Night 49: M-A Block Hallway
[From here.]
Edgar awaited Gren a moment before starting the trek to Celes' room. Though he'd not been to the blocks where the women resided (the nurse wouldn't allow him to even go near that hall, and he had an inkling why), he had a vague idea of their whereabouts. He only hoped he could find her room quickly- in the event she was still within the institute's walls, he hoped to catch her before she wandered too far.
He clicked his light on as he walked ahead of Gren, hoping it'd be easier to keep track of him. "The doors unlock each night, as you've probably guessed. No one quite knows why. Aside from tempting us with escape, Landel releases monsters to roam the hallways. I've only seen one, but heard of many others."

Initially wary, Kiba's pace gradually quickened as he reached the end of one hallway and merged into the next until he was moving ahead at an almost near sprint. He no longer bothered attempting to muffle the sound of his footfalls as he headed towards the door that would lead into yet another hallway, if his memory served him right. There was no need to, no reason to keep silent. The halls were alive with the shuffle of feet and the blinding strobe of flashlights. All this certainly couldn't be blamed upon the rain. Wasn't due to the staff being overly vigilant either. The few people that Kiba noticed moving about in the dark were all patients, every single one of them.
This really didn't make much sense to Kiba. If this was truly a mental institution as the nurses so claimed, it was stupid to allow any of the patients to wander around at night. And if they were being held prisoner? Even less so. You didn't just let your hostages move around; you kept them confined to one place so that you could keep a good and watchful eye on them. Either the people who ran Landel's were idiots (he'd believe that), or they staff here were deliberately allowing the patients to run free. The latter option didn't bode well, though Kiba wasn't the type of person to dwell on such thoughts (though he'd certainly keep the possibility in mind). He'd take things as they come and react accordingly. Meanwhile, his first objective was to get as far away from the patient block as he could manage.
But he'd still keep his eyes, ears, and nose open.
