Nightshift 22: M21 - M30 Hallway

Xemnas' plan to get information from his roommate turned out to be a failure, as his roommate didn't even show up. Instead, he decided to gather information by investigating the room he was in. He had stumbled on various items which were quite out of place for an institute such as this. Journals and pens, he could understand. But a flashlight? Or a radio?

Xemnas suspected this institute wasn't as it seemed to be. It was rather unfortunate that none of his subordinates could explain the details before they were escorted back to their respective rooms. Xemnas had hoped he could receive information from his roommate, but that too had failed.

The Superior's suspicions were confirmed as soon as he heard the announcement over the intercom. The way this man spoke was quite enough to confirm anything. A complete contrast from the announcements during the day. Such a happy facade they held up, but for who?

He noted the hallway was completely shrouded in darkness. Surely, other doors must've been unlocked as well, but he didn't hear a sound. Not even footsteps. Just his own breathing.

Confirming there weren't any direct threats, Xemnas carefully stepped out in the hallway, closing the door quietly behind him.

Fox brought the flashlight down onto the pen, using it like a hammer to drive it deeper, while at the same time trying to twist and dodge the claws.

He jerked to one side to avoid getting his side cut open, then back the other way to avoid having his face torn off. Fox wasn't able to completely avoid either attack, and he ended up with painful, but ultimately not too harmful cuts on his side, and thin claw-marks across his face.

Fox leaped forward, hoping to get over or onto the cats back to get out of range of it's claws.

When the pen slammed into the cat's brain, cutting through delicate tissue and cartilage to do so, it was apparent that the cat was going to be on its last legs soon, considering the extent of the injury.

However, the cat flailed about, spit flying out from its opened mouth, its movements entirely with the intent to maim and injure -- but not protecting it from being stepped upon. The cat snarled as Fox's weight landed upon it, forcing it onto all fours, and it attempted to shake it off.

The cat was running on pure adrenaline, not any logical sense, and it knew it didn't have much time left.

Fox quickly got a good hold of the cat when he landed, gripping the cat and holding on while it thrashed and twisted in the way only cats could manage.

People that knew they were going to die were much more difficult opponents than those who wanted to live.

Fox knew what it was like to be the cornered animal about to die, but he didn't have any pity for the monster beneath him.

The cat tried to run away to somewhere else to die even as it attempted to throw off the creature on its back. It didn't take too long for the cat to die, even in it's death throes, and its movements slowed after a short while.

Finally collapsing on the floor, the creature was silent and unmoving.

Fox waited just a moment after the cat stopped moving before he got up off it. He glanced at the pen in the cat's eye before writing it off as lost and grabbing the two he'd thrown earlier.

Time to grab Ed and Tamaki and get out of there before more monsters showed up.
