Night 67: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[From here]

It seemed as though the corridors were somehow longer, more cavernous. Lust knew it was only her fanciful imagination, but the sense persisted. The supposed she was unnerved, on edge. It wasn't something she enjoyed but she didn't know how to change it. Everything felt more since she'd come to this place. Sometimes the intensity of her feelings startled her.

But here were the main hallways, she was making good time. Another corner and it would be the true main corridor...

Link rounded the corner into the westernmost main hall, eyes keen for monsters. He passed only one other patient- a woman. Hopefully that meant that he was on the right track to the female blocks. He had seen the maps on the bulletin board, and his sense of direction was (thankfully) strong- even in the dark.

Back into the hallways. Link still didn't see anybody out and about... Perhaps it was for the better.

This truly was an impossible situation they had been dropped into. No place was safe.

Again, quiet. Again, everything looked normal. The complete absence of other patients wasn't that unusual, and she thought she could hear conversation filtering up from the main hallway. She proceeded, cautiously, one hand tucked inside her coat in a way that telegraphed that she had a weapon to anyone watching. Which, right now, was limited to any normal-sized spiders left in the hallway.

Another empty hallway; he slowed down as he reached the door to the women's block, his left leg giving a sudden twinge that briefly made it give out. The man caught himself against the wall, cursing his idiocy for leaving his crutch behind. He was breathing harder now; he hadn't run like that in a long time.

So far, so good. The man remained quiet as he followed Soma through the halls.

She knew it was still early in the evening, but the quietness of the halls seemed more oppressive tonight. Maybe it was just her imagination. She certainly hoped so.

Soma adjusted her holster and kept moving.

Getting closer.

The blood scent wasn't any stronger this close to the cells--a good sign, when Aidou was looking for signs that a spontaneous transformation had taken place. Perhaps Aigis was fine, then. Or the alternative was that she had changed and just hadn't found someone to attack yet.

Time to find out.

The sound of footsteps here was rare enough that Sasuke quickened his own pace in response, eyes more comfortable in the darkness despite their unnatural improvement. He knew that they were healing, objectively; but the mind healed more slowly than the body, and it was still almost easier to navigate the familiar hallways in partial sensory deprivation than it was with full awareness.

But it had neither been so long since he'd lost his sight nor too soon since he'd regained it for him to need to train his vision, eyes tracking any visible movement and mentally recording its importance. Dismissing most -- but as he pushed into the next hallway, a flash of pale colour gave him pause.

The door out of the F Block had already been opened. Sonia peered around the corner before stepping into the next hallway, trying to force those bad memories she had of it out of her mind. It helped that she had company tonight.

She moved swiftly across the corridor to the next corner. After a quick sweep of the main foyer with her flashlight, she turned her head to look at Flora. She couldn't help but feel like she was being rude, but this was how missions were supposed to be; carried out quietly, without too much talking. Maybe it was because she'd only just met her. She had to admit, there was a lot more she wanted to ask her.

"This isn't your first night, is it?" she spoke in a hushed voice. "How long has it been since you first woke up here?" Getting distracted in an open area like this was a mistake she wasn't about to make, so she turned again to keep an eye on the hall in front of them.

While Sonia looked ahead of them, Flora swept her own flashlight back at where they'd just came from. She felt better about it, knowing that she could have their backs while her team mate made sure the way ahead was clear.

She turned back to face the front, shaking her head and replying in the same quiet tone. "This is my third night, here." She grimaced slightly as that sunk in. She'd been here three nights, already. It felt long and short all at once. "How about you?

Good. Flora was new, but not so new that she didn't know what to expect.

"Nearly two weeks," Sonia answered quietly, and left it at that. She'd been keeping count alright, but this was the first time in a while she had been confronted with that question. Keeping it to herself didn't exactly help, but there were some things that were better left unsaid.

The way ahead looked clear. Giving a small nod, she led them both forward.

Orihime yawned, scrubbing at her eyes.

Certainly when she'd sat up in her room, the panicked adrenaline had served to sober her somewhat. After all, it was particularly rude of her to be so tardy, especially when she had no small part in insisting that she'd accompany Ishida-kun to his objectives for the night.

Some assistant she's turning out to be.

The hallways were as dark as they'd been the previous night. At least she thought herself more or less used to it; she didn't have to hug the walls tonight (even if it was with help of her flashlight), and she considered it progress when her sneakers scuffed just once against the floor. It wasn't long before she made it to the end of the hallway, hearing familiar voices--
