Day 24: Intercom, Dinner

The intercom jingle rang out both inside and outside the institute on speakers loud enough to broadcast clearly across the recreational field.

"It's been a busy day, hasn't it? Well, fortunately for all of us, it's nearly over, and we can all look forward to some rejuvenating shut-eye--that is, after dinner, of course."

The Head Doctor chuckled.

"Supper for tonight is going to consist of individual servings of chicken pot pie, with mashed potatoes and peas as sides. You may ask your nurse about the usual selection of drinks, and... Oh! Some of you might find that you have some new guests in your rooms belonging to... Group 5, I believe...? Please see to it that our new patients spend their first night at Landel's Institute as peacefully as possible!"

He paused, then added:

"Oh, and Nurse Hondor? Could you please report to my office? Thank you."

The intercom clicked off.

[ OOC: Remember how dinner shift works--everyone posts to this post with individual threads for each room. New characters waking up during this shift will do so in their respective threads, though if your roommate's player is unable to play with you during your intro, feel free to work something out so that your roommate is taking a nap or something. XD; ]

"Aww, you're so darn individual." Ashton couldn't help but joke, nudging his friend with his shoulder. It was nice after the day he'd had to be around someone like this, someone he could feel utterly comfortable around. He'd felt this way for a moment earlier, during his nap with Dias, but that had been such a rare occurrence around that man that he almost couldn't count it.

Regarding peas: Ashton didn't like the way peas popped in his mouth, personally. He found the sound similar to how he imagined eyeballs might pop if he were to dine on them. The taste wasn't his favorite, but it wasn't strong enough to elicit a reaction one way or another. It was almost a purely texture-based dislike. What wasn't a dislike of the texture was that he'd seen such on his plate for the past three evenings!

As to tastes, there were many other things he hated... Celine's adventures in the world of desserts had left him wary. Pepper was never meant to be added to cake.

"Words came out and I wasn't ready for them. Remember last night's psychic girl? Turns out there are more." He smiled grimly, pulling his pot pie over and beginning to eat.

"Is that so?" Axel commented after listening to Ashton's words, scooping up all the peas with his fork and shoving them in his mouth before they could roll off. The thought of having other psychics around the Institute wasn't one quite worrisome compared to other things.

"People don't need to be a psychic to read your mind," He started in a teasing tone, nudging Ashton in the same manner. But the touch caused his chest to flutter slightly, making him smile despite was being discussed.

"Psychics have the ability to read minds only because they aren't man enough to talk it out of a person. Just don't... let it get to you too much, okay?"
