Night 61: F11-20 Hallway
A 'special little treat'? Did the Head Doctor mean the lollipop? Getting a reward from him just made Anise feel like she ought to be less well-behaved. Being on his good side just felt gross.
And what was more, the following announcement went on to mention a meeting between the Head Doctor and some patients. Anise could only assume she wasn't among the invited, which was a bit disappointing. She wanted a second chance to try and teach the Head Doctor a lesson. For now, all she could do was hope that whoever did go would do it in her place. Sure, he probably expected it and had safeguards in place, but it wasn't like he was invincible, right? ... Probably.
In the meantime, Anise had to hurry and get ready for the night. She hastily swapped her patient uniform for her Fon Master Guardian one, double-checked that Tokunaga carried what little emergency supplies she wanted to bring, and grabbed her flashlight and weapon. And most important of all: the bone bracelet that would take her to her destination. She wouldn't get very far without that!
With everything ready, Anise was quick to head out into the hallway. The last few nights hadn't been that productive, so she wanted to get a good head start this time.

Shoes on, katana and radio strapped to side, gun shoved in waistband. Her flashlight was dim; she swapped the batteries out for new ones. Then she shouldered the double-ended spear and, with a parting nod at Leanne, stepped out into the hallway.

Some moments after Soma left the room, she was out the door herself, just barely able to make out the light from her roommate's flashlight in the distance.
Show time.

So far there had been visions and shadows and all sorts of intangible reminders of her Masamune, but never something this real. Somewhere out there there was a man, alive and well, who resembled her brother in almost every way… Trying to process the idea let wide a yawning pit in her heart, a blackhole that threatened to suck up all of her confidence and replace it with sharp-edged anxiety.
No… no. She couldn’t think about it. Not when it was so close to nightshift.
It was safer and better to focus on present matters. And if there was one thing that could distract her from her family matters, it was her friend. Rapunzel was still asleep by the time dinner came to a close, which worried her a little after the conversation she’d had with Rei. Each of her roommates had done something similar at least once in their time together, though, so it wasn’t completely out of the ordinary. It was okay to leave her in the room… right? What was the likelihood that Rapunzel would need Tsubaki to watch over her?
There was so much to do that the practical thing was to head out alone--time was of the essence, after all. The Head Doctor’s nightly intercom announcement only cemented that fact with his veiled comments about what was going on around the hospital.
Missions. That was Tsubaki’s first thought when he mentioned a program that would make use of people. But when he confessed that there was going to be a “special appointment,” she felt a flash of dismay. Oh no! He was meeting with prisoners? What for this time?
Having already prepped her supplies, Tsubaki was ready when the doors unlocked. But where to even start?

That done, she started out.

Hopefully, there would be no reason to come up lacking.
She gave one last assessment of the tools in her hands and with a steeled exterior, made her way out into the hallways.
