As the drone of binary code continued, another version of the I.R.I.S. voice began speaking over it. This one was garbled like it had been in its previous announcement, but there seemed to be a kind of pattern to it, an ugly melody in its distortion. The continued repetition of zeroes and ones served as a kind of monotone beat, becoming less and less audible as the volume of the second voice increased.

As both the binary and the singing began to fade away, a new sound was broadcast from the intercom, faint, though persistent. In the background of the Institute, it sounded like a vague hum, low, then high, then low again, but if someone were to listen hard enough, they would soon find that it was the sound of many voices, screaming and moaning.
It didn't stop, even when I.R.I.S.' voice completely vanished.
