Nightshift 24: F1-F10 Hallway
(starting at the end of the hall in F10)
At the strange cryptic message that came over the intercom and the quiet click of the locks coming undone, Max exchanged a glance with her roommate and slipped towards the door. She didn't bother with trying to find a makeshift weapon, she could handle herself well enough without one, but she'd tucked the small radio and the flashlight she'd found in the makeshift belt she'd made from a ripped pair of the ugly pants as they'd waited for nightfall.
Easing the door open, she peered out into the hallway beyond. It was dark and quiet, but her enhanced vision quickly adjusted as she scanned the corridor. All was silent and empty for the moment and she slipped out into the darkness, her stance stealthy and alert as she paused in the center of the hall, peering down the long corridor filled with doors leading to other patient rooms (she assumed). The joining corridor off to her right was the one she'd been led down earlier, she remembered, and that was the one they'd need to follow this time, to get out of the dormitory area.
She wondered if others would be slipping out soon as well, and hoped that the building itself did not change after dark. Then again, mutating buildings had to be a bit more difficult than mutating humanoids, if the rumors about the monsters lurking at night were really true...

It was just so archaic. All of it.
She followed Max out into the hall; Susan was comfortable either leading or guarding someone's back. And since both of them were new here, it probably didn't matter who went first. Though at least Max had been out of the room before.
Besides, she though, How much does it matter when this is probably just all in my head anyway?

She glanced down the long hall of doors once more, hesitating. "And would you prefer we head out on our own or see if there are others in these rooms?"
no subject
She frowned. "Do you know anyone else here?" she asked. "It sounds like we can probably handle ourselves..." Though there was the idea that maybe some others that had been in her fleet were here.

Propping hands on hips, she glanced back at Susan again. "I met a few guys today. A few seemed like they might be helpful, but I've no idea where there rooms are, and even if I did, I'm not sure I could find out how to get there. I pretty much only saw the way from here to the activity rooms and cafeteria they stuck us in all day."
She paused, thinking that over for a moment. "There was a way outside from the cafeteria, but I don't know where you'd go once you get there, I'm sure they've got to have some kind of border security, and I have no idea what the defenses of this place are. I was planning on sticking around until I could find some more information on this place, but if you want to blaze, that would be the way to do it. There might be weapons you could pick up in the kitchens, too, if you were needing one..."

"We'll meet Artemis at room M47," She told Raven, while looking at the map she had sketched out. It didn't seem far. Yet she remained nervous, comforted only by the face that she wasn't alone and the Head Doctor didn't have anything to say to add to her nerves.

She stepped outside, closing the door quietly behind herself and started along it towards the main corridor. Her ears perked up as she overheard someone mentioning 'Artermis' and the room that she'd been directed to over the bulletin. There had been a girl, hadn't there? Namine?
She approached the two girls casually, trying to make herself as non-threatening as she could. "Ne, would one of you be Namine by any chance? I'm Matsumoto Rangiku."

Whether she liked it or not, roaming the halls at night, alone, wasn't very recommendable. She didn’t know if Naminé could defend herself, but at least she was smart enough to know when to run away.
Then, after leaving the room, they were joined by another wo-
Good god. How could she walk around and not fall over herself?
"She is." Raven said, pointing to her roommate

"Yes, I'm Naminé," She confirmed. "Are you the Vice Captain Artemis and I were supposed to meet?"

Tonight she intended to get something done.

After listening to the radio broadcast (just what had happened to him, to make him so angry?), Elena brushed past some of the other patients who were crowding around the hallway and began to make the same trek to M17 that she had made the last couple of nights. Nothing would go wrong. She was certain of it.
...At least until the girl--who had been so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice the woman standing a few feet away--collided with someone.
"Ack!"

She knew who this woman was, at least by sight. Her dark hair and rather...impressive endowments were obvious, even in the dim light, and she knew her to be one of the older patients (that is...one of those who had been there the longest). The girl backed away a little more, noticing with more than a little guilt that the woman was holding herself stiffly, which meant that she'd been injured.
And I just ran right into her. Brilliant.

Using a tightly rolled bed sheet as a makeshift belt again, Rukia tucked the bar into it. Wishing Kairi good luck, Rukia switched on the flashlight and slipped quietly into the hallway.
Rukia caught sight of Rangiku, but the Vice Captain was already taking with a couple girls. Rukia gave her a nod just the same, and hurried off, feet nearly silent on the hard floor.

They were much better at it that she'd ever been. Still, she padded in the sturdier outdoor slippers.
Alfons was waiting. Miku would not keep her friend waiting!

"You know what happens at night, right?" She asked Utena. Although she liked the idea of being more knowledgeable, explaining this sort of thing to someone was a waste of time. They had to get out there now!
She grabbed the flashlight she had stashed in the desk, and clicked it on to check the battery. Making preparations like this definitely made her feel important, like she knew what she was doing. Which she did, of course!
"Oh, there's someone I was gonna meet," she said as she opened the door and looked out, "You can come along too! I think her room is somewhere around here..." The last part came out as a mumble as Haruhi scanned the corridor. She could see some shapes, but not much was discernable. Crap. Maybe she should have thought this through more.
no subject
She did her best to look over Haruhi's shoulder, out into the hall; it only took a moment to realize she couldn't really see anything. Well... that was what the flashlights were for, she supposed. On the other hand, the light might draw those... monsters. Wherever they were, whatever they were... "I'd like that. Going out alone sounds like a bad idea..."
no subject
Well, she would just have to go out and see. She stepped out into the hall and flicked on the flashlight. She scanned the corridor, before fixating on one group. Hmm. Just as in the lunchroom, Haruhi had a pretty good idea of who it was.
Time to go take a look. She motioned for Utena to follow.

She knew she wasn't supposed to move ... but ... she was already getting antsy. Sighing quietly, she made her way out into the hallway when she heard some chatter.

Renji came up on Kairi as she entered the hallway. "Hey," he said. "No one's stayin' put these days, are they." He sounded vaguely annoyed, but there was now a definite note of amusement.
He could hear the voices up ahead; he could tell Rangiku was there, and he was pretty sure he heard Namine's voice as well. So far, there were no monsters; and if an attack occured in the hall, he and Rangiku were both here. They could protect everyone if necessary.
"Hey, Rangiku," he called, only as loudly as absolutely necessary. "I found your stray, so you can get movin'."

Rena returned the newcomer's nod with a polite one of her own. "My name is Ryuuguu Rena," she answered, addressing the now small party that had gathered in the halls. "I...can probably say the same thing."

With those thoughts, she closed the door behind her and made her way down the hall. It was already occupied by several patients; all of them seemed busy. So much for another person...

Fox remained with his back against the wall, keeping his attention focused on the darkness around him.
The Boss wanted an explanation, so he'd give her one. As soon as he was certain there was no immediate danger.
no subject
The Boss followed behind him, silently, looking to the left and right for anything Fox might be missing. It was potentially unwise to stand around in Hell's hallways for the sake of privacy, regardless of how concealed they could be, but there was little point to arguing.
She couldn't detect anything coming, so she waited for his answers.

"The other day, he visited me here. He had both eyes back, and it was him, not some impostor... but he didn't remember. They took his memories, they made him forget everything..." Now he did look at her, a pained expression on his face. "They made him forget who he was. He doesn't remember... he doesn't even know his name anymore. He lost sight of himself completely. That's what they do to people here, make them forget who they are. The head doctor said that he almost made it out."
Really, Fox was more afraid of that, than he was of dying. He would rather die in these halls, fall victim to some monster, than be made to forget. As horrible as his past was, he didn't want to let go of it. "So he is fine. He's living out there, a normal life..." But Fox would have preferred that he stayed dead.
He looked away once more to keep his eyes focused on the hallway. "He's fine, he's just not Jack anymore."
