Night 66: Main Hallway, 1-West

[From here.]

That hadn't taken long. So much so that it looked like he was the first person to make it this far. Harvey took a moment to scan the hall with his flashlight, including near the stairs, but he didn't see (or hear) much of anything. It was the sort of thing that set him on edge.

Since he couldn't do much else, he leaned himself against the wall by the stairs and then grabbed for his gun, holding it near his side as he waited. Normally he didn't take the weapon out unless he planned to shoot it, but when there was a possibility that some transformed patient might come barreling down the halls in the next few seconds, he wanted to take precaution.

Hopefully Scott and Sangamon would haul ass over here before all hell started to break loose. If things got too hairy, Harvey was ready to make a run for it on his own. That was the logical thing to do.

[Waiting for S.T.]

She'd done a lot of thinking, today, when she hadn't been asleep. The place with the plants, or something like that -- everywhere had plants on a planet, so she'd just been guiding them outside when things had gone wrong last night. But Goku had meant someplace exceptional, and that he'd been before, and when Taura had figured it out, she'd worried the nearest three nurses by groaning out loud. The greenhouse.

Which didn't do her much good unless she could find Goku, and they hadn't had arranged anything at breakfast. Still, he found her, and right on his heels, as if the universe had wanted them to join back up, was Rita.

"We're going to have Goku show us what the leaves were in the Medical Wing last night." She hadn't, as of yet, discussed this with Goku, but they might not have much time before he turned into a monster again, and she was entirely certain he didn't have a better idea.

"Want to ride on my shoulders? You might have to duck going through the doorways." And it would give her early warning if he started to change -- his body language was easy to read, but only if she could see it. Or feel it, as the case was.

"Yeah, we're goin' to the uhmm... the window place!" Goku announced beside Rita as he waddled past her in favor of Taura. He couldn't say no to a boost up, and the woman didn't have to do anything for him. The young boy simply wrapped his tail around her arm for support to help himself up like a helper monkey. High up was fun! Plus, it made sniffing easier now that he was off the ground floor of accumulated smells, like body order and farts and everything that made a distant smell all the more difficult to track. Yeah, this high up thing was pretty nice.

"You comin', Birdy." It was hard whether or not that vacant chub of a boy meant it as a question or not.

The 'window place', where they could find a specific kind of leaf... "The greenhouse," Rita concluded. He could at least try to remember what it was called.

It wasn't too hard to connect the dots from there. Goku was sick, and they were searching for a plant seen in the Medical Wing. Taura was probably helping him get cured. "I guess I've got nothing better to do," Rita replied with a shrug. She didn't like the kid, but she didn't want him turning into a monster, either. Besides, figuring out something as important as the cure to the disease that afflicted so many patients was a productive use of time.

Rita's thoughts were mostly obvious; Taura refrained from mentioning that she hadn't specified merely because she wasn't quite sure she'd remembered what it was called, either. It wasn't exactly hydroponics when there was dirt involved, after all. Greenhouse was a pretty name, though -- the house wasn't green, but everything inside was. Much friendlier than 'ponics, at least.

She scooped Goku up, deposited him on her shoulders, where he continued to wiggle, and set off. They might not have much time, after all.
