Night 53: M-C Block Hallway

[from here]

Very few people out here. Maybe he should slow down, wait for some more patients to come crawling out of their rooms; otherwise, he'd just be hanging around, and then randomly approaching someone: wouldn't that look suspicious? The whole point was to make the act random.

Or perhaps he was just over-thinking. The larger, more popular halls would probably prove more fruitful.

Going through the halls without seeing much of anything else was just what Sync needed. He moved without a word, knowing that there wasn't anything worth bothering with in this area, and moved to the next with no complications.

Having that taken care of was a load off his shoulders, and having a shikomizue to stroll with was just icing on the cake. It remained as a cane for the time being, tapping the tiles as Brook went along, humming as always. He had no clue what he would be doing for the evening, but there was always something to be done! Perhaps he would meet up with someone who needed a partner for the night. Not everyone was as outgoing on the bulletin as those who posted. Not to mention there were always those who had only just gotten there. These people seemed to come in waves, but still, no one should be stuck alone simply because they were new!

As he entered the block hallway, Minato came to the conclusion that he was overthinking his meeting with Aigis. It wasn't surprising; Yukari's news, even though he hadn't asked for details, was enough to leave anyone ... dazed.

It was a strange feeling, musing over the idea of being a dead man walking--and that right there had been the problem plaguing him since morning. He needed to cope with the knowledge, instead of shrugging it off or telling himself he didn't care.

Really, he should have been used to these things by now. His life hadn't been particularly normal since the incident on Moonlight Bridge when he was a kid, with the culmination of events in the past year emphasizing the height of abnormality in his life. Learning about his future death was just the icing on the cake.

...There. He clicked on his flashlight as he reached the exit of the block hallway, feeling a little better about the situation. There was that fairly unfazed mindset he had been searching for.

As she entered the men's block, the faint sound of music began to emanate from Rita's backpack. Realizing it may be one of the radio broadcasts she'd heard of, the mage slipped the bag off her back and pulled the device out of it.

Rita gazed at the radio with narrowed eyes as she listened to the man's broadcast. He seemed to claim to be an ally, and that he was also looking to learn the Eagle's identity. It also sounded like this unseen ally of theirs was going out to meet patients outside of the institute. Rita would keep that in mind, though she didn't plan to go out there this night. Magic studies came first; she wasn't going to go out of her way for a stranger who could very well be an enemy.

When the broadcast seemed to be over, she stuffed the radio back in her bag, put that on her back, and then continued to the hall that she believed would contain Room M88.

As Jr. slipped around the corner and into the hallway, something caught his attention. The link, normally half ignored except when he needed to guard his thoughts but now subject to more attention out of worry for the one brother he could easily feel through it, told him that Nigredo was no longer where he'd been a second ago. His heart skipped a beat when he felt his brother vanish, but he relaxed again when he found him again...somewhere else entirely.

Now tense at another example of the sheer strangeness that happened here at night, Jr. continued on his way and into the next hallway.
