So far, so good. Jack swept the light across the floor, then up to the ceiling, just to make sure. He was decidedly pleased by the lack of living giant spiders. The dead one was a mess in the center of the hall. A stinking mess. He was glad that he'd always had a strong stomach. And glad that they'd apparently missed whatever had done that one in.

He hesitated for a moment, but there was no guarantee that they'd have any better luck if they switched to another hall. They might as well finish checking this one out first.

Keeping his steps even - and ready to flee back to the proven safety of the library if something else reared its ugly head - he started up the hall.
