DAY 43: CAFETERIA, MORNING

Where was Blitzwing?

Lugnut ignored the nurse's fussing over his foot, even as it howled objections to his ill treatment of it the night before, pounding through the town in search of his wingmate, reportedly helpless and injured by an attack the night before-- and not finding him, not seeing even a glimpse of his crazy triple-changing ally.

Snarling at the nurse, but restraining himself from shows of violence-- Blitzwing would mock him if he showed up drugged already, and he would be useless to Megatron like that--he made his way impatiently to the cafeteria, stopping for just long enough to post an urgent notice on the board.

Where was he?

Looming in the middle of the cafeteria, he took the tray the nurse handed him (filled with disgusting human fuel, didn't she know he didn't have time to eat, not when his wingmate was missing?) and ignored it, watching for Blitzwing, where was he?

He refused to think about what might have happened to a wheelchair-bound, drugged, incapacitated warrior, with the swarms of monsters flooding around him, clawing and biting...

"At ze Starfleet Academy," he replied, trying to remember that this was probably not obvious to everyone.

"I entered when I was twelwe, and studied cartography, transporter theory, and theoretical physics. But obwiously, Starfleet officers also need to be wersed in basic combat, phaser combat, and surwiwal. I should be alright here, especially since my Keptain and Commander are here as well."

It wasn't relevant, but it was surprising. It actually showed on Beatrix's face.

"Starfleet? Are you sure you didn't hit your head last night?"

"Yes, Starfleet," Chekov said, figuring that given that she was from a year previous to 2161, she wouldn't know what it was. "It is a peacekeeping and humanitarian armada, founded for the furthering of science and technology in 2161. Ze Academy serwes to train its officers, who then enter duty on one of ze ships."

[must not break 4th wall. must not break 4th wall.]

"I see..."

Given this, Beatrix was really glad she would be dead long before the children of the future decide to glorify a cheesy science fiction show when they finally head for the stars. If she'd had any less discipline, she'd tease Chekov about the origin of his precious Starfleet. Thankfully, she did.

"You say your commanding officers are here? That must be a relief."

"I suppose," Chekov said, prodding the food around on his plate. "I won't be wandering around by myself at night, but at ze same time..."

Chekov trailed off, looking glumly at his plate. Without any of his charts or equipment, he wasn't exactly of any use to the team. Unless they needed to him to run long distances without stopping.

"Hmm." Beatrix watched the boy for a long moment. "You say you are good at stars. How well versed are you with the Milky Way? There may be something you can do to help your commanders, and the rest of us, with."

At the least it'd keep the boy out of the hair of people more capable at night.

"I could re-draw ze charts from memory," Chekov said--that was how good he was. He could probably redraw the charts from sectors he hadn't studied as extensively as well. He just loved navigation and the stars. Sometimes he felt like a modern-day Galileo, lovingly copying existing charts and hoping to fill in the blank spots someday.

"But ze Commander--Commander Spock--said that he's already had three different people look at ze skies outside, and that my input was unnecessary." That one had hurt--if only because Chekov was part of the same organization as Spock and Spock had enlisted someone else to look at the skies. Maybe it was childish, but he didn't exactly have a job to do for the crew of the Enterprise anymore.

An eyebrow raised. "Are those three people capable of redrawing the charts from memory?" Beatrix had to admit - she was impressed.
