Day 49: Morning - Main Street
[From here.]
Easily forgiven? Unlikely. A pair of (presumably) mental patient committing theft. No, it was highly unlikely they would be easily forgiven. Conscience-wise? It wouldn't even stain his thoughts, really. Nothing like ten years of judgemental slaughter to make your mind jaded against the simpler crimes in the world.
Either way, it could prove to be... okay, he didn't want to say fun because not much about Venom was even slightly amusing (and Edward was very much ignoring the teenage part of him that was all ready to rebel), but it could prove to be adventurous. Especially since he didn't have the agility nor the power to make the feat easy. Having Alice play the stock market wasn't exactly the most hands-on way of stealing after all. It couldn't really be called stealing, after all... it was just using her naturally-created gifts to further the family's fortune.
So his morals were a little skewed. That was okay with him.
Once he'd left the polluted bus behind him - fresh air, thank god - he smiled to see the sky completely overcast, the smallest drops of water misting through the air. He shrugged into the obnoxiously bright raincoat he'd been given, tucking the coupons and the untouched breakfast into one of the pockets, covering his face with the hood. The suit he was wearing was a little worse for wear, but the vampire wasn't exactly looking forward to marching around damp.
Waiting just off to the side for Venom, Edward surveyed what he could see of the town so far. It didn't seen very big... which was good, he supposed. That way it would be easier to navigate. Now that the first order of business had been planned, they would need to find the right outlet for their theft opportunity.

A whole town of Bellas. He was going to lose his mind.
And have a lot harder time with theft.
Once Venom had approached and dropped the big question, Edward sighed. Now he could afford to waste oxygen, now that it wasn't saturated with human scents. "No, I don't," he admitted - but did turn to look at the shorter man with interest, asking a question he knew the answer to. "But you do?"

"First we'll need to find a place most likely to have what we need; a clothing store or anything with cosmetics would be a good start. I'll go in first and handle the owners or anyone else who may otherwise take notice of your actions," he started, outlining the plan with the ease that came with constant work in that field. Edward couldn't be allowed to speak with anyone in town without hiding his inhuman nature, meaning that, while he was at odds with the idea of doing so, Venom would have to confront the shopkeeper instead. "Come in after enough time has passed to keep it from looking like we're together and get what we came for. Leave before I do. I'll follow a while afterward"
It was simple, but it would work.

At least the rest of it, when outlined, wasn't quite so obvious. So he was the theft in this particular endeavor. Very well - shouldn't be too hard at all, especially with the pockets the raincoat provided. He wasn't going to admit he was kind of thrilled with this whole thing. It was all so... human. Low-key criminal human. Even if his family wasn't exactly legal in any way, Edward didn't do any of the forging and copying and bribing himself; Carlisle usually handled it. And if not him, then Esme - and watching Esme bribe was a sight to see.
He looked up and down the street, nothing the names of what stores he could see. The nurses hadn't even provided them with a map - and unfortunately the one he'd memorized hadn't included Doyleton (or even alluded to its existence.) Bath and Beauty, Pearl's, Callahan's... the latter looked the most promising, he surmised. "I suppose we can just drop to each store until we find what we're looking for," he said, his way of accepting his role without the unnecessary words. "Shall we start at Callahan's? It has the makings of a Wal-Mart, so I'd say it's our best bet."

If Edward wasn't going to admit his excitement at the idea of low-level crime, Venom wasn't going to admit how... at ease he was with the entire thing, especially after how tired he had been earlier in the morning. It was a mission. A silly and uneventful mission, but a mission none the less. It was something he could focus on, a goal to reach. Even a small and insignificant thing like this would feel like an achievement after the repetitive strings of failures this past week.
Besides. It gave him an opportunity to make sure Edward was capable of doing what he was told and wasn't a complete waste of effort. It may have been an easy task, but with all the trouble Alkaid had been giving him...
Well then. Venom gave the vampire one last look from under his hood before heading on without him. To work it was.
