Day 46: Lunch
The mere fact that she'd been susceptible to whatever hold the Institute had had on her yesterday was sufficient to leave Ayumu both upset and angry - no, not angry, downright furious, both at herself and whoever was responsible for that. But there was also the fact that because of it, she'd lost out on an entire day of work, and in several ways had ruined some of what she'd done already. That little conversation with Himura the day before, for instance, was something she'd sincerely prefer not to remember if she'd had any choice in the matter.
Unless the man was a complete moron, which, unfortunately, was one thing she couldn't believe of him, he had to have realized just who her brother was. After all the effort to keep that fact quiet (not exactly a secret, but certainly not advertised; half the Shinsengumi probably never even realized it because there was no reason to) she'd gone and chatted about it with him. Told him all about it, practically painted a bright target around a weakness that shouldn't have existed in the first place.
She'd spent the shift in the Sun Room pretending to sleep, while in truth forcing herself into calm. After years of practice she could shunt away the useless and distracting emotions, focusing only on what was important and needed to be at the forefront of her mind, and by the time the intercom signaled the lunch period she was feeling considerably calmer. The time to silently observe others had, as well, alerted her to something she probably should have noticed earlier: Mello was back. Would her previous objective be reinstated now? He seemed to have far less of a bulletin presence this time, so perhaps not. Still, though, it bore investigating.
None of her thoughts were visible, of course, as she moved through the line, examining the lunch selection somewhat dubiously. Now with the benefit of Yuuko's memories she might recognize the food, but she certainly didn't share the enthusiasm for it that her imaginary self apparently had. Ayumu skipped past that part and settled for the salad bar and some bread, then positioned herself in a place where she could watch both the door and the rest of the room, setting her journal open in front of herself as though planning to write something. There was far too much that she'd missed, too much work to do now.

The reason he didn't get to Lelouch (Brendan?) last night, when he was supposed to. He, as Spike, somehow thought it was a good idea to stop and help this boy. It definitely was him, as the various bandages and wounds matched up what Rolo recalled that night. He looked even worse in the light.
He supposed, normally, one would have wanted to thank someone who saved their life, so this wasn't exactly a strange greeting and probably had good intentions behind it. The problem was that Rolo didn't exactly care and he actually regretted stopping to save the boy's life, and he made that very clear when he just gave the kid a dismissive stare.
"It wasn't intentional. Don't bother," He mumbled, before going back to "sleep". He needed more time to himself to think. It had to be the thing with Euphemia. He must have interrupted his brother's plans, hence why he yelled the day before, right? That was the reason Lelouch yelled at him the first time, because the Tokyo mission didn't go well. Then, it was just... bad timing? Surely, if he just did a few useful things for his brother, then the whole thing would just blow over and Lelouch would take back all those things he said, right?

"Look," The God-General began, chuckling lightly as if they were only joking around. He pulled the tray back a little, this time sliding it off to the side so that there was no longer anything between them. "I'm not really in the mood to be nice, so I hope you plan on making up for what you’ve done."
By then his nurse returned with his food, setting the tray in front of Sync as he took his seat across from the other teen.

Rolo's train of thought was horribly derailed when he felt something jab into his elbows. He looked up, face contorting into a glare when he realized that not only was that kid sitting in front of him, but he said something about "making up for what he did". Of course, Rolo was thinking about doing that before this brat came here and for the moment, it looked like Rolo was about to grab the kid's tray that was set in front of him and flip it right back into the brat's face.
And then, he cooled down as a much more rational thought came to mind. Funny, it was almost like...
"... Go away." The thought crossed his mind, but Rolo wasn't in the mood to play games. He could kill the kid later (although, it was going to be pathetically easy in his state), but right now he had to focus on important things.

What was this kids name again? 'Spike'? Yet he had the feeling that wasn't the case at all. Considering how Dahlia was acting yesterday, it wouldn't have been surprising to know that there were others who've been brainwashed to believe the fake identities given to them. He didn't particularly care about this kid's identity, but he at least needed a proper name to tie him with. Of course, given the first impressions, he doubted it'd be that easy. That is, unless the latter wasn't particularly smart, but that would've made his job a lot easier.
"Anyway, I don't recall asking to be saved," Sync continued after swallowing his food. "If it wasn't intentional then maybe you shouldn't have done it in the first place."

Well, most people were probably more polite when they were begging for their lives. Rolo couldn't say he knew, since most people didn't have that chance in front of him.
"If it's such a problem, then I'll fix it for you." Rolo already decided he was going to kill this brat and fix that mistake he made. It would be good practice, Rolo figured. Without his Geass, he was useless, so he was going to have to adapt his "technique" a little. The kid was an easy enough target. It was almost funny how Rolo's body relaxed at the mere thought, like he suddenly forgot how annoying the kid was being.

"You can certainly try though," Sync paused for a moment to take another bite of his pizza, chewing quickly before swallowing. "I've already got a few plans for tonight, but I'm sure I can squeeze you in somewhere."
One would think that the God-General was playing a dangerous game, and that there was still a chance that the brunet was a lot more than he appeared to be. However, this was just part of Sync's nature, and he'd be damned to just let the latter sit there and take his own actions for granted. Sync didn't really care for threats as long as they were actually fulfilled, which was why he wanted to see if the bastard could actually do anything.
"In fact," That small smile returned as Sync boldly declared his challenge. "You can even come with me if you want and wait for your chance to strike there."

Oh, that would be wonderful. Someone he could actually kill. Rolo actually paused thoughtfully, looking off to the side as he seriously considered this kid's offer.
It was obviously a trap. No one wanted to die, and it was never easy. Even with his Geass, the place had to be perfect, the cameras had to be out of the way, the murder weapon (and murderer) had to "disappear." But Rolo did want to know what this kid was thinking: a silly ploy for "revenge", or did he really want to die?
"... No thanks. Where are you going?" So, in other words, he was interested but it just depended on where.
no subject
"Aren't you contradicting yourself?" A simple 'yes' or 'no' would've sufficed, so he didn't know why the latter was asking for details.
"Just the chemical storage," He finally answered in a plane tone. "But I doubt you'd know where that was since it took you so long to even make it to the F-Block last night."
no subject
It was really hard to ignore the jabs at him, though, but Rolo managed to ignore that long enough to try and formulate a response. Well, even if he wanted to follow this kid and then kill him... It could have been a trap. How did he know this kid wasn't just planning to lead him to some random room where others were waiting? Rolo couldn't imagine why, unless this kid really was angry at him for interrupting his suicide attempt.
Oh boo hoo.
"Mm," In the end, maybe it wouldn't be worth pursuing, as Rolo knew he had better things to do. On the other hand... "Sure, why not?"
no subject
In the end the replica simply nodded, finishing the rest of his pizza before responding.
"Your room is located in the block above the female block, right?" Honestly, his tone made it sound more like a statement than a question. After all, the latter seemed to have been going that way when he was trying to move him to his room. "You can wait outside your hall and I'll meet you there."
