Nightshift 42: Germaine Street
[from here]
The streets hardly seemed to be a better alternative to the pet shop. In fact, it seemed like there were more zombies on the street than where they were originally. Sakura glanced around the town in a frenzy. Zombies were everywhere! Where were they supposed to find somewhere safe?
She picked up a rock and pitched it at a zombie approaching them from behind. "Fai-san, where do we go?" she asked, looking up at him once more.

There was no time to waste, though. It was a standard transmission, like Fox had guessed, but that was no problem for him. He shifted into gear and had the truck moving at speed that was probably not as safe, but it took great care of the zombies that he managed to hit. Fox was careful to try to steer through less crowded patches to avoid as many body collisions as he could.
The sheriff's office was likely to contain weapons, but guns would be of limited use in this situation. They would only have so many bullets, against enemies that seemed limitless. Still, it was worth investigating.
