Night 46: F-A Block Hallway
[From here]
Well... at least no one was screaming this time. But the night had just started so Asuka wasn't holding her breath. Last night's paranoia to remain hidden and quiet in the dark had been efficiently squelched, impatience and overconfidence unfortunately overpowering her tactical training. Besides, after the day she just had "getting to know" the psychos in this place, she was pretty sure she could handle a few delusional boys. And if she had to lodge a shoe up an ass or two, so be it.
Her biggest problem right now was deciding which way to go. She had already gone left, but it seemed like a popular route to go as experienced last night.
Good enough reason for me.

It was quiet; good. Hopefully that meant she was making decent time. Taura padded down the hallway at a gentle jog, her flashlight bobbing in rhythm. A careful observer might catch it flashing up each hall in turn, though her head never turned.

As she passed by the girls' washroom, Anise found herself being reminded of Sync's ambush earlier that week. It was an ugly memory, but it made her wonder what the God-General was up to now. Was he back to his usual self? If he was, then another ambush could come at any time, to her or any of her friends.
Knowing that, Anise realized she couldn't afford to hang around alone for long. Without knowing what Sync was doing or when he might strike, the best thing she could do was try not to make herself an easy target.
Careful to avoid bumping into any walls or patients, Anise quickly made her way through the hallway, to the block exit.

You either got it or you don't.
And Alkaid felt like she had everything right now, walking down the hall in this familiar yet strange outfit. This body was obviously used to it, but she'd never worn anything like it before. She felt like she was cosplaying, though she knew how often she'd seen it before while running around countless maps with everyone. Luca and Mika... Sirius... Haseo...
By the time she arrived where she was going (Badou had slipped her a note a little earlier with the room number, and she'd nodded fearlessly) she'd have to look and feel comfortable in this thing. If she didn't, she'd just have to do a damn good job of acting. Which could be dangerous.
The hallways were creepy, as usual, and the doors were already open. People had passed through here earlier tonight.
And Alkaid would, too. She kept going.

Oh, there we go. This end opened up onto a new hallway! Although, why did this feel familiar for some reason...?
...Oh yeah, last night. Was she really here last night? Hadn't Ritsuka said something about fiends coming out at night? Yuna shone the light carefully around.
She hadn't found Rikku or Paine last night either, and she hadn't seen them all day.... Um, maybe they were...delayed or something! Although, that would be a little terrible.
Still thinking, Yuna stepped through the doorway near her.

A moment to peer up and down the hall before Hime was on her way, making a brisk pace towards her destination. Nothing of interest so far, but her guard remained high.

No sign of anyone familiar here. Soma quickened her pace. She wouldn't let herself get distracted again.

After a brief look up and down the hallway, Harley figured it was clear and rushed down the corridor at a slight jog. It was safer to keep moving and be quick about moving from place to place. That was the rational explanation. The real reason was she was all excited tonight. She managed to snag so many fun goodies last night, she was almost eager to see what else she could find! And she could only have the very best when it came to party favors.

The first thing Donna thought about after leaving her room was the list of where she could head. The second was the she had been so wrapped up in thoughts of "usefulness" that she hadn't given her roommate a proper goodbye, or a decent conversation for dinner. Some kind of friend she was. Well, they all had their bad days, in Donna's case boring days, so Meche would probably forgive her later. She seemed fine enough as a glance back told Donna the woman was heading out herself. As long as she came back in one piece.

"My flashlight's out of batteries, you need something to defend yourself with, and we may want some other kinds of supplies as well. Going there will help us with all those things, hopefully," she explained as she moved into the next hallway, holding the door open for Himemiya. They kept walking, and Utena fixed her friend with a strong, reassuring look. "If anything attacks us again, I'm better ready for it this time. I won't let you get hurt again."

So they were going to do a supply raid. Before moving into the next hallway she had to pause and fix her gaze on Utena's, stopped short by it for a moment. Anthy absorbed the typical noble declarations and smiled in a way that was neither particularly grateful nor disregarding, and just a little bit sad. Utena was still in a place where she knew so very little. Guilt thrummed underneath the lines in her countenance, barely able to be seen.

Even as she turned into the main female hallway, her rage had yet to abate. Not that five minutes was enough to cool a von Karma's temper, but the fact remained that she wanted to whip something into the next century. Or better yet, into a life sentence behind bars. At least this hall was relatively empty save for a child, a girl who could not be any more than a young teenager.
She was hardly a suitable target.
Gritting her teeth, Franziska turned sharply into the next hall, her torch illuminating only a mere half a meter ahead of her. She had to get upstairs and find her candles and matches, the porcelain dishes and some form of powder - along with a knife.

As fortune would have it, F14 was a mere hall away and thus, very accessible. It cut down wandering to nil, which suited Ange just fine. Saved her from the fine chance of becoming lost and skirting the temptation to skip out altogether. Whoever wanted to admit they were uneasy over a little girl anyway?
Not Ushiromiya Ange.
The flashlight's beam skimmed across the empty floor, catching the tail end of moving feet as they went out an exit. She watched them disappear before turning the corner to the next area.

...Where were the stairs. There was one door, and, a few minutes later, there was another one. Had Mele lost track? Was she lost?
Mele stared at the offending door a moment, and then exhaled heavily. Okay. Okay. Closing her eyes, she mentally went over the daytime path she was far too used to treading, and realized it was way too early for her to be encountering the stairs. Still had one more hallway to go. Or two.
...Oh, whichever, she'd find it. Mele went through the door.

Sakura hobbled down the hall with one hand on the wall. Even though she had walked through these halls numerous times, it was different traveling alone at night. The halls seemed longer, the corners seemed darker, and it seemed like monsters could come out and attack at any given moment. Her heart pounded with every step she took, and she had to continuously remind herself that she was doing this to truly help the others.
At the hall's end, Sakura stopped and peered out before continuing. Like the hall outside her room, the new hall itself seemed rather empty as well, yet that in combination with the silence which had settled once she had stopped walking caused her skin to crawl. Within a split second, Sakura bolted across the hall to the door and twirled around to double check there weren't any monsters trying to attack her. After she verified that she was indeed alone, she sighed and cracked the door open.

Sheena tilted her head a little as she led the way. "Umm... one bird, two birds.... what?" There was a reference there that the ninja was failing to grasp.

"Oh? They don't have a phrase like that on your world?" she said in surprise. It was one that existed in multiple cultures on Earth, in some form or another, but in the end, perhaps comparing different countries was nothing like comparing whole different worlds. "It's a saying meaning that actually having one of something is just as good as potentially but not necessarily having two of it. Not to say those numbers are literally true, but you get the idea. I'm just as happy to have one victim in hand," she said with a smirk, giving the ninja's hand a squeeze, "as to go wandering off looking for two, or maybe one that's twice as fun to play with. And that's supposing one even exists."

Glancing back, Sheena shrugged. "Not that I've ever really heard. Should I be flattered?" A pause. "And hey! Don't be calling me a victim!"
no subject
"Oh? But you have to admit, being the target of my amusement and affections is certainly a victimizing proposition, isn't it?"
no subject
"..." Sheena too a bit to respond to that. "Those two can't be mutually exclusive, can they?"

'Now which way was it?'
Aiming her flashlight down both ends of the hallway revealed nothing but doors and walls; it was completely empty. How long had she been asleep? She needed to hurry up and open that door or else she'll waste another night with zero accomplishments.

Ruby stuck to the shadows (which wasn't difficult, given how dark the hallway was), preferring not to mix with any of the other girls and women she saw hanging around. Maybe she'd work on ingratiating herself with the rest of the patient population tomorrow. Tonight, she had someone to find.
