"She has only the regenerative ability, and none of the other enhancements brought about by the virus."

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
William visibly paused again, more surprised than anything. Being a family man was not something the doctor had pictured Wesker becoming (even in the five years of his death) yet the other man continued to surprise him. Yet another reason not to experiment on him, he didn't grow boring as time went on.

"Do I know the lucky lady or did you decide to adopt?" The last part caught William's attention more than anything. "Regenerative? Was she experimented on or is this a natural ability?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't know the lucky lady, she doesn't either. The mother had her after we... parted ways... and gave her up for adoption," There were people here who could read minds so it was best if the truth was in as few minds as possible. "And it is a naturally occurring ability as far as I have been able to tell."

This was quite honestly one of the last things he ever expected to be telling William.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
How touching. A story of love, loss, tragedy and reunion. It nearly brought tears to his eyes. A slow smile had start on William's face as Wesker went on with his explanation. When the other man finished William sent him a sly glance which, if Wesker was looking, clearly said he wasn't fooled.

"If you didn't want to talk about it you could have just said so." Before Wesker could even think about protesting the doctor added, "You need not worry, I have never been interested in family matters."

And this was true, well, beyond his own anyway. But that was a completely different story. Whether this girl was really Wesker's daughter held none of William's interest in the least. There were much more important things to ponder over.

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-12 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Wesker opened his eyes to give William a brief, somewhat annoyed glare as he was cut off before he could even say anything.

"At least try to be nice with her, don't mention anything incriminating, and no experimenting on her, William. She's mine... speaking of daughters, though, I've taken care of yours since you died," Although William hadn't asked about her, and honestly he had to wonder if he'd even thought about the girl since arriving.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-12 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
William grinned. "I thought I told you not to worry. You insult my amount of self-control if you honestly believe I lose my mind at the first sight of anything remotely interesting or that I would actually go around talking about experimenting to just about anyone."

Really, William was just amused. Wesker and annoyance was always entertaining when there wasn't much to do. The doctor's amusement was quick to fade though at the topic of his own daughter. William flashed the other man a sharp look, clearly displeased with the news.

"...What?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-12 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"She was one of the few survivors of Raccoon city, and I abducted her from the people she had escaped with. The very people who killed you, after you mutated, had decided to take care of her. Annette was dead, so I took her and have been keeping an eye on her," Wesker, anticipating Birkin's next question, cut him off.

"She doesn't have the virus. I, however, managed to take a sample of it from your corpse."

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-12 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Grabbing a small amount of soap from a nearby dispenser, William stepped out of the stream of water and carefully lathered his hair with soap, his face still maintaining a very displeased expression. He had no issues with the idea that Wesker had been taking care of his daughter, no, but William could easily recall his implicit instructions for Annette to take Sherry and leave on the train should anything go awry. She would have had more than enough clearance to get to wherever she wished.

"Annette was still in the Research Facility when she died." It was more of a statement than a question. He should have known better than to believe that fool of a woman would actually leave! "What was she doing there?"

Stepping back into the watter, the doctor ducked his head, allowing the soap to be rinsed from his hair. "And how did these people come to meet Sherry?"

It was very easy to see that if there was any kind and loving god, they would avoid bringing Annette to Landel's for fear of what William might do.

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"They found her in the Raccoon city police department. One of them was Claire Redfield, younger sister to one of my STARS subordinates, the other Leon Kennedy, a new cop who arrive after the outbreak. As for what Annette was doing," Wesker paused for a moment before continuing. "I would rather not speculate on the inner workings of that woman." Wesker had never liked Annette.

She wasn't particularly talented, or particularly smart. She didn't have very good common sense either, but she was dedicated. And certainly quite loyal to William.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
The police department. Annette had sent her only daughter to the heart of the city during a viral outbreak. Her reasoning, which William could easily guess, was making him wonder if perhaps he had married an idiot. Well, more of an idiot than he had initially believed.

"I see." All too well, unfortunately. "And Sherry was where when you last saw her?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"She's being taken care of by some of my people. I have her in a secure location." Wesker was keeping a close eye on her, just in case.

"Don't worry about her, William."

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
William nodded. He could trust Wesker to do an efficient job at keeping Sherry out of the wrong hands (Especially those who would see there was something very different about her). Wesker had yet to disprove this by doing anything stupid, so William would just have to remain content with this knowledge.

Now to more important topics, before he developed a headache just from thinking about Annette right now.

"Exactly how did each of us arrive here?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"I have absolutely no idea. The last thing I remember was sitting in my base. I don't remember anyone attacking me, one moment I was there, the next I woke up here in bed," It was quite unsettling, really. The same way he woke up in Landels each morning.

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
To pull someone from the dead was one thing, but to abduct someone then completely remove all memory of the incident ever happening was completely new altogether. Even with chemicals or hypnotism (or whatever else that could have been done to alter the mind and its memories) there was some sort of remnant of memory left behind.

"Whoever is behind all of this is very skilled, I must say."

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, they are quite advanced. They have abducted everyone here, no one, as far as I know, remembers being taken, anyone with enhanced abilities has been weakened, and each morning we suddenly appear in our beds," Wesker had absolutely know idea what they were doing, to be able to maintain such a level of effectiveness. Then again, patients did vanish entirely on occasion. Perhaps they became resistant to whatever methods were being used and had to be removed?

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
William frowned thoughtfully. Wasn't this just a grand mystery. At least he wouldn't be bored during the day, William could admit this to himself. Especially if he had things to learn and research rather than just sit around all day long.

The other inmates wouldn't have to suffer the mind games if this kept him busy, that was for certain.

"There are more people with enhanced abilities? Not just your daughter?"

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-08-13 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, there is a man here who can move objects with his mind. Apparently he's also from some movie Claire watched. And then there is someone I experimented on after you died. Jack Krauser, there are others too, I am sure," Wesker was quite impressed with how many unusual people Landel had managed to abduct.
