Nightshift 45: M-C Block Hallway
[From here.]
This hallway seemed to be clear, too. Not many patients were out, it seemed--though he didn't have any basis for comparison in his own hallway at least. He hadn't been out of his room and loitering in the larger hallway before.
The ensign stopped and pulled out the page he'd scrawled a map of the patient blocks on. He shone his light on it, oriented himself, and decided that the best method to continue would be directly down, around Commander Spock's block, and to the door. He frowned a little--whatever civil engineer had designed this building, he wanted to talk to them about the possibility of not making it impossible to travel between the two sections of blocks. This was ridiculous--someone could die walking around in the dark for ages on end like this.

Heath caught sight of someone out of the corner of his eye and turned the beam of his flashlight in that direction, but not in time to catch anyone. It wasn't safe, having a bunch of crazy people wandering these halls unaccompanied at night. He was well aware that he was including himself in such thoughts, and in his current state it was most likely true. What if it he last it and tried to chew on someone?
The thought was ridiculous, but the nagging urge at the back of his conscience couldn't be ignored. Gripping his flashlight tighter, he walked quickly into the nearby restroom.

A couple people had passed Frank with their flashlights as he entered the larger hall, and he decided to stop and try to figure out what was going on. He leaned against the wall between two halls to ease his side.
The other patients weren't stumbling around, confused, but seemed to have somewhere to go. Surely this was some kind of accident, and the staff would be turning on the power and rounding them all up soon... right?

Huh. Looked like Todd hadn't been the only one with this idea. If the intercom announcement hadn't been so creepy, he almost would have thought the staff had put together a game of flashlight tag.
Why was it so dark out in the hallway, anyway? Surely there were nurses on duty at this time of night, right?
He almost walked right by Forte before he noticed bright purple hair in the glare of his flashlight. "...Forte? What's up?" Damn, he'd never learned the kid's real name, had he? Embarrassing. Hopefully he wouldn't be too put out. And if he were still 'Forte,' hopefully he'd take Todd's lucidity better than that guy at breakfast had.

"It's Frank, actually. Do you know what's going on? And please don't say there's monsters out here."

Todd took a moment to process the rest of Frank's statement. "Monsters?" Shining his light around the hall, Todd took stock of the hallway. Other patients, some of whom looked much more purposeful than he and Frank did. "Who said anything about monsters?"

"I don't know what's going on." The crowd in the hallway was starting to thin out, most of them heading out toward the main part of the building, though a few people were on their way to various rooms. "Did the power go out, or something? Where's the staff?" He blushed at Frank's question. Had he really done that? "N-no, my eyes are right where they should be. Did I really...?" Sighing, he set about untangling the knot he'd made in his hair. "Sorry. I must have been a real treat to deal with." How embarrassing. As if ranting about pirates and airships weren't bad enough.

"Thanks, I guess my arm wasn't as bad as I thought. Anyway, yeah, it looks like the power's out. I was just coming out to see if there was a nurse or someone out here that could tell me why." Not because he had some morbid curiosity about whether he'd see monsters lurking about, fighting patients with super-powers. Nossir, that would just be asking for trouble. "And don't worry, none of it was worse than the crap I was babbling about. So what's your real name, anyway? I'm guessing it's not Teisel."
no subject
"Oh, no, it isn't Teisel. Um." He held out his hand, changed his mind, and pulled it back. Shaking hands would be kind of tricky with Frank on crutches, and they'd been speaking regularly for a week, regardless of who they each thought they were at the time. It was a little late for a formal introduction. "Todd Wolfe," he said lamely. Damn, he really needed to get out more, once he was legally able to do so.
no subject
"Alright, Todd, wanna take a look around?"
no subject
"Okay." He set a slow pace, one Frank wouldn't have trouble matching. Todd didn't know how practiced he was on the crutches yet. "I guess it won't hurt anything if we explore a little." After all, even though the institute looked spooky in the dark, the worst that could happen would be getting scolded by a nurse and sent back to bed.

While these were hallways he'd gone through time and time again, it seemed like a different place altogether once night fell. Stephen kept his cautious pace, finding it rather worrying that there was hardly anyone else lingering around.

Scar figured that he should at least find someone to travel with, whom he would hopefully locate in one of the main hallways. There was little sense in remaining in one location for long, so the King quickly headed towards the next hallway.

The ninja decided to reach the main hallway first and see where to head from there. Searching for some useful supplies would not hurt, after all.

Aah, another pair of people in this hall. Granted, the Institute was large, so Dist supposed most people saw no reason to stay near their rooms. Where was that turn again...? Down at the end of the hall? He was fair sure that it was, so that was where he went.

Ignoring the duo of derivatives delaying in the hallway, Sho dodged diagonally past and into the darkness.

The next hallway was pretty clear. Only that kinda douche-y purple-haired guy from earlier and his old guy friend seemed to be hanging around there, and they looked like they were about to leave. "Only one way to go out. Makes things easier," he said to himself, making for the door at a spirited pace.

Lugnut plodded along, almost purposeful despite his slow pace, staring ahead with an unblinkingly dead gaze.
It wouldn't be difficult at all...

It wasn't smart to stand right there in the middle of a hallway like a lost child. He was an adult and he needed to take some responsibility but he was feeling more unsure than ever. Things happened here. Things happened in Gotham too, but this was an unfamiliar setting and no matter where he seemed to go in the world, Gotham was always familiar. Sometimes it even felt familiar enough to call home. A place with his bed, his family and usually, the same faces to be pounded into the ground. The latter part could get seriously irritating because it felt like he was going nowhere but at least with that "going nowhere" feeling, there was a sense of familiarity. Well, a stronger sense of familiarity.
Here, he just felt like running around the entire place just to see if he could. He needed to do something. He wasn't very good at staying still. He shifted from one foot to another, looking around to try and make a decision. Stay or go. It shouldn't feel this difficult.

Because of that, Brook found himself wandering off with the intention of taking the scenic route once more - towards the Recreational Field and over a wall, if possible. Being alone worried him a bit, yes, however he had his humming to keep him company and that was far better than nothing.

Argilla continued down the hallway, letting her senses guide her. She could go out onto the field she supposed, but her instincts were telling her otherwise.

Having decided that he would go somewhere tonight, Jade wasted no time in making his way through the halls. He'd probably wasted too much time arguing with Dist as it was.
