Nightshift 62: Main Hallway, 1-West
[from here]
Taura took up station midway between the two halls leading back into the dormitories. Alone with her thoughts; the hall was quiet. Too quiet. Dead quiet, a little voice hissed in the back of her mind.
This was no time to be getting superstitious. It was unavoidable, really, in a profession with so much risk involved in daily operations, that those who survived found things to credit. Beyond their own skill, because they'd all seen better men/women/herms when their luck ran out, and skill only improved your odds.
Her luck was holding, tonight. Was Rita and Goku's?

It took no time at all to find his way into the right hallway, and Badou held up a hand in greeting as he came to a halt near the trio of women. He dragged his thoughts away from Alle and Landel, focusing on the task at hand which, right at the moment, wasn't exactly a great hardship.
"Hey. I guess the gang's all here, huh?"

"Badou. Leanne. Tear," she said by way of introductions, a hand moving to gesture to each when she spoke their name. "In theory we should be a balanced group to move in. You two have your firearms," she said to Badou and Leanne. "Tear is combat trained and can heal, and I have speed and battle experience. I'd like to get to one of the inner doors of the basement, but first we need to gain another one of these items."
Her hand slid into one of the black jacket's pockets and retrieved the decorative sword. "...We need the matching shield. And I know where we can go to get it." She paused, then looked at them again. "Is that acceptable?"

She nodded at both in greeting before offering her assent to the question. "I'm fine with this plan."

Four of them then, that was a good number. It was definitely more people than she'd ever had during a job. She couldn't say she knew how each of them would fare in a fight, but their prospects did seem good.
"Yeah, sounds good."

He gave the sword a curious glance, but didn't question it. "I'm guessing the Institute Novelty Shop too much to hope for. Ready whenever you are."

Once all had reaching to touch a part of her, Renamon slid the ring out of the other breast pocket, the red gem shining for a moment. "...Brace yourselves," she added, with a moment of kindness instead of ill-humor. Thrusting her hand against the wall she had been leaning again, the gem broke, and the world fell out from under them.
