Night 43: M-A Block Hallway
[from here]
Suzaku made his way out of his own cell block at a brisk pace, even though he wasn't quite sure he could take Yuffie's presence right now. He didn't want to talk to anyone, least of all have to pretend everything was fine again -- because he didn't want to bother her with the details of his life, and even if he did there was only a limited amount he could tell her. He was sick of pretending.
On the other hand, talking to her reminded him a bit of being with the Student Council. No matter how miserable he felt, he couldn't help relaxing a little around such cheerful people. Even if he hadn't spoken to Yuffie in person, maybe it would help to be with someone so. . . perky. And it would definitely help to beat the shit out of any monsters they ran into outside. He needed to feel like he was doing something proactive, actually accomplishing something useful, and since fighting was the only thing he was good for, he was looking forward to it for once.

Just after Raine had walked deeper into the building, the ground shook so violently she would have thought it was an earthquake... if not for the boom accompanying it. Biting back a gasp, she turned back and ran for the doorway; she knew what to do. The floor shook again before she got there, but the real reason she nearly fell was because her knees had gone weak. Being in a building this big that was under siege was never good.
What's happening? she wondered, clutching her makeshift staff so tightly her knuckles were going white. Is this rescue, or...? Better to assume it wasn't, because the last thing she needed was to get her hopes up.
She considered running for the front door, but depending what was going on, inside might actually be safer. If I just knew what this was FROM--!
The last big explosion rocked the building so hard she nearly fell. Grabbing the doorway to keep upright, she did her best to figure out the source of the blasts. It sounded directly overhead, so running might be a good idea after all...
