Night 50: Main Hallway, 1-West
[from here]
It looked like the hallway opened up over here. Guess he couldn't expect to just run around and follow a linear corridor forever, but now he had to figure out which way he wanted to go. Normally, he'd just run down whatever hallway he happened to lay eye on first, but again, he was running a liiittle blind here.
He still wasn't seeing any people anywhere. Maybe everyone was hiding. If everyone knew the staff turned into monsters and tried to eat them, then it'd make sense that they'd try to keep low. Thankfully, he'd be taking care of whatever was wandering around this place, so they wouldn't have to stay hiding for long. Once that was done, they could blast their way out of there and he could find his way back to the others. Couldn't keep everyone waiting on account of him, right?
[running across Rita, The Trickster, and hopefully, a freaking flashlight]

"...not that there's any sense in any of this," Evangeline finished derisively as she emerged into the main hall. At least Junpei had managed to be mere recipient instead of target for her little lecture this time.
no subject
Junpei listened to Evangeline's explanation, really glad she was using Japanese cause that he probably wouldn't have been able to follow. "So... it's just magic? Huh. Simple explanation." He could have guessed that much himself. "Maybe whatever magic they use is just making us use our own minds to synch up the lips since we kinda naturally know and reject those really bad dubs."
no subject
Another shrug. "It's possible. Cognizance disruption doesn't work well on someone who's focusing, though. They'll be actively manipulating perception, if it's not outright reality distortion."
no subject
"But, as a broad catch-all explanation, it is pretty simple. People used to call all sorts of things magic before they understood the whole science behind it. Hell, this all could be the work of some kind of really damn advanced technology that we can't remotely understand... which still makes it magic."
no subject
But no, she hadn't missed the new information he'd let slip. "Is that how you ended up with yours, hm?"
She leered at him, hoping the topic would set him off-balance.
no subject
His eyes flickered over with her question. "No. I'm all natural. I just... know someone who had it... yeah." He was a bit uncomfortable, but not like Evangeline was expecting. He seemed... sad almost.
no subject
Besides, he was showing a more interesting vulnerability than simple fear. "That girl, right? What was her name?"
Whether Eva had genuinely forgotten or was trying to make him drag up memories by association for some purpose or another was anyone's guess.
no subject
Junpei said her name softly, fondly, sadly as he did every time he spoke of his dead girlfriend. He'd managed to not deal with her loss and the loss of everyone else when Landel had sent them away. The others he knew were probably back home - hopefully back home - but Chidori... She was dead.
He rubbed his chest idly, almost wishing there was a scar even if he could still feel her inside him. He then decided to change the subject.
"Why do you think that douchebag decided to make the translator thing not work? Other than to irritate us?"
no subject
She sighed.
"How would i know? I'm evil, not insane. He's showing his hand much too early. If I was him I'd save changing the established rules of the game for a time when we're a real threat to him. As it is people will know to plan for this in the future."
Maybe. Some of the patients here were pretty stupid.
no subject
He then shrugged. "And I, uh, just thought maybe there was some kind of diabolical reasoning that only the really evil understood." As Junpei, clearly, wasn't evil and would not understand.
no subject
Speaking of which... she looked back at the sword she'd almost nicked him with earlier. "Do you know how to use that thing?"
no subject
He then gave Evangeline a bit of a glare. "Duh. Of course, I can."
