DAY 43: CAFETERIA, MORNING
Where was Blitzwing?
Lugnut ignored the nurse's fussing over his foot, even as it howled objections to his ill treatment of it the night before, pounding through the town in search of his wingmate, reportedly helpless and injured by an attack the night before-- and not finding him, not seeing even a glimpse of his crazy triple-changing ally.
Snarling at the nurse, but restraining himself from shows of violence-- Blitzwing would mock him if he showed up drugged already, and he would be useless to Megatron like that--he made his way impatiently to the cafeteria, stopping for just long enough to post an urgent notice on the board.
Where was he?
Looming in the middle of the cafeteria, he took the tray the nurse handed him (filled with disgusting human fuel, didn't she know he didn't have time to eat, not when his wingmate was missing?) and ignored it, watching for Blitzwing, where was he?
He refused to think about what might have happened to a wheelchair-bound, drugged, incapacitated warrior, with the swarms of monsters flooding around him, clawing and biting...

He shook his head slightly as he poked at his half-full glass of juice with one finger. "I haven't seen the other two yet. But I'm sure they're fine. They have to be. After all, we're here..."

He felt guilty, having left Sakura and Fai in the room while he and Yuki had... reveled in their lack of regrets. The zombie almost-apocalypse had certainly sped along Yuki and his relationship, in terms of the whole 'this could be our last night Earth' sort of thing. But had he made the right choice?
Leaving Yukito for a moment, Touya fetched his own breakfast and returned to sit next to his boy...friend. Which was still weird to think, much less say. He felt a little stiff, like he was unsure of what to do. He and Yuki had been friends so long--what might happen if they actually became a couple hadn't exactly crossed his mind.
"I'm... glad to see you're okay. I was really worried. Your leg's doing okay, right?"
no subject
The bite hadn't been that deep, but for some reason it had still been unusually painful in proportion to its size, and still hurt even after being attended to by the Institute's medical staff. Not that he was going to get into detail on that, though, not without good reason. It wasn't bad and he could deal with it.
He paused there, giving Touya a closer look as he searched for new bandages. "It got pretty bad there, at the end...you weren't hurt?"
no subject
"You didn't get any new bites or anything, did you?" he asked, digging in to his breakfast. He hadn't seen any of the zombies bite Yuki, but it had been dark and there had been so many pouring in from the window... He hoped Sakura hadn't been bitten either, or sustained any major injuries.

Yukito paused in his eating for a moment at that, then finally shook his head a little and downed the rest of his juice. "Everything looks much better in the light of day, though, doesn't it?" he said, with a sidelong smile at Touya. "Even though we're still here, at least it feels like there's more hope now."
no subject
"Yeah," he said, smiling at Yukito. "At least we have time to regroup and heal up now. We're back on familiar ground. We have our normal gear back. Though if we're going back next week, we should find some way to get weapons into our clothes."
no subject
He might not entirely believe that, especially not with his other self's presence lurking in the back of his mind and radiating the opposite of cheer and optimism, but he could at least try. It was better than letting himself just get depressed and give up entirely. He had to keep the others' spirits up, anyway.
Without missing a beat he casually reached over, spearing a strawberry from Touya's tray on his fork and taking a bite with an entirely innocent air.
no subject
"Yeah, then my only worry will be starving to death because you eat everything off my plate."
no subject
It was also a relief to see that nothing was really changed, after last night and what had happened just before night fell. Their relationship had changed, at yet at the same time - it still felt just as comfortable to him as it had before.
"You've managed to survive so far," Yukito pointed out with an amused grin, casually sliding his fork closer to Touya's tray again as though making a play for some more of his food. "I think you can spare a few strawberries..."
no subject
He grinned wickedly at Yuki, having felt he had adequately defended his strawberries and (hopefully) made Yuki smile as well.
no subject
Not that he was likely to notice the addition or lack of a single strawberry, given the stack of everything else he'd stacked on his tray. Which was, in fact, already almost gone. They'd probably let him get seconds, though - they usually did.
no subject
Was this too cutesy, maybe...? Well, he hadn't seem Sakura come in, so he was free to do couple-y things with Yuki, wasn't he...? It wasn't as though they'd ever get a moment alone, after all.
no subject
It was almost enough to entirely distract him from keeping an eye on the door, in case a familiar face might make an appearance. By this point in the shift, though, it seemed that just about everyone who was going to be here already was - but there were still two other places they might be. He wasn't going to get really worried just yet. Really.
As much as the lighter conversation was making him feel better, though, he did have to pass on a warning. Ken had tried to do the same last week, even if it hadn't quite prepared him for what had happened in the end. "If today's like a usual Sunday," which it might not be, given last night and the odd announcement this morning, "we should have some free time later on. And...maybe visitors." Yukito picked up his last bite of waffle and gave it a serious look for a moment before putting it in his mouth.
no subject
Who would come to visit him, though? His dad? Oi, if his father came, Sakura would probably have to see him too. That would be so upsetting for her.
"I hope my father doesn't come," he said, looking uncomfortably into his plate. "Sakura would want to see him. And I'm guessing that they aren't here to bust us out or anything. And... I dunno," he prodded at one of his strawberries. "I don't want to see my dad looking like both of his children are insane."
no subject
Hopefully, since both Touya and Sakura were here now they wouldn't have another visitor for him. He couldn't imagine who else might show up - his grandparents who didn't really exist at home, maybe? Someone from school?
Worse, Yue observed, to Yukito's surprise (since he'd thought his other self was still asleep, or as close as he got to it these days) but refused to elaborate.
He reached over and rested a hand lightly on Touya's arm, brows drawing together in a look of concern. "I hope neither one of you gets a visitor, for your sake. It's...not very pleasant, to have someone so familiar telling you to believe their lies."
no subject
"Not like it'll be pleasant. But we can hope that no one will come to see me. Or her."
That brat, Tomoyo, Fujitaka... either one could really hurt her.
no subject
Now that he'd delivered the warning, though, he could move on to something a little more cheerful. After last night, he thought they both deserved it. "Still, though, there'll be some free time today. Maybe they'll even let us go outside, but if not you'll still get to do something without being herded to it, for once. And there are some good books in the library..."
