Dayshift 42: Mountain Antiques - Afternoon
Music was, above all else, an art form. Arguably the ultimate art form. It was able to transcend languages and immerse the listener in any kind of atmosphere, painting mental images and dragging forth memories. Happiness, sadness, anger, sorrow, regret, absolution, peace, joy, love... A clean melody could overwhelm the heart with any number of emotions. So was an audience's fate. So was their joy.
And so too was the performer's heart laid bare when he played. As any musician knew, their emotions were as key to their music as the instrument in their hand. It was the perfect form of expression. Thus, as Klavier's mood lifted over the course of the day, so did his music. As opposed to the more articulate, beautiful melodies of the morning, he was now playing far more energetic music. Or as energetic as an acoustic could be.
Enough with this dreary atmosphere. Five days in this wretched place. Far more for others. In a place where will power was all one could survive on, the slight chance of lifting a few spirits was a worthy cause. If he could do that, then he was happy.

That wasn't to say Luffy hated Doyleton. Just that it hadn't changed much the last two times he'd been here, and that he really wished the Cat Ladies would give them more food to carry around. The coupons were nice, though! Even if some of them were kind of weird. Why would he even think about getting his nails done when he could just hang out at Tasty Burger instead? (Even the restaurant name sounded tasty!)
But if there was one thing Luffy liked as much as eating, it was exploring. He wasn't expecting to find anything different from before, but it was worth checking out, right? So far there wasn't anything all that interesting on this street, though the cool horse at the pet supply place had caught his attention for a little while. After wandering down the street a little more, he thought about just turning down Bohr street for awhile. That changed once he heard some music coming out of one of the stores, though, and the pirate stopped in his tracks.
Without even thinking, he wandered toward the shop's door, as if the music was somehow magnetizing. The song was happy and fun -- the perfect thing to dance to! With the music playing loud and clear, it didn't take Luffy long to find the source: a blond man he'd never met before and an old-looking guitar that sort of looked like it'd been sitting around for awhile before now.
Beaming now, he couldn't help but tap his foot to the beat as he listened. All he needed was something to drink in one hand, something to eat in the other, and he'd be ready to launch into a jig!
