Night 66: Main Hallway, 1-West
[From here.]
That hadn't taken long. So much so that it looked like he was the first person to make it this far. Harvey took a moment to scan the hall with his flashlight, including near the stairs, but he didn't see (or hear) much of anything. It was the sort of thing that set him on edge.
Since he couldn't do much else, he leaned himself against the wall by the stairs and then grabbed for his gun, holding it near his side as he waited. Normally he didn't take the weapon out unless he planned to shoot it, but when there was a possibility that some transformed patient might come barreling down the halls in the next few seconds, he wanted to take precaution.
Hopefully Scott and Sangamon would haul ass over here before all hell started to break loose. If things got too hairy, Harvey was ready to make a run for it on his own. That was the logical thing to do.

Rita wasn’t sure where she was going to go now that her plans had been derailed. Sure, she could probably go ahead without Skulduggery, but given how dangerous the last two nights had been, it wouldn’t be wise to go alone. Even a loner like Rita could admit how much it helped to have someone watching her back.
She walked westward, back towards the patient halls, though she had no intention of going all the way back. The time they had at night was precious, and Rita wasn’t about to let it go to waste. But what was there for her to do…?
A familiar voice caught her attention, which drew her gaze to a pair of familiar faces. She was about to walk past them… but then decided she could stop and see if there was anything of interest she could do. The brat was, well, a brat, but at least Taura was halfway reliable. “Oh, it’s you two,” she said as she drew a little closer. The rash on Goku’s arm came into view, which received a momentary glance but little reaction.
“What are you up to?” She looked at Taura as she asked the question, expecting that she would give the more intelligible answer.

Which didn't do her much good unless she could find Goku, and they hadn't had arranged anything at breakfast. Still, he found her, and right on his heels, as if the universe had wanted them to join back up, was Rita.
"We're going to have Goku show us what the leaves were in the Medical Wing last night." She hadn't, as of yet, discussed this with Goku, but they might not have much time before he turned into a monster again, and she was entirely certain he didn't have a better idea.
"Want to ride on my shoulders? You might have to duck going through the doorways." And it would give her early warning if he started to change -- his body language was easy to read, but only if she could see it. Or feel it, as the case was.

"You comin', Birdy." It was hard whether or not that vacant chub of a boy meant it as a question or not.

It wasn't too hard to connect the dots from there. Goku was sick, and they were searching for a plant seen in the Medical Wing. Taura was probably helping him get cured. "I guess I've got nothing better to do," Rita replied with a shrug. She didn't like the kid, but she didn't want him turning into a monster, either. Besides, figuring out something as important as the cure to the disease that afflicted so many patients was a productive use of time.

She scooped Goku up, deposited him on her shoulders, where he continued to wiggle, and set off. They might not have much time, after all.
