Nightshift 42: North Street
[from here]
Being stuck in a small room with those monstrosities didn't seem the safest option. Being outside, with more space to see and move sounded far better. But when Klavier actually got outside, he suddenly thought maybe the small room didn't seem so bad.
THEY. WERE. EVERYWHERE. Crowded worse than LA during rush hour on even the worst of days. Rushing and moving like a writhing, anguished mass. So many. Where had they come from?! Stupid question. What were they?! Monsters, people... How could this-- AHHH!!!
He was frozen in place for a few moments before he realized staying in one spot wasn't the best idea. He frantically looked around. He needed to find somewhere safe! He needed to get out of here. Where was safe?! Somewhere high? Were all of the buildings infested? Maybe he could lock himself in somewhere and--
WAIT!! NO! What was he thinking?! What about everyone else? He couldn't just barricade himself somewhere safe and sit around while everyone else was ripped apart. And... KRISTOPH! Where was he?! Had he been swarmed, too?! He had to have been. But in this mess, he didn't even know where to begin looking for him. Or how long he would last searching. Maybe he would have to trust that his brother would find a safe place... No. He couldn't spend the entire night not even sure if he was safe or not. What if he needed help?
....Holy-- It looked like HE needed help!! "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Again he swung the lamp anytime any got too close, moving with his back toward the walls. Where to go?! Where to go?!

Watching Kurogane take the lead, Chise couldn't help but worry about him. "Be careful Mr. Kuro! I can take the lead if you're unable to." Pulling out a pair of knives from her 'bag', she handed them to Kurogane. It was a small butter knife and a bread knife. "I grabbed a couple more knives for you, if you want them. They're not swords, but at least they're sharp, I think."
"Where?" she asked again, refusing the ninja's vague answer. "We're gonna be completely surrounded in a matter of minutes. Should we go left, right, or up? A-At least somewhere safe!" She didn't want to die here alone!

He wasn't really sure why they were heading for the buses, unless they were going to steal one or something. There were a bunch of Cat Ladies there, who'd already turned into something weird at night before. (Maybe they turned into something different every night?) Either way, though, Luffy was up for checking things out over there, so he followed along without complaint.
"I thought the buses were on the other side of town!" he said to Chise. Of course, he probably wasn't the best person to ask which direction that was in, but he at least had a general idea.

"I've driven before," he grunted first since Chise thought he was incompetent in that area, then accepted one of the knives offered and left her one, "Keep one. And we can't get what we don't have!" he barked next to the boy, trying to ignore the mental comparisons he was getting between him and Mokona. "The buses are our best bet right now since we at least know where the hell they are."
That decision taken care of, Kurogane moved to deal with the closest zombies before pulling back. "Stop panicking!" he yelled at Chise, "I'm not losing to dead things!" Which meant in turn that he wouldn't lose eany of those with him to the zombies either. "You know which way the buses are, kid?" he asked suddenly, looking down to Luffy.

"I-I'm sorry!" she quickly apologized when Kurogane yelled at her. "I didn't know that someone like you can drive." She definitely wasn't questioning his intelligence, nosiree. Luffy, on the other hand...his cheeriness probably absorbed most of his intelligence.
The zombie abuse via frying pan continued as they walked. "I remember seeing lots of trees when I got off the bus. Maybe it's near the park? It's pretty far from where we are."

Having a tank would have been more than just handy. It would have been awesome, but that went without saying. For now, he'd just have to hang onto his frying pan, even if it didn't roll around, or have bright lights attached to it, or anything like that. It still hurt a lot if you got hit by it! Just maybe not as much.
"Hey, you can drive!?" he said excitedly. "You should teach me sometime! We might not have a car or a bus now, but that doesn't mean we can't find one!"
Which made it all the more important to find the buses, right? When Kuro asked him where they were, Luffy pointed toward the western part of town, further down the street they were on. "That way!" he answered, sure of himself. Luffy wasn't the best with directions, but he was better than Zoro at least, which meant he knew where the buses were after coming here three times.

When the boy finally gave a heading, Kurogane nearly moved in the opposite direction, but he had no better bearing than to go by what someone else even thought was the right way. "Then that's where we're going. Stay behind me and keep up," he told them before starting into a faster pace to move just ahead. The two were doing well enough with their pans, but Kurogane felt he had a better chance with the knives and his experience to take the lead. Besides that, there was no way in hell he would be following either Chise or the boy.
