Nightshift 60: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

Taura pondered the announcement she'd just heard as she jogged down another empty hallway. Who was she? Jill? Who he'd tortured himself, though that could have been an act on her part as well? Whose side had she been on? And what could have happened to her that would be permanent?

Death was usually pretty permanent, but even that had its exceptions around here. Taura didn't have to like it to know it was true; what had General Aguilar done that could change that? And why was Doctor Landel so angry?

It was an uneasy thought to stomach; revenge drove people like nothing else did, and being one of the people in between was a hell of a way to go.

Sync had often met her in this hallway, and it seemed to be an ideal place to wait ... if he wasn't trying to avoid her. If he was trying to avoid her, which was a situation that was becoming far more likely, then he wouldn't be going down this route at all. He might have even done a U-Turn up around the recreational field, or otherwise just went that way. Or he could have even just used the ring, if he planned to go to the basement alone.

But Erika doubted that. Sync wouldn't go in the basement alone, he would likely go with someone else. Although her chances of catching him were slim, if there was one place where she was most likely to find him, it'd be in the main hallway where they usually met. Sync might have been expecting her to haunt that place, so perhaps a little further up.

Really, Erika should have been disgusted with herself at how desperate she was to find this stupid bastard, all because she needed him to advance in the basement. And as she got closer and closer to the main hallway, the more she started to realize how pathetic she actually was acting.
