Night 70: West Wing, South Hall 1-A
[From here.]
It was quiet -- so quiet that Castiel slowed his pace slightly, keeping a careful eye on the dark hallway that stretched out in front of him. With the help of his flashlight he was able to spot the stairs that would have taken him up to the second floor, if that was where he wanted to go. Instead, access to the third floor was supposedly found here on the ground level. That was the exact sort of confusion that he would expect from the Head Doctor, however.
As empty as the area was, there didn't seem to be any sign of monsters or ghosts, either. He was alone, and while that might have been frightening to a human, Castiel saw it as liberating. He squared his shoulders and kept moving toward the meeting place he and Kratos had decided on.

"Um, by the way," Claude added as he fished through his pocket, "I brought that thing I meant to give to you before. It's not much, but--"
Finally, he extended his gloved hand out to Guy. Resting in his palm was the flash drive he'd been holding onto, attached to the chain that originally came with the military's dog tags -- essentially a necklace, although not in the traditional sense.
"It's a device used to hold data," he casually added. "Supposedly, it's storing a bunch of stuff I've written, but considering how this place operates, who knows if that's true. Since it was just collecting dust in my room, though, I thought it might be better off with you since you're interested in this kind of stuff."
Well...the story was actually more complicated than that. But with how often Claude had been sleeping lately, he had to at least face the possibility that his days in Landel's were numbered. And if that did end up being the case, he wanted to believe that Thomas Appleby would want to visit long enough to reclaim his flash drive from a good friend. Fortunately, there wasn't any reason to say all of that out loud. He didn't want to ruin the present, after all.

When Claude suddenly brought up that gift he'd mentioned the other night, Guy blinked, glancing over at his friend. He'd completely forgotten about it because so much else had been going on, between Lloyd's disappearance and their trips down to the caverns.
Carefully, he reached out to take the not-quite-necklace from Claude, listening carefully as he explained what it was. "To hold data?" He glanced down at it. It was so small. He couldn't imagine that enough writing to make up a book would actually be held on something like this, but he also trusted Claude. "How does it work?"
Either way, he was touched by the gesture and broke out into a warm smile. "Thank you, Claude. I look forward to when I get to read all of it for myself. And in the meantime, I'll take care of it." He slipped the flash drive into his pocket, figuring that it would be safer there than worn around his neck.
At that point they reached the door into Luke's block, and Guy led them through.
