Dayshift 42: Morning - Magus Park
Senna stepped off the bus to wind blowing through the clothes she was given. A sad face at one of the nurses allowed her a long red scarf as well, and once she had draped it around her neck and let it hang down her back, she had trotted off.
The park she had saw last time seemed a good place to be on the look-out for the chicks from last night. It was close to the buses, and a big enough place that if they remembered that they had a race date, it would suit its purpose. The girl ran to a place in the middle of the field and waited there, shifting her weight from side to side. After a while, this wasn't enough, and Senna traded back and forth between jogging in place and acrobatics--the easy flips and cartwheels keeping her warm.
Her mind had changed in the night before. She had gotten a taste of what leadership entailed, and she wasn't sure she had rose to the occasion or not. She knew she had tried her best, and had been willing to give as much as she had, but it hadn't been enough. She knew this. Hokuto, at least, had gotten hurt, and in the end, they still hadn't explored more than the schoolhouse. They really needed a different approach with that place.
She went back and forth internally, body going through the motions and reflexes of her movements.

Pushing her coupons into her jacket pocket, she spotted Senna a short distance away. She didn't seem injured, judging from the way she was doing flips; now the only member left of their team to check up on was Hokuto.
The attack last night had almost erased the suggestion of a race from Soma's mind, but now that she thought about it again, it didn't sound like a bad idea at all. Being cooped up inside all the time had started to grate on her nerves; a little friendly competition might do wonders for her. The jeans she had been provided with were less than ideal, but they were at least worn with use, and she doubted they would slow her down significantly.
She jogged up to Senna. "Good morning," she said, trying to make her voice sound a little more casual than it had the night before.

On that thought, Senna smiled widely, looking extraordinarily happy. "Soma!" she greeted. "Hey, you're alright! I'm so glad." The girl kept up the smile as she shifted from side to side. "Did you come here for something in particular? Or did you remember about that race?" At this, Senna's smile slid into an easy grin. Soma had been the one to take her up on her challenge last night, so the girl got points. Soma was quiet, and seemed pretty formal, but she had what it took. Senna wasn't blind to the fact that Soma had followed her into the fray last night first.

Her initial awkwardness was beginning to slip away; Senna's cheerfulness, combined with the anticipation of a race, was infectious. Soma offered a tiny smile. "But I'm still interested in a race, if you are."

She caught sight of Soma's back as soon as she finished tossing the scarf around her neck--and with her was Senna. Meche started to run.
"Senna! Soma!" she called as she got close. The crisp air stung her lungs a little, but she'd made pretty good time when she reached them. "Are you both all right?" she asked urgently. "Where's Hokuto?"

And then Meche ran up. Senna turned, the small smile widening. Keeping her hand on Soma, she slung the other arm around Meche's shoulders, standing on her tip-toes a little. "Hey," she greeted warmly. That's two accounted for.... "We're fine. Are you okay?"
The last question she left for Soma. Hokuto was somewhere. Senna just didn't know.... Damn. Falis would kill her.

But Soma wasn't worried unduly. She was used to trusting her wingmates, and the women in front of her were no exception. While it normally took a while for anyone to earn Soma's trust, all of them had proven themselves capable last night, and she was a little surprised to find that she enjoyed their company.
"We haven't seen Hokuto either," she said in response to Meche's question. "But I'm sure she's all right."
no subject
"I'm fine too," she said with a reassuring smile. It was close enough to the truth for her conscience, anyway--the few knocks she'd gotten weren't so bad, and there was no point in worrying anyone any more than they already were. "I'm glad you're both okay, at least--and Soma, I think you're right about Hokuto," she added with more conviction than she really felt. "We really got lucky back there."
If the three of them had gotten out, Hokuto could only have made it too, right? Meche didn't remember escaping from the building, which had to mean they'd been transported back to their rooms (that had to be what was happening!) right after the fog set in. Hokuto must have been taken and fixed up, and the worst that could happen to her was a trip to the infirmary.
Where people vanished for a week at a time. Somehow that wasn't as comforting a thought as Meche had wanted it to be.
She didn't want to mention what she'd talked about with Mr. Taylor, at least not until someone else brought it up. Hopefully they hadn't noticed the blood in all that confusion--last night had been enough of a horror story already.

With an easier smile on her face now, she folded her arms against the cool air. "So until we can find out for sure, what do you guys want to do?" She glanced at Soma with a grin. "Wanna save the race for when we find her?" The Shinenju-Shinigami hybrid didn't mind either way. Her needs were simple. Existence, food, friends. And even as her stomach grumbled, she wasn't that hungry yet.

"I'd like to look around the town a little, but you've both been here before. What would you like to do?"
no subject
"Well, maybe we'll run across them somewhere in town," she said. "As for where to go, Senna and I made a friend at the pet store last time; I wouldn't mind going back there again. Or if there's anything you want while we're in town, I have some extra coupons from last time. We could try to trade them for something, or even go to the spa." Donna was probably already there, having a field day.
