Night 50: Main Hallway, 1-West
[from here]
It looked like the hallway opened up over here. Guess he couldn't expect to just run around and follow a linear corridor forever, but now he had to figure out which way he wanted to go. Normally, he'd just run down whatever hallway he happened to lay eye on first, but again, he was running a liiittle blind here.
He still wasn't seeing any people anywhere. Maybe everyone was hiding. If everyone knew the staff turned into monsters and tried to eat them, then it'd make sense that they'd try to keep low. Thankfully, he'd be taking care of whatever was wandering around this place, so they wouldn't have to stay hiding for long. Once that was done, they could blast their way out of there and he could find his way back to the others. Couldn't keep everyone waiting on account of him, right?
[running across Rita, The Trickster, and hopefully, a freaking flashlight]

Logic would move the Digimon to the mall hall. If Beelzemon didn't plan to go outside through the field, this was the only place he could go. She would wait and see if the other Digimon came by. After the night before, she had a few things she wanted to talk about with him.
As calm as Renamon was, standing off to the side in the hall, she must have looked very strange--dressed in the black jacket from Doyletown with bandages over her right eye and hands, with a bladed knuckle resting over her left hand.
[For Beelzemon!]

Beelzemon got all the way out to the bigger hallways before stopping to actually think about what he might actually be doing tonight. Sure, the wooden bat that he had made him feel better than normal, but he had no clue where the thing had come from in the first place, why Heat had been acting weird (well, weirder, his roomie really seemed to have a couple screws loose), or what the guy in charge had been gloating about over the speakers. Something to do with stuff that he didn't have, which could have meant he'd just fallen asleep or something but that made no sense, because he remembered heading out, and augh this just was getting him more confused.
Which is a very long and convoluted way to get across that in the middle of all of that, he failed to notice Renamon. It was just one of those nights.

"Beelzemon."

Jeez, she looked terrible. Now he felt really guilty for not seeing Foxface more often. It wasn't like she was gonna stop the loner thing just cause he said so, but he could've at least helped out a bit...

Was it something institute related? He had been with Lelouch, the friend that Renamon could not figure out how they had met. From her own endeavors, she knew the boy was constantly busy, and practically only met others for meeting. Had Beelzemon came across something that he had thought to share? There had nothing on the board, at least, that pointed to that kind of interaction.
But that, now, was beside the point. She paused before responding cautiously. "The same thing that had happened when you asked last night."
no subject
"I didn' see you then. ...Did I?" He couldn't remember anything happening last night. Not just like when the night ended here. He'd just gotten a little ways out from his room, and then poof! Nothing.
Then an uncomfortable worry crept up on him. "...Did I do anything bad last night?" If he couldn't remember, there was no telling what he might've done. Maybe he went crazy again and just didn't remember it, but he really, really hoped not.

She understood the need for reassurance, from this place, and their past, but it still pressed at her. Her mouth thinned even as she continued. "You were helping a friend find his little sister. Who I had ran into and helped." With that, she gestured at her eye. She could explain in more details but for now. "What do you remember?"
no subject
He had no clue how the hell to deal with the weird mix of relief and worry that hit right then. He'd done fine, he hadn't hurt anybody that didn't deserve to get hurt. But still, something had happened, and he couldn't remember it at all.
He shook his head. "Pretty much nothin'. I just left th' room, wandered a bit, then stopped ta think about where I was gonna go. Then..." He made a vague gesture with a gloved hand. "Wakin' up. That's it. Don' remember seeing ya, or anyone else. ...Who d'ya think did it?" Stuff like this didn't just happen on its own, obviously.

His response left her silent for a moment, musing over the options. There were few and far, and if not the institute, it was a patient. But there were far too many to narrow it down that way. More suspicious individuals, then. The red-haired man had spoke little. Was he supposed to be with that group? And even Lelouch gave room for doubt, in the same entire he was in. Hm.
"The institute or someone else," she replied. "It might be easier to see if you don't know any of the people you were with the night before, since suspicion would fall to them." A flawed method, but it remained. "There was myself and Nunnally, the small girl who was the one you were searching for, Lelouch, dressed unusually, and a red-haired man with matching eyes."
no subject
"Red's my roomie. Weird guy, but he ain't tried anything too crazy on me before." They didn't really get along well, but at least they hadn't started fighting yet. "Dunno the rest. ...I dunno why I was tryin' ta find th' kid neither. I mean, besides trying ta help if a kid was in trouble." At least he'd done something right when there was no way for him to remember it. He'd jumped to conclusions as soon as Renamon had said he'd been out doing stuff he couldn't recall, even though she'd mentioned the kid then too.
no subject
Otherwise, if that was wrong. There was a nagging suspicion in the back of her mind. "A question, then," she prompted, watching the other Digimon. "Did your roommate remember last night?"
She already knew the answer to this, truthfully. If the other had remembered, Beelzemon wouldn't have been so confused when Renamon spoke with him. She was the first one to refer to last night; she was almost completely sure of it.
no subject
"And I got this bat outta nowhere too," he waved the thing around to emphasize, "An' don't remember, like I said."
no subject
There was no clear connection she could make from that, other than a deep suspicion. Everything about the boy last night was called into question, and the wording used from before gave her pause. It could have just been a turn of phrase to assuage innocence, but as it held, it called too close. It had only been the three of them before Renamon and Nunnally joined. And if neither of the two had memories and Lelouch did....
She crossed her arms in habit. "All right..." she responded slowly. "Answer two more, and then I won't bother you any longer." She still didn't know if she had been interrupting. "You don't know a person named Lelouch?" And more suspiciously- "Does your roommate go by 'N-1' at all that you know of?" Numbers seemed too much like a group formation. Like something planned.
no subject
"I dunno him, and nah. He's Heat, that's all he's said." Almost literally, it was one of the few things the guy had actually said the whole time they'd been sharing a room.
no subject
And that wasn't possible at the moment, so Renamon needed something else to occupy her time with. Her eyes slid again to the other Digimon. "What are you doing tonight?"
no subject
"Honestly, I got no clue. I was just gonna go exploring." It had seemed like a decent enough idea, especially when he was used to just wandering around unfamiliar places.
no subject
An empty night offered some room for ideas though. "Mind if I join you then?" The Digimon offered. "I was going to search upstairs, or the basement, or outside--if you have a preference?"
no subject
"Sure," Beelzemon smiled, trying to force himself to cheer up. "Don't care. They all sound good ta me!" Which meant he really had no clue what was where, but hey. No point not finding out, right?
no subject
If the other Digimon had no preference, Renamon would tend towards outside herself. The fact remained the the night air gave some sort of comfort, even in this place. And if it was possible to find something out there, that quarry maybe, or something of the type--even that town might hold things of use.
She offered a small smile. "Then outside it is."
