nightshift 43: main file storage
[from here]
Unfortunately for Rolo, this next room was as unremarkable as the last room. Instead of washers and dryers, the walls were lined with file cabinets and desks, so Rolo could gather that this was some sort of administrative room. Still, it had to be more useful than a laundry room, and perhaps the file cabinets would yield some information if Rolo searched throughly enough. It seemed like a decent way to kill time, which Rolo was forced to do since Teresa hadn't been interested enough in the commotion going on in the room across the hall. Damn.
Well, naturally. Rolo refused to believe she was bored. Teresa didn't seem like the kind of person who would spend time idly doing nothing. There was some purpose behind her following him around and Rolo was determined to thwart it.
The problem was that Rolo was also someone who didn't enjoy sitting around and doing nothing when he could be more productive with his time, so he appreciated finding a room with reading material and went straight for one of the file cabinets.
He really hoped Teresa wasn't the type of person who liked to obnoxiously stand beind other people and read over their shoulders.

Let the boy think he was better off without her around.
While Teresa waited for Rolo to foolhardily enter the room in an unnecessary show of bravado, she pulled the blood soaked shirt from her back. It was starting to stick in that annoying way that told her the blood was starting to dry.
Following into the room, she was almost disappointed to not find something there to use the boy as a chew toy. Instead there were rows of cabinets and desks, presumably filled with papers. The former Number One hadn't often been in the handlers' rooms back at the Organization, but she was more than familiar with the setup Orsay had. She never found anything particularly useful the times she'd stolen into her handler's room when she was still a whelp, but it did allow her the chance to practice her reading. A fortunate thing, as the Organization saw little need for their weapons to be literate.
Though it was tempting to go read over Rolo's shoulder as she had done many a time when younger to a certain silver-haired hybrid, but the boy wasn't Irene. Though he'd probably have a similar reaction as the Number Two would, it just... wasn't the same. Odd. Teresa found herself sad that she'd never have the chance to tease Irene again. She hadn't been expecting that.
Turning to the nearest cabinet by the door, Teresa opened it and leafed through the papers.

The file he ended up grabbing belonged to some girl, and she was marked as "discharged". Discharged? Looking over the report, it sounded like a genuine patient file, from an actual hospital. Rolo wasn't 100% certain of this base's location, but it seemed remote enough. Why go through the extra trouble of writing up false reports for the prisoners here?
"Some kind of code?" He muttered to himself, briefly forgetting that he wasn't alone in the room as he stared at the patient report.

Such a place with this much control would not need a code. She wasn't sure what some of the words in the file she was looking through meant, but she could recognize medical terms when she saw them.

"Why bother making fake reports? Who would check?" Well, Rolo was aware that he was checking right now. Which was why his "code" theory made sense to him, since this would appear to be a perfectly ordinary patient file to anyone who didn't know any better. He knew what these terms were supposed to be, but maybe the meaning was different to the nurses and staff that worked here.
It was just a thought though. A pointless thought Rolo was going to discuss with Teresa because he ultimately deemed it safer than just letting her stand around idly and direct the conversation herself. Maybe if he made their talk boring enough, she would leave.

"I believe they exist for no purpose other than to infuriate."
