Nightshift 42: Germaine Street
[from here]
The streets hardly seemed to be a better alternative to the pet shop. In fact, it seemed like there were more zombies on the street than where they were originally. Sakura glanced around the town in a frenzy. Zombies were everywhere! Where were they supposed to find somewhere safe?
She picked up a rock and pitched it at a zombie approaching them from behind. "Fai-san, where do we go?" she asked, looking up at him once more.

"Sakura!!" Touya called, spotting her immediately next to... to... Fai. That was his name. The young man ran a bit to catch up to Yue's pace, stopping in front of the pair. He turned to Fai and Yue, looking around frantically.
"What's going on?" he asked. "I never heard anything about anything like this!"

There were certainly worse people she could have ended up with when night fell; if nothing else he'd likely watch over the girl on behalf of his Sakura. But still, seeing the pair of them surrounded by the undead creatures sent an icy rush of concern flooding through him.
"Talk later," he snapped, sparing a quick glance to make sure Fai and Sakura seemed all right before turning his back on them to watch the rest of the street. "Need to get somewhere defensible."
Here they were too open, too exposed. There had to be a place that would provide shelter, or at least a wall at their backs.

Sakura glanced around the street as the other three were fighting. Where should they go? Where was the safest place? Their choice could mean the difference between life and death, yet they had little time to discuss or think about their options.
A brick building labeled "Black Rock Inn" across the street quickly caught her eye. "How about that inn?" she asked, pointing.

Yue could fight, and so could he, but Sakura and Touya? At least they all agreed that they had to find somewhere to hide and quick. The inn was close and at the very least promised to have furniture for barricading doors and windows if it came to that. And judging by the sheer number of undead roaming the streets, it very well might.
"Looks as good as anywhere else," he gave a weak smile. "At least it would be inside."
no subject
"They probably have stuff we can fight with in there, too," he said as they all ran towards the inn.
