NIGHT 65: M-A BLOCK HALLWAY
[From here]
Link rounded the corner without slowing down to even look over his shoulder. He wanted to get to the medical wing first and get out of there before there was any potential chaos. It was a good thing Sora had shown him the way last night.
The Hylian rounded the corner into the larger hallways.

"A clue was left in the X-Ray Room last night, and a new one this night. All implications point to the idea that there is some kind of parasite... or insect... inside each sick prisoner's stomach. People have been contemplating performing surgery to get it out." Link paused.
"I was on my way back to help my friend with that when he ran past me, already... something else." Something frightful. The hunched over, black as night form that barely resembled Sora reminded the Hylian of the Twili beasts. Sora's name was intentionally left out for now. This man's wording didn't sit well with him- taken measures against it, rather than specifying actually helping.
Sechs had mentioned that there were patients willing to kill over this. Link would take every precaution.

"You mean to say no one had bothered to think of a way to at least somehow restrain the infected patients?" Scar responded, raising an eyebrow, "You know, to prevent them from attacking others which they will doubtlessly do once turned?"
Because, certainly, extra monsters roaming the place was just the thing they needed. Not that the former lion was particularly concerned about the well-being of others, but his own happened to be rather high on his list. He couldn't care any less whether the infected patients lived or died in the end, but suggesting that they would be restrained seemed the more diplomatic option of the two. At least, it would have prevented similar threats wandering the already dangerous hallways while some other fools persisted in chasing down some dubious cure.
It would seem Landel still enjoyed stuffing the place with the appropriate amount of idiots. It would have been almost adorable had the situation not been so dire...
"I can't help but think how ugly this will all turn out to be," he added with a sigh, the tone of his voice concerned.

"They're turning into monsters. More powerful than whatever weak bonds we could forge in time. The madman was... cryptic in his messages. We did not know of what would happen this night specifically before it was too late." There was no sign of his slight irritation in his tone.
Link eased, though, with the older man's next comment.
"I know. It's already becoming a mess. We don't even know if those infected will be able to return to themselves..."

One would think there would have been enough time for the proper preparations, but apparently people were too busy chasing down that dubious cure. He supposed he had given those hairless monkeys a little too much credit -- he'd really ought to stop doing that. In any case, it was too late for any of that.
"But I suppose it can no longer be helped," he said before dropping the subject and moved on to the boy's next comment. "Unfortunately, I doubt the dear head doctor would volunteer such information. He would be too busy enjoying himself with our inevitable misery, I'm sure."
To say that Scar was displeased with having landed in such a mess would be quite an understatement. He should have expected no less from the sadistic fool, however. In the mean time, Scar tried not to think about where he possibly could have been for some unspecified length of time.
Nonetheless, he still needed that weapon, and though their little chat was interesting enough, the remainder was perhaps best saved for daytime. "So, what did you intend to do now?"

Then again, had Link not woken up only last night? Well, then, Sora was simply better at explaining than he was, clearly.
"I had initially intended on spending the night simply patrolling the hallways- Making sure no one is killed." He paused. "You're welcome to come, though the idea of a fight may not be the best without a weapon."

And, perhaps, the boy would prove to be even more useful if he managed to stay on his relative good side.
"Going anywhere without a means to defend yourself is a rather bad idea in this place, I'm afraid. I was hoping to remedy just that tonight," Scar said, "There should be available options on the second floor if I'm not mistaken. However, it's rather dangerous to go alone -- even more so now..."
He trailed off at that, hoping the boy would make a certain offer. Making sure no one would be killed, was it? Was he not but a defenseless person that required such protection as well?

"Then I will come with you. Once you're armed, we can discuss what to do from there." He wasn't about to let somebody go off on their own unarmed. The man didn't even have a flashlight he could use to beat down monsters, with.
Taking a look around the second floor sounded like a good idea, anyway. Link hadn't seen much of the building, yet.
"I would prefer we moved quickly, though."

It would seem his new-found meat shield was not as dimwitted as some others, which was a relief in a sense. "Of course," he agreed. Who knew how much time they had left after their little chat, after all?
"Let us be on our way, then."
