Day 43: Arts & Crafts Room (4th Shift)
When Momo left Hitsugaya's side, she felt both relieved to be away from him and disappointed that the nurses had separated them. Either way, she felt like she was suffocating, that she had too much building in her mind with all this on top of the message she'd been given by the undead knight on that rooftop the night before. There was only one way for Momo to relieve the pressure.
After leaving a note on the board for Senna, Momo headed into the Arts & Crafts room. She was still in a lot of pain, but Hitsugaya's healing, though minor, did make it much less painful to hold things. Taking all of the special markers, she stood before the large white board and uncapped the lightest of the colors - yellow.
Save thyself.
Those words would echo in Momo's mind for a very long time. She had much to thank the knight for, the least of which was leaving her right arm relatively undamaged. She needed it for many things, being her primary hand, but right now she needed it for one thing.
Momo began to draw.

Still, her voice was completely devoid of cheer, and Peter had to wonder if she actually saw her friend go, or if she only heard about it later. Either way, she was feeling it. This Miku wasn't anything like the chipper girl he'd met on the bus yesterday. Peter probably seemed about the same. Felt about the same. "Something's always better than nothing," he agreed quietly. "Are you making them for yourself?"
He blinked at her question, dumbfounded for a moment until a wet strand of hair fell and stuck to his forehead. "Oh - yeah, they made me take a shower." The clump was brushed behind his ear, and Peter made a note to ask about getting a hair cut soon. To his great shame, he always looked a little girly when it got too long. He noticed it even more now since he'd met Jessica. Having a girl clone made a guy nervous about that stuff. "This lady was trying to teach me how to finger paint earlier and we wound up having a paint fight. Not sure I'm still allowed to be in here, actually..." He cast a dubious look around the room.
CAN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU TONIIIIIIIGHT~~~~~~ Fucking inappropriate songs for posting. XD
"Well, I'm sure if you don't draw attention to yourself, they won't say anything. It's probably better you're with me, anyway. They tend to leave me alone, and overlook me a lot of the time," Miku murmured quietly and looked up at Peter to make some eye contact.

He climbed onto a chair next to Miku, keeping low and watching the door.
"Hey."
no subject
In a way, he understood. Peter wasn't alone here, but Harry had been different. He'd known him before they came, and known him well - Kurt and the others, that wasn't the same. He'd barely even said two words to Captain America back home. Despite having only known this version of Harry for two days, their similar histories made it easy to slip into a rhythm. A friendship guaranteed. Not so much now, was it?
"...Don't talk like that," he said resolutely. "There's never - there's always new people to meet. New friends to make. As cheesy as it sounds." He borrowed her grimace from earlier, finding it suddenly impossible to smile. "I know it feels like there's no one left, but that's not true. Trust me, I've...I do know what you're going through. And it doesn't last forever."
The chair beside Miku rattled. Peter watched, dumbfounded, as a thin red-headed boy slowly rose from below the table and settled into the chair. Did he know Miku, or...okay then. Stranger things had happened.
He raised a hand in greeting. "...Hey?"
no subject
Well, she was just going to stop that train of thought right now. It would just make her sob all over the carefully cut felt pieces. "Maybe," she acquiesced. She didn't get much more time to disagree with him (and didn't want to, really, Peter was right in his own kind of fashion), when Kaoru's red head popped up next to her. "Hello, Kaoru-kun," she greeted him. "...Are you... really supposed to be sneaking around under the tables...?"
no subject
"Well. That's debatable," he said quietly, messing his hair up. "What are you two up to? Can I borrow some of this?" he asked, grabbing a few supplies. He started making a mask.
no subject
"Loitering, I guess," Peter rested his chin in his hands, watching the other two set to work. Miku didn't get a chance to answer him, but maybe that was for the best. Get her mind off things. "You not allowed to be in here either?"
no subject
"Peter-san, this is Kaoru-kun, Kaoru-kun, this is Peter-san. I met him yesterday on the way to Doyleton." There, her mother in heaven could rest assured that she hadn't raised a rude daughter, introductions had been made.
no subject
"You're not supposed to be in here?" he asked, curious. "Me? I'm not NOT allowed to be in here, they just know we're planning something, it seems.... Me and Hikaru WERE being quiet. Maybe that's what gave it away."
Kaoru continued to draw the face of his mask and looked at Miku's creation. "What's that gonna be?"
no subject
If faking being a goof would cheer her up, Peter was ready to go for it. He figured everyone needed a break after last night. Kaoru didn't look too worse for wear, though. He'd probably gotten lucky and hidden in the trunk of a car somewhere. That's what he should have done with...okay, no, he was pretty sure Brainy would hate him forever if he stuffed him into a trunk and skipped away to fight zombies. Besides, weren't there some people who lit the cars on fire?
The other boy's question earned him a halfhearted shrug. "Paint fight last shift. Which is kind of stupid to get into such a big snit over, but whatever. What did you do?"
no subject
"What ever you do -- all three of you -- don't tell me. I don't want to have to lie." Miku wagged a finger at them both.
no subject
"Paint fight?! How'd I miss that!" he laughed. That would have been fun. "I haven't done anything yet, besides hang out with my brother."
Kaoru leaned in to Miku to whisper into her ear.
"So you don't want to know about the trap we set?" he teased.
no subject
Although he still didn't have an answer as to why Kaoru wasn't allowed in the Arts and Crafts Room, he could make a fairly educated guess. This was a guy who probably spent everyday in detention. He had mischief written all over. Crawling under the tables raised a few flags, for a start.
Peter kind of got the feeling he was gonna end up being the third wheel here, the way he was whispering in Miku's ear like that. Maybe he liked her? Peter's smile spread a little wider and he busied himself with pretending to watch the other patients. No interference here.

She looked between Kaoru and Peter, shook her head so that her hair obscured her face again and continued to sew up the second ear. "Besides, it won't be as entertaining if I'm not surprised by it," she bluffed.
