Day 51: Arts and Crafts [Second Shift]
They actually listened to some of the suggestions people put in that box? Anise thought the Head Doctor had to be joking when he said that, but she soon heard him mention something that she herself had suggested: sewing supplies. They were really going to get some? Anise could finally get a real needle, so she could make repairs to Tokunaga whenever she needed to. She swiped one of their blunt, plastic needles before, but using that just left big holes in the fabric. Using it on Tokunaga made her feel bad, like she was hurting the poor doll.
"Isn't that nice, Dolores?" The nurse must have caught Anise's hopeful look. "But remember, you'll need to be on your best behavior until then."
"I know, I..." Anise began with her usual dismissive reply, but quickly remembered that the intercom had said 'behavior and attitudes', and instantly changed her tune. "I'll do my very best! Hee hee!" She forced a smile for the old hag.
Unfortunately, the sewing supplies weren't here today, so Anise had to find something else to do for now. Stepping inside the Arts and Crafts room, she quickly found that several tables already had paper craft ('origami,' they called it?) supplies laid out for them, so she guessed she'd just occupy herself with that. The girl sat down at one of the tables, opened up one of the books, and started looking through it.
Cranes, frogs, horses, turtles... There were lots of familiar animals, and a few unfamiliar ones, too. The rabbits looked kind of cute.
[For Ilia!]

"Sakura-chan~! Morning! So why did you pick this room? All that's in here is origami and stupid stuff."
no subject
"It was this or the Sun Room. At least they have supplies in here and there's not so many people," she explained, giving the nearest nurse a rather pointed look before glancing back at the table.
"Let's get right into it," she added, setting her notebook on the table as well as if to emphasize her point. "It doesn't look like the direct approach is gonna work so well here. Escape is right out, I don't think any of this will stop unless we stop whoever is pulling the strings. I have some maps so we should really decide where the people in charge are likely to be hiding out, right? What do you think?"
no subject
He shrugged that off - he was used to not seeing things the way she did - and continued.
"You really don't think we can run away? What if we can get back to the town, I mean..."
He trailed off. No, that didn't seem likely, did it? The people in the town all acted kind of funny, too. Were they all part of this crazy thing? If the doctors or whatever they were thought everyone was sick, why take them to the town? That didn't seem safe. When the med-nins thought he was hurt or something, they didn't let him go anywhere! They'd get all pissed off if he ran off on his own, into town or anywhere else. So maybe that was kind of strange. He just...hadn't thought about it til now.
"Well, there was that guy last night that someone said was brainwashed, right? They had to have taken him somewhere to brainwash him! So wherever that is is a good place to start, right?"
no subject
"Look, it's- nevermind. if you see anything useful, just be sure to pocket it, ok? We're pretty short on weapons here. Even if they kind of suck. We can always sharpen them or something, right?" she shook her head. They were seriously going to get off topic if she let it slide too far. Right. Back to the important stuff.
"Yeah, most likely. There's a place upstairs where they do the experiments on people at night. That seems the most likely place for the brainwashing stuff, but the setup of those rooms wasn't anything special," she mused aloud, tapping a finger to her chin a few times.
"If it's not there, the next place I'd guess would be up or down. Since the maps I've got say that the basement is pretty much a maze and sets upon sets of challenges and no one knows a damn thing about anything above the second floor, I'd wager there's something important up there." Not one of her best theories, but at least it was something.

He tapped a finger on his chin, considering.
"So...we should go up to the third floor, somehow? And we can't just run up the building because we won't have enough chakra. Damnit! Isn't there any way to get it back?"
no subject
But ways to actually get back their chakra? She knew there were some different substances, medicines, and the like that could increase that back home, and she'd seen hints that it was possible here, but she couldn't say exactly how. It might be worth looking into though.
"There has to be some way to get up there though. Like, it could be like the basement, there's a way down there, but it's secret. Or we could just try busting doors til one of them works. I don't think my punches are quite strong enough here to break through the ceiling or I'd just do that."
no subject
He scrunched up his face, thinking about who would be the best bet.
"Oh! What about Gaara? I saw him this morning! He's pretty strong! Maybe we could ask him to help out!"
