Day 43: Sun Room, Second Shift
When the shift changed, HK stayed put. Even after a long night of zombie killing, he had no interest in meatbag fuel, especially after all the discussion of chocolate with that rather strange meatbag. It was just making him crave the stuff even more than he had previously, if that was possible.
Oh, right. He was supposed to be looking for someone who was "VERY LARGE, WITH DARK HAIR." And also seemed to not know what lower-case letters were on the bulletin. As if that would help. He'd seen a likely candidate last shift, but talk of chocolate had distracted him.

This time, she said nothing. Maybe right now, she didn't need a story or the right words or a perfect meal. Maybe this was enough.

"Th-thank you, Miss Sohma."

"I would've come sooner, but the nurses said I had to go have breakfast," she pouted. While it was business as usual for them to wake up in their own beds, no matter how far they wandered, not everyone showed up again in the morning, even if they were fine the night before.
"I'm glad you're okay."

"I'm glad you're okay too."

"Do you think maybe... we should keep working for what Armand-san was trying to do?" she asked carefully. The man had good ideas and she'd felt at least somewhat useful trying to help out with their small group. And if none of them did anything, wouldn't it fall apart? And what then?

He didn't want to see the other man right now though. He had a feeling he was taking it even harder than he was.

"I don't know," she said after a moment of quiet contemplation. "S-something easy." She honestly wouldn't mind taking a night off after the horrors of last night.

Honestly, the bounty hunter didn't want to go out, not this soon after losing someone important.

"I'd like that," she said after a moment. "I- we could still work on things um- I could... I could teach you to sew or use a bat or... you could show me how to use a yo-yo or... we could..." she trailed off, unsure if he'd even wanted to stick together or just spend the night in his own room. She couldn't really fault him for that. Maybe he wanted time to himself.

"Please, I don't want to be alone and-... and I like being with you."

"Of course, that's fine. I'll wait for you," she assured him. While she wasn't sure how much they'd actually accomplish, a break would probably be a good idea for both of them.
[agh, sorry for failing. D:]
