Day 43: Arts & Crafts Room (4th Shift)

When Momo left Hitsugaya's side, she felt both relieved to be away from him and disappointed that the nurses had separated them. Either way, she felt like she was suffocating, that she had too much building in her mind with all this on top of the message she'd been given by the undead knight on that rooftop the night before. There was only one way for Momo to relieve the pressure.

After leaving a note on the board for Senna, Momo headed into the Arts & Crafts room. She was still in a lot of pain, but Hitsugaya's healing, though minor, did make it much less painful to hold things. Taking all of the special markers, she stood before the large white board and uncapped the lightest of the colors - yellow.

Save thyself.

Those words would echo in Momo's mind for a very long time. She had much to thank the knight for, the least of which was leaving her right arm relatively undamaged. She needed it for many things, being her primary hand, but right now she needed it for one thing.

Momo began to draw.

[reserved for Senna]

"Yes, new faces." The blonde waved a hand around vaguely, addressing the rest of the room's occupants without actually checking to see if there were any more new faces. "This place likes to cycle people in and out. I guess they get tired of the same old crowd."

And where would she go, she wondered (not for the first time), if they cycled her out as well?

Callisto twirled a bit of ratty hair around one finger. "You look like a calculator. Would you like me to give you all the answers?" He was more than that, and she knew it. She'd worked with enough warlords, enough people in power, to be able to tell the shrewd from the simply curious.

Cycling people in and out? Perhaps they were dying or showing signs of the virus later - thought to be immune but later developing symptoms. New denizens were likely previously undiscovered specials.

What Adam couldn't understand was why this woman knew so much more than he did. He had been the one who'd brought on this new world, after all. He shouldn't be the one scrambling for answers, trying to draw them out without being obviously clueless. The question of how long he'd been out rang at him again, louder this time.

The woman's words confused him slightly. A calculator, really? He watched her body language carefully, judging her before he answered. The way she twisted her hair around her finger reinforced the childlike wonder Adam had already previously sensed was about her.

"All the answers?" he repeated. "If you had those, would you really be trapped here?"

The former warlord gave a bit of a cackle at the question. Trapped? It was true that no one was aware of a single patient that had found their way out naturally rather than simply disappearing without a trace, but Callisto hadn't exactly been searching for an exit, had she?

"You assume I'm in some hurry to leave." Her teeth were bared in a devilish grin. "Oh, most of the poor people here are, and I'll admit it gets downright boring during the daytime. Good thing there's more to it than that, right?"

He didn't know, of course. It was obvious. In fact, if he'd been there more than a couple shifts it likely wouldn't even be necessary to speak with her at all. Information was far too easy to come by. "Or are you not the adventuresome type?"

Boring during the daytime - the phrase implied that there was more to this place after hours. Inconveniently, that damn nurse would pick now to return. Perhaps he would see this woman again, they could continue their conversation.

Adam smiled at Callisto and passed her the crane he'd folded. "You've no idea the adventure I've seen," he replied, his tone low, part smug, part confidential secret below the nurse's range of hearing. "We'll see each other again, I'm sure," he added as his nurse began to fuss that it was, in fact, time for him leave his new friend behind. Wasn't it nice, she added, that he was making new friends. Adam ignored her, his attention focused on Callisto for just a moment longer than necessary before he turned to follow his nurse before she drove them both crazy.
