Day 53: Sun Room

When the intercom came on to announce the shift change, the feeling of dread returned. Anise had calmed down considerably since the morning, and she felt more ready to discuss the previous night with Ilia... but not as ready as she wanted to be.

Since the Music Room was bound to be noisy and crowded, Anise opted for the Sun Room instead, hoping that Ilia would come to the same conclusion. She took a seat on one side of a couch in the middle of the room, and waited there. If Ilia didn't show up after a while, she'd go try the Music Room.

Even though this talk had been on her mind all day, Anise still didn't know what she would say. And if she explained the truth behind her shadow's words last night... what would Ilia think? On the one hand, Ilia had shown herself to be a compassionate person, and it was hard to picture her treating Anise differently. But on the other hand, Anise hadn't known Ilia that long... and Ilia was a soldier. She would understand the gravity of Anise's actions, and the sorts of consequences that usually waited for people like her.

With these worries weighing on her mind, Anise leaned against the arm of the couch as she waited.

[For Ilia.]

[No no, no apologies necessary, I hear ya...8|;;]

This guy--with the constant talking and too-cheerful-sounding tone and touchy-feely-ness--this guy almost reminded him of--

The Exorcist's mind jerked back away from that line of thought, from the memory of that person. As much as he pushed it aside and ignored it, it--he--was something (someone) Kanda had never really gotten over, and after everything his shadow had said last night... It was like having a scab peeled off when a cut was still new enough to bleed a little; maybe not as much as it had before, and maybe the injury was a little smaller, but it hadn't healed yet either.

...And of course, as usual, the emotion Kanda showed in response to everything he wouldn't admit he felt over those memories was anger.

"Shut the hell up! As if I'd cry over something like this! And why would I come to you anyway--I don't even know who the hell you are!"

The blonde had introduced himself, sure, but knowing a name wasn't the same as knowing a person...though in this case, just knowing this guy's name was proving to be enough of an annoyance.

Finally, something of a reaction. It was no good to keep that all bottled up inside, at any rate, so whether it was directed at him or the institution, either was fine. Besides, it was kind of amusing too.

"Don't be silly Kanda, how would I know if you like to cry a lot or not, we just met!" he shrugged innocently. "But I'm sure once we become good friends, we'll get to know each other better! Remember, I'm Fai. I just told you that one! Maybe you should repeat it a few times if you're having trouble with it."

It was followed with a smile and a tone of friendly reproach. Nothing to show that Kanda's angry words had the slightest effect on him. Perhaps it was selfish, teasing someone just to pass the time, but when they were as wound up as Kanda was, how could he resist?
