Day 43: Sun Room, Second Shift
When the shift changed, HK stayed put. Even after a long night of zombie killing, he had no interest in meatbag fuel, especially after all the discussion of chocolate with that rather strange meatbag. It was just making him crave the stuff even more than he had previously, if that was possible.
Oh, right. He was supposed to be looking for someone who was "VERY LARGE, WITH DARK HAIR." And also seemed to not know what lower-case letters were on the bulletin. As if that would help. He'd seen a likely candidate last shift, but talk of chocolate had distracted him.

Kio wanted to help. He'd wanted to help Soubi too, and where had that taken him? To a mental institution, running from monsters and trying not to lose whatever sanity there was left. Whatever this boy had gone through here, it was somehow worse than Kio's fate. "You're welcome. M75's not that far from your room, I hope? I wouldn't want people getting hurt."

To be honest, he wasn't surprised to learn there were others like that here. He just had to hope that they were all largely unaware of each other or unlikely to try working together to achieve their goals, otherwise the rest of the patient population would have some serious problems.
He directed his attention back to Kio as the man spoke again. M75 was in the same hallway as his room, though he didn't feel comfortable revealing that to the other man. All because Grell had managed to discover his location didn't mean that he wanted to invite all and sundry there as well. "It's close enough," he said evasively. "But thank you for your concern."

Was there anything else to do for the boy? He felt sad. Useless. But if Brainy ever needed the help, Kio would be there. Getting up slowly, he smiled at the boy. "I'm a friend. Probably he told you that too, but I would never hurt anyone. No matter how bad. I certainly would not hurt you, Brainy. If you ever need the help, M75 will always be open for you."
Kio started walking away. He would protect those in need. Those sad and alone. No matter what.
