DAY 26: Men's Showers (Second Shift)

Gluttony didn't want to leave his Lust, not after he'd just found her!  But the mean tasty nurses said he had to.  "You can't join her in the women's showers" was a bad excuse.  He didn't like the mean tasty nurses.  Maybe Lust would let him eat them later.  Still, he knew he would see his Lust again, and that was good.  He liked Lust.  She was good and beautiful and smart and kind.  Why did they have to take him away from his Lust?

Still, he would see her again.  And she would tell him it was okay to eat the tasty nurses, and that would be good.  His new friend liked eating people, too.  That made him happy to find a friend who shared a love for eating people.  Today was a very good day.

As he entered the showers, he stood under a shower head and opened his mouth wide to drink up the water.  It wasn't as good as eating people, or eating waffles that didn't scream when he bit into them so weren't nearly as good as eating people, but it was still swallowing something, and that made him feel better.

Faust was slient for a long while, washing offthe grime of the night and trying to see if the water would wash away his faliure. He wa going to try harder tonight.

He wondered if perhaps his temporary neighbor knew the answer. He did not look at the dark haired man when he spoke.

"Forgive my rudeness," he said, voice tired and soft. "But do you know where the mourge in this place might be?"

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He sighed softly. Of course it was too good to last. It always was. At least the man hadn't broken the silence to ask his name or something equally irrelevant.

Years' worth of ingrained masks forced his tone into a semblance of polite conversation. "No, I'm afraid not. I would assume it to be somewhere not easily accessible to the average prisoner here."

He stopped himself from asking why the other might wish to know. That would be inviting conversation, and he didn't want that. However curious the request for information might have been.

Sighing, Faust ducked his head under the spray for a moment. When he spoke it was mostly to himself, as if he weren't aware he was speaking aloud.

"Of course it would be. So was the pharmacy. Damned vermin. Perhaps she is in the same area then? Medical facilities on the second floor?" He shook his head and trailed off, reaching up to press a hand to his discolored and scared chest. Eliza... He would find her; she'd sworn she would not leave him again and he knew that she would not. That she wanted to stay by his side for the rest of time.

They had to be keeping her locked away somewhere and the best place to look would be the morgue.

Why was he considering holding a conversation in the shower? He was going to regret this, wasn't he. He mentally cursed himself for being as stupid as Sanzo had always implied.

"If you're looking for something, it's unlikely they'll have left it sitting out. As far as I've been able to tell, they've separated us quite well from anything we might find familiar." Except those things they could use to make their lives here worse. Those could still be found. "And I believe the medical wing is here on the first floor, from what I've heard."

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Faust blinked, startled from his thoughts by the dark haired man and he turned slowly to look at him. Despite the dark circles and exhausted manner, Faust looked alert now and calculating. "Ah, forgive me. I meant the larger medical facilities..." He turned back the the wall with a thoughtful expression.

"I was speaking of the facilites that we would not be allowed to go to under any circumstances, such as the Pharmacy and the Morgue." His frown deepened. "I simply thought that perhaps down was the better choice for storing the dead. All previous hospitals I've been involved with did the same. But here... things are certainly different." By the end of his sentence, it was again as if Faust were speaking to himself.

Hakkai mentally shrugged. He didn't know enough about this place to really be of much help to anyone in the first place, and it wasn't really in his temperament to offer much help in such a situation.

Which made him wonder again why he had ever bothered to reply to the message on the bulletin board, but he chalked it up to weakness. His healing was a gift from an otherwise destructive curse, and so it was a duty to use it for others' gain. A duty which did not apply to less concrete things like information.

If the blond was going to talk to himself, Hakkai was more than happy to let him.

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Left to his own thoughts, Faust did indeed mutter to himself. He had picked up the habit in those eight years between. Something, he told himself at the time, to keep his sanity. And just look at how well that had worked...

"Most likely place she'll be is there.... should be below, but what if it's not? ... Can't waste time." What if his beloved angel was frightened without him by her side?

"Eliza..."

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
So he was looking for a woman. Ah well, not everyone was as intelligent as they seemed at first. Hakkai couldn't quite stop his usual smile taking on just an edge of disdain. He'd found her, hadn't he, and look how well that had turned out. "If she isn't among the patients she isn't here, and I don't think you'll enjoy meeting with her if she's already been and gone."

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
A muscle jumped in Faust's jaw and he turned again to face the other man. "Pardon me?" His voice sounded slightly strained. "If this place succedes where I have been failing, then I will gladly take her in any form I see."

This man couldn't understand. He didn't know the pain of losing your love and then having her back, only to have this... HELL rip her from you once more.

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
No, of course Hakkai couldn't understand. He'd never gotten his back, after all.

"Ah. Of course. I didn't mean to question your devotion." His smile was as calm and self-effacing as it ever was, almost mocking in it's lack of outward emotion. If this one couldn't see that anything he cared for could and would be twisted... Well, either he would learn, or he would be luckier than Hakkai, which, frankly, wasn't all that hard.

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Everything stopped for Faust. His vision seemed to slow everything down as he turned to Look at Hakkai. If he'd only had the ability, this man would be dying at his feet right now, as it was, he closed his eyes and turned away, as if trying to regain his composure.

Instead, he spun on the ball of his foot and lashed out with his fist with the intention of killing this man with his bare hands.

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hakkai had been in his fair share of fights. Some of them he had even instigated in one way or another. Most of them he had finished.

He had never been in one in a shower.

He moved instinctively to block the punch, not entirely sure what had caused the violent reaction, but knowing better than to think on it now. An unknown opponent in an enclosed area with bad footing when he was at much less than full power. He felt his wound start to open again as he moved into a more defensive stance.

Make that 'an unknown opponent in an enclosed area with bad footing at less than full power and wounded.' Great.

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Faust wasn't even seeing an injured man which would, in any other situation, cause him to stop instantly. All he saw was a man who had DARED to insult his ANGEL! Death was too good for him. He felt nothing, and had fought in worse situations.

With his power.

Now, it was him against this ... bastard. He lashed out again.

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
It was really only a matter of time before Hakkai backed into a corner or another person. Neither was a enjoyable option. And yet, fighting someone who hadn't done anything to deserve it wasn't much of an option, either.

For now, he would continue to focus on blocking and deflecting the attacks, but that wouldn't work forever.

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Faust was falling back into the persona he'd had not too long ago. That of a 'mad dog'. He would not stop, not until his quarry was no more or until he could not physically move.

He slid on the wet tile, but it barely registered to him except as another obsticle to his prey.

He pressed his attacks harder.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
It seemed over-the-top for a fight to break out in the showers of all places. She would have thought the patients would keep to themselves while they washed, but apparently that wasn't the case. Considering this was a mental hospital, perhaps assuming anything to be normal hadn't made all that much sense in the first place.

However, it seemed that it was one patient in particular who was causing the problems. The other patient seemed to be doing his best to dodge and evade while the blond kept at it.

While it was a little awkward, the nurse was trained for this sort of thing. She drew up behind Jacob, ignoring the fact that the spray of the shower was getting her all wet, and then grabbed for his arms. "Stop this at once!"

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhere in there, a punch had split the stitches next to his eye, so it was bleeding sluggishly. He pressed a hand to his side, feeling it sticky with fresh blood, too.

Just another wonderful day at Landel's.

He kept his distance, but didn't relax his wary stance. Since when did fights actually end when they should?

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Even a nurse, which would have calmed him down was simply something to remove. With a mad, guttural sound, Faust tried to break free of her grip and continue his attack on Hakkai.

His knuckles and hands were bloody, though the shower was washing them clean almost as soon at they were stained.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
There was hardly any response, and the victim of this attack was already bleeding. This could easily get out of control, but the nurse knew better than to let go of Jacob now that she had a hold on him. She wasn't all that strong, but she had a tight grasp on him and a whole lot of determination.

"Jacob, please! Snap out of it, before you hurt even more people!" She was going to have to resort to calling in an orderly if he continued to try and fight her off, as she could only hold him back for so long...

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
He had a vague feeling that his leaving right now probably wouldn't solve much of anything. He was getting rather tired of this whole ordeal, though. He could only hope it wouldn't carry over outside of this one fight.

Why did his luck never run like that?

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Faust didn't like being held back. At all. Not when his enemy was right. There. Without looking, he wrenched his elbow backwards towards the woman's face.

He didn't care WHO he hurt to get to the dark haired man before him.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't something she was prepared for. Granted, she knew that patients would fight back, but it wasn't like she could dodge as easily as the brown-haired patient had been doing earlier. Though, sometimes sacrifices had to be made to keep the peace. She ended up stumbling back, clutching at her cheek where his elbow had jabbed her.

An orderly was heading over - she hadn't even had to call for him. Apparently, he'd been keeping an eye on the struggle, which made sense; fights in the shower were a bit rarer than fights in the cafeteria.

"Sedate him?" he asked her as he walked up. Even though she felt bad about putting patients through that sort of thing, it seemed necessary at this point. Jacob had to learn. She nodded to him, and he started for Faust.

[identity profile] damned-ivy.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
He would deny being surprised that the blond had attacked the nurse, but frankly, they set themselves up as so untouchable during the day that even to Hakkai it seemed almost out of the question to attack one of them and expect to get away with it.

Then again, who knew whether he was planning on getting away with it?

In either case, it left the other man unrestrained. Yet one more instance of Hakkai's stellar luck. He braced himself, mentally laughing at himself that for once he was actually cheering for the staff.

[identity profile] empty-death.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
As soon as the nurse let go, Faust lunged for Hakkai. At this point, he would have settled for tearing the man's throat out, but the still rational part of his mind knew what was coming next.

He had to get in as many shots as he could before he was taken down.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, Faust did have the time to get some hits in, if Hakkai let him, but the orderly didn't take too long to head over to the blond and seize him by the arm. His grip was much stronger compared to the nurse's - after all, orderlies were hired based on their... large stature.

It wasn't hard to just take a good hold on the patient's arm and then inject him, either. It wouldn't be long before Jacob started making such a scene, and the rest of the patients would be left to shower in peace.
