DAY 43: CAFETERIA, MORNING

Where was Blitzwing?

Lugnut ignored the nurse's fussing over his foot, even as it howled objections to his ill treatment of it the night before, pounding through the town in search of his wingmate, reportedly helpless and injured by an attack the night before-- and not finding him, not seeing even a glimpse of his crazy triple-changing ally.

Snarling at the nurse, but restraining himself from shows of violence-- Blitzwing would mock him if he showed up drugged already, and he would be useless to Megatron like that--he made his way impatiently to the cafeteria, stopping for just long enough to post an urgent notice on the board.

Where was he?

Looming in the middle of the cafeteria, he took the tray the nurse handed him (filled with disgusting human fuel, didn't she know he didn't have time to eat, not when his wingmate was missing?) and ignored it, watching for Blitzwing, where was he?

He refused to think about what might have happened to a wheelchair-bound, drugged, incapacitated warrior, with the swarms of monsters flooding around him, clawing and biting...

[for Scourge]

Kristoph's indifference was well-contained, and unlike most con men, he was quite at delivering believable affect. Therefore, when he offered his most sympathetic mask, it almost looked as if the man's own heart was breaking. Breaking, perhaps, from monotony. "I am sorry," he murmured.

"I had heard of the danger from last night." Never mind that he lived through it. "I know this may be presumptuous of me, but is there anything I can do?" Might as well, if only to pass the time.

Gavin apologized and seemed so sincere, it was hard not to let a couple tears roll down her cheeks. She wiped them away quickly enough, shaking her head. Just hearing a sympathetic voice was enough for her to attempt a smile. She was so tired of hearing people tell her to toughen up and fight.

Kagura shook her head, "N-no, but... thank you, it's kind of you to offer. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be... putting all my troubles on you. Things must be d-difficult for you too."

"Hm." He touched his spoon to the flesh of the grapefruit while offering a gentle smile at Kagura. "I happened to be one of the luckier souls. Managed to morning without a mar."

There was a pause at the inadvertent alliteration before the man shrugged. "Do not worry about sharing your troubles with me," he assured. "I only wish there was more I could have done. It was terrible...that incident."

"That is lucky Gavin-san," she agreed. Then again, she didn't have a mark on her either. She'd been clinging so close to Bridget it was a wonder she hadn't transformed. Now that would've been a mess.

"My... my friend protected me, so I wasn't hurt either. But he... he lost one of his friends. I wish I could do something for him." Something as terrible as last night wouldn't be healed by a new shirt for his teddy bear or a plastic toy yo-yo.

"I wonder how it... there were so many people that..." she trailed off, looking worriedly aside.

Ah. How tragic, in the postmodern angst sense. Kristoph tilted his head as an act of concern whilst stowing away the information regarding the young woman and her friend. This could prove interesting later down the road. "I see." He paused, feigning contemplation.

"I apologize if this may seem crass," continued Kristoph, eyes glued to the fruit beneath him, "but simply staying by his side may be enough for your friend. When faced with loss, no one wishes to be alone." The words were not of his own creation, of course. Only a repeat of an old children's program.

He sighed, casting the memory off to the side. Being nice was an incredible drain.

While she'd only just met him, Gavin seemed to have a lot of good advice and nice things to say. It was a much appreciated contrast to Citan from two nights before.

"No, no, not at all Gavin-san," she shook her head, considering. Facing tragedy was terrible, but she knew just as well that doing so alone was the worst feeling in the world.

"I... you're probably right," she agreed softly. The thought of saying such a thing to Bridget though, was enough to cause a slight color to rise in her cheeks. Would it help? Or would he be annoyed?

"Thank you."
