Nightshift 44: Hall of Armor
[from here]
Hitsugaya cautiously stepped into the room, ready for danger, but instead of monsters and traps, he was greeted with the sight of ornate armor lined up against the walls. The lanterns hanging from above kept the hall well lit. One set of samurai armor reminiscent of feudal Japan caught his attention, and his eyes were eventually drawn to the katana it held, which bore a striking resemblance to his old zanpakutou. Despite the fact he already had a weapon, Hitsugaya couldn't help but feel drawn to the displayed weapon. After putting away his own blade, he freed the other katana from its sheath. The weight and balance of the katana felt good, and the blade's unblemished edge shone under the light. After a thorough inspection, his keen eyes deemed the sword authentic.

But as he neared the center of the room, his eyes fell on one of the displays. It held a rapier - one with elaborate carvings about the hilt. Interestingly, the length was about the same as the rapiers Faize usually used. Slowly, he removed it from its place, a part of him fearing that it may trigger a trap of some sort. It turned out to be safe as far as he could tell, and with the sword held in his left hand, he lifted it with the tip pointed to the side, testing the weight of the blade.
It had just the sort of balance he preferred in a weapon. If he could take it with him, it would be a great asset... yet this situation was much too suspicious. Why would such weapons be presented so easily to them while useful items of any sort were so scarce throughout the institute?
"Why do you suppose these are here?" he finally asked, looking to his companions.

Cautiously, he too approached one of the suits, finding one holding, as with the others, a weapon that was well-suited for him: a longsword, fairly plain in design, and slimmer than the broadsword he held now. The grip felt oddly familiar to the touch, and Kratos lifted the sword from its resting place, assessing the blade. It was of high quality, a fact which unfortunately only made it more suspicious. How had such a weapon come to rest down here?
"I have no idea," Kratos admitted. "Perhaps they are for a test to come?"
